Favorite Topwater to throw
pop x, small frogs, and cavitron buzzbaits is most of my topwater fishing. frogs are probably my favorite with the pop x close behind. i just rcvd some Megabass Anthrax topwaters - looks like they will test my rod skills! I wonder if "Oh Ashota!" (1:39 mins) means what I think it does.

ordering from big stores shouldnt be a problem if it breaks. ive rcvd and mailed out about 40 rods total in cardboard and had one tube break. i got lucky though and there was no damage. USPS did a crappy job with tape to try to fix the broken tube. basss - how does she look?

Friday the 13th ... d**n you ...
had a similar problem last week but luckily the rod was undamaged. I think I would have been late to work today if same happened to me. I couldn't sit at work with it on my mind! you had time to take pics but not open it? good luck, good chance all is well.

This thing is insane...!
interesting. ever since i tried a Ci4 spinning reel i have not been able to use my aluminum stradics for fresh water fishing. all of my spinning rods (UL-H) are balanced with the light weight reels.

basic rod and reel combos
7' M/XF spinning - weightless plastics, finesse jigs/plastics 7' M/F casting - small moving baits 7' MH/F casting - medium moving baits 7' MH/XF casting - jigs/plastics 7' H/F casting - anything in heavier cover, larger moving baits, frogs, bigger jigs/plastics I would add a ML/XF spinning and a XH/F casting before a moderate action cranking rod only because I don't use deep cranks. I find a slower fast action or a moderate fast just fine for medium depth cranks and is way more versatile. most of the rods would be between 6'8"-7'3". 8.x:1 for baits that are moved by the rod (and buzzbaits!) 7.x:1 for everything else

another how to make the best swimbait
sorry, a bit off topic, but are you using braid? are your lures breaking off and flying into the horizon? if so try FC or Mono or at least a long leader of it. If you are losing baits snagged deep, invest in a good lure retriever. Both a weighted knocker and a telescopic is not a bad idea. Worth it for saving just one expensive bait. Good luck on those wooden baits. Looks fun to build and will save a lot of money as you already have the tools. catching a PB on your own bait would be an awesome feeling!

Need Opinion on bait casters
I bought 3 of these reels because I was so impressed with my first one. Most comfortable reel I've ever fished and way smoother and has tighter tolerances than my older Chronarch 51mg, Curado 51e and 201E7. The other 3 reels I am using are almost twice the price and the Curado can hang with them! (Theyre actually Scorpions but basically the same reel.) To be fair, I have never fished the 13 reel. currently $174 shipped for all 3 gear ratios (Scorpion has a 6.3:1 option): https://www.digitaka.com/item.php?item=316283 i get packages sooner from Digitaka than TW every time. Hope you get the same feeling I do from these reels!

Can you flip/pitch with spinning tackle?
although i prefer pitching heavier baits with a baitcaster, i am not sure why people say you cannot pitch heavier weights on spinning. all depends on the rod. not all spinning rods are medium light.

Can you flip/pitch with spinning tackle?
if you fish the senko, ika and other weightless plastics on spinning gear you have to pitch at some point. i find it more comfortable and better balanced if all of my fingers are above the reel seat. its easy to pitch with spinning but you want to learn on your baitcaster and you will be happy you did. practice in the yard so you dont waste your time on the water.

Gloomis Rod repair/Replacement
if repair/replace doesn't fall under the warranty, I can tell you that Expeditor is hassle free. Ive had to use it twice. They ship first!

Can you flip/pitch with spinning tackle?
You can do both. I pitch small jigs and plastics all of the time with spinning gear. you can even feather the line with your finger to slow it down (hand not making the cast).

Mono or braid for my lure choice.
lots of good advice on here. its good to eventually familiarize yourself with every type of line. all have their pluses and minuses. tools for the task at hand. i like to use: weightless plastics - FC jigs/plastics - braid or FC single hook moving baits - FC topwater - mono frogs - braid cranks - mono, FC or hybrid (depending on rod action and desired depth) swimjigs, paddletails and hard swimbaits - mono, FC or hybrid for a good all-around line, check out Yo Zuri Hybrid 12#. cheap, strong and well liked around these parts.

Power, action and suggested length
for the next rod id get a versatile 6'6"-7'2" MH/F for jigs, plastics, chatterbaits, buzzbaits, spinnerbaits, swimjigs, paddletails with swimbait hooks or on jigheads and lipless in grass. 1/4oz frogs! after that would be a heavy rod for frogs, pitching to cover, small hard swimbaits or a MH/M crankbait rod if you like fishing medium and deep divers. squarebills and shallow cranks should be fine on your M/F.
