  1. someone hasn't dragged a jig on a NRX rod yet... I have 6 NRXs and a crap ton of GLXs. I drive a Honda Civic and most of my clothes are 4 yrs old. not a status thing - a priorities thing.
  2. I wonder if anyone's preferences have changed since the thread was created in 2014. I only like 6'6" for short accurate casts, my favorite spinnerbait rod is 6'6". About 7' is perfect for me for most applications.
  3. an obvious hoax. the belly button gives it away.
  4. guys, the reason we haven't captured a bigfoot is because they are extra-dimensional beings. everyone knows that.
  5. not sure about 1/16 total weight. the xf tip might not be ideal for that as well. maybe some ultralight people can tell us about the glx 1 and 0 powers
  6. i have both the AVS63MLXF and AVS63MXF in very good condtion i could sell you. $90 plus shipping sound right? these are spinning BTW. i could send you both and you could send one back but im pretty sure the ML would be better. the M does have a soft tip though... PM if interested. -Z
  7. are you new to baitcasters or do you suspect a mechanical issue? are the brakes and tension set correctly? set the tension so if you release the 1/4oz bait with your rod parallel to the ground, it doesnt overrun when it hits the ground. drag should not matter. tie on a 1/4oz sinker and head to the backyard or park. set the tension tight and make a few short casts, medium, long. release some tension and repeat. start with dramatic sweeping casts and start whipping it when you fix the issue.
  8. who said that? was a post deleted or are you talking to yourself?
  9. you definitely don't need to use spinning reels but it would benefit you to learn and be comfortable using them! same goes for those only using spinning. this is probably a dumb question and I don't mean offend but did you know you can switch the handle to the other side? when I use spinning gear I hold the rod above the reel foot (not with my fingers interlocking it) and have a few fingers on the blank. this makes it more sensitive to me than palming a BC reel and its easy to find the balance point. I actually prefer a spinning combo to a baitcaster for jigs/plastics under 3/8oz (but that's pretty much it). I can pitch and index finger the line (instead of thumbing the BC) and get a nice vertical fall without pulling line out. I feel like I have better feel on the drop with semi-slack flouro when not having to pull out line. for 3/8+oz jig/plastic and moving baits, I pick up the BC.
  10. hello, im sure this has been covered more than a few times but i cant seem to get the search function to produce any results. the fat ika is one of my favorite soft plastic baits but I have never been satisfied with the hooks I have been using. what hook do you use for weightless texas rigging with the skirt up? i have been reading about Owner Rig-N-Hook worm hooks and am thinking about trying them. what size rig-n-hook is ideal for the fat ika? thanks in advance, -z
  11. without a doubt, Shimano.
  12. id like to add walking with the tip near the ground to that list. Loomis and St. Croix have excellent replacement programs if you do break the rod. Im sure other companies do too. Might be something to consider...
  13. that made my stomach hurt - have you ever seen anyone do this? i usually do trebles on the reel and single hooks on the rod. treble lures are removed from the rod/reel before the drive home.
  14. Viper0463 - PM sent with additional resources to get your question answered. Are Castin Stick worms going to be the next product banned on here?
  15. check out the NRX 894 and the Shimano Metanium reels. I'd go with the XG (8.5:1) for the applications you described.
  16. he knows it is good for plastics. why should he not get it?
  17. I was told that the best way to build credit is to use 50%-75% of your max limit and pay it off in full monthly.
  18. happy belated birthday! next time you go, slap hellmuth on the back of the neck for me.
  19. for survival im with Mosster47 and would choose an inline spinner. one lure for sport would have to be a 3/8oz jig with plastic craw trailer in green pumpkin
  20. what kind of rod are you looking for? the old GLX MBRs are still some of the best all around rods IMO 842,843,844 the glx 783 is still my favorite spinnerbait rod (over the nrx 843!)

365 days, anytime of the day or night. you can fish them from shore but you might lose a few because youre working them uphill. id start with small jigs (1/4oz or so) with 3" trailers to build confidence. id start with green pumpkin or black. sometimes the fish want it presented very slow. scent is up to you, some swear by it. hope that helps some!
  22. I would really try to get that St Croix if I were you. I love the smoothness and light weight of the stradic ci4s
  23. I have more plastics than I will ever use but I still buy more. sickness and hobby are synonymous a good way to save money on lures is to invest in a lure retriever.
  24. true. but the OP is asking for opinions. its legal to sleep with someone else's girlfriend but its not cool. that's my opinion. eating a large bass might take care of your hunger for a few hours but that bass will never be caught again. not worth it. the bucket fisherman who eat everything wont care about that. sport fisherman with bassboats and shiny new reels - shame on you!
