Line for jigs
WRB and Catt - from your experience fishing 30lb braid without a leader, do think that using green instead of hi vis yellow braided line makes any difference at all? Thank you.

rod for light hard swimbaits
Thanks for the replies! Would anyone recommend anything from the Megabass line? This rod will be mostly used for 1-1.5oz hard swimbaits and soft paddletail swimbaits on 1oz jigheads.

rod for light hard swimbaits
Ive been throwing small hard swimbaits like the BBZ-1 four inch (1oz) more often this year and I am currently using a GLX 844. This winter I'd like to buy a rod that is ideal for 1-1.5 oz swimbaits. I'd like to get a "light" weight swimbait rod as I wont be using it to toss 3oz swimbaits. i dont mind spending a little more money for extra sensitivity and low weight. If price/value wasnt an issue, whats your ideal 1.5oz swimbait rod? Thanks! -Z

braid no leader - green vs yellow
Do you guys notice a drop in catch rates using say 30lb hi vis yellow vs green braided line with no leader? stained to muddy water? Im pretty confident using green in stained water but its hard for me to see the line. Anyone color the first few feet of yellow line with a marker and notice a difference? I might try that if only for my own confidence. -Z

Aldebaran Tuning
So Digitaka has two different 2016 Aldebaran BFS reels listed and one does not have the XG in the listing. I am not sure if this is an error because i have not seen a non XG version anywhere else so i would contact them if you decide to check it out. http://www.digitaka.com/item.php?item=182413

Aldebaran Tuning
The only thing i'd upgrade is the handle. if you want a shallow spool and XG ratio, check out the 2016 version. http://www.digitaka.com/item.php?item=182415 edit: PM me if you have a stock spool for sale in the future

With which reel would you treat yourself?

New Loomis GLX vs NRX for shakey head/drop shot
i have the 842c. i am not sure if it is the same blank as the spinning but i think it is. the 842 would be a little better for LIGHT drop shot and a little better for moving baits as it has a slower action and a softer tip, not that the 852s has a stiff tip. the 852s just has something special about it. it made 2 - 3 of my other spinning rods obsolete. i use the NRX 852s for dropshot, shakyhead, weightless plastics and small jigs/weighted plastics. to describe the rod i would say its perfect for wacky rigging a 4" weightless senko.

Rods and Reels
sounds like a well rounded arsenal!

Right or left handed...
i switched to all lefties several years ago. it didnt take long to get used to it and it feels much better working the rod with my dominant right hand.

Have you seen the new Kistler Rods FeelNReel rods?
He said Kistler has a new rod series, not that hybrid rods are new.

Toughest Time of Year?
middle of winter because i cant get myself out on the water. im in VA

Rage Rig Setup
thats the rage craw on a weighted worm hook, right? id probably go MH 7'ish rod, FC for the slack line feel. ive fished it on baitcasting but spinning will work just fine if not better.

Yamamoto baits
D shad is another. weighs 10 grams.

Bass Fishing Techniques/Presentations
i like spinning for light bottom contact mostly (1/4oz plus plastic and below), jerkbaits, poppers, weightless plastics, very small crankbaits and small inline spinners. a baitcaster takes care of the rest for me. practice what you listed (youtube is a good resource) and also learn weighted and weightless t-rig, poppers, frogs, dropshot. that should keep you busy for a few outings some proven lures: lipless cranks - ratltrap : straight retrieve, yoyo squarebill cranks - KVD : bang it off of things buzzbait - cavitron (black) : keep it above the water spinnerbait - (white) : straight retrieve, yoyo, bang off of wood chatterbait - zman plastics - zoom jigs - elken and cadman : combination of dragging, hopping, shaking edit: i forgot the paddletails. i like keitech fat on a weighted hook or a jighead. the swing impact version for swimjig/bladejig trailers.

New Loomis GLX vs NRX for shakey head/drop shot
what I do like about the expeditor vs the goldstar is that Loomis sends you the rod before you ship the damaged one back. a nice thing about st. croix's goldstar is that you can upgrade to a different rod even from the same line. both are great insurance plans and are worth quite a bit to me. ive used them both and they went very smoothly.

New Loomis GLX vs NRX for shakey head/drop shot
the St. Croix LE 6'9" MLXF is another choice I can recommend if you want to go a little lighter. A nicer build than the NRX. I think you can buy the blank unlike Loomis'. i think there are many blanks that can compete with this one if you decide to go custom. I might be tempted to try the 822DSR if i were you but i am afraid its not good for much else other than dropshot. hopefully i am wrong. in my hands, the sensitivity varies from rod to rod even of the same type. the BCR803 GLX is a standout in the old GLXs. the NRX 803s, in my hands, not so much. i havent heard many good things about the NRX 822SYR but no experience there.

New Loomis GLX vs NRX for shakey head/drop shot
my crap turned into 5 of them. diminishing returns but OP asked for the best.

New Loomis GLX vs NRX for shakey head/drop shot
the difference between the old BSR GLX 852s and NRX 852s is huge. the 852s was my first NRX and what i thought would be my last. i couldnt believe what i was feeling on the river bottom. 8lb sniper FC. ill throw a spool of braid on it soon. The NRX 852s will not be as good at light drop shot as the 822 DSR but is better at shaky. I have not used the 822 but have read up quite a bit and i dont think the 852s is ideal for light dropshot but not bad at all. 852s is expensive, not a good value at all, but i could never see myself sell it.

Getting a new bait caster.. Suggestions please
if you can throw in another 30, i'll vote the Curado 70 or 71. this reel is the perfect size IMO. has x-ship. id go HG version. XG for dedicated jig/plastic rod.

What rod is your go to for jerkbaits
MBR782c GLX or JWR802s NRX

New Loomis GLX vs NRX for shakey head/drop shot
The NRX 852s is the best spinning rod I have used. Super sensitive - more than anything else I have tried including 5 other NRX rods and over a dozen GLXs (not the new ones).
