  1. after Loomis announced that you can only use the xpeditor service once per rod ive been slowly whittling down my loomis collection and was thinking of giving phenix a try (great no-hassle warranty) although i have not heard much about them. can you tell me how the XF Phenix rods compare to Loomis BCRs in terms of action and tip stiffness? im basically looking for XF spinning and casting rods with a stiff tip. also, how would you compare the top end phenix rods with GLX or IMX in terms of sensitivity? thanks in advance -z

  3. dont reply at all even with a stupid reply phishing attempt. they want that inital contact from you.
  4. talk about power trips my brother had his face slammed into the hood of a Washington DC squad car. "he must have done something to deserve that" you say? the cop searching us and some friends had dropped his cell phone onto the street on purpose and my brother told him he didnt have to do that. this cop looked more like a DC thug than an officer. its a shame that the corrupt cops give the others a bad rap.
  5. as long as your rod has a lure weight rating of 80oz -160oz you should be able to make practice casts right away. (id pull out of the hospital parking lot first)
  6. yeah id read that one earlier but i still dont buy the avalanche theory. its hard to leave a trail during an avalanche and its hard to build a fire when youre trapped under snow. an avalanche is probably the first thing they investigated but then why did the soviet gov say the cause of death was from "a compelling unknown force"? they would have claimed it was an avalanche - case closed.
  7. ive been reading articles about it and they say there was no avalanche.
  8. pretty freaky: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dyatlov_Pass_incident other than an ET attack, what do you think happened?
  9. 1. fishing from shore or rental jon? buy a SOT kayak 2. buy shimano reels. ive strayed several times. never again!
  10. parents are paying for it? do all 4 yrs. sure, you can get a good job without a college degree. sooner or later you will bump your head on that glass ceiling.
  11. stand the rod up on the butt and put your finger on the top guide and gently push it down. you will be able to tell the action as well as the stiffness of the tip. try this on your rods at home first to get a feel for different actions/stiffness.
  12. ordered two rods on separate occasions. fast shipping, eager to help over the phone. would order again.
  13. cuticle scissors fit nicely in my plano boxes. i havent been using braid for very long but the palomar hasnt failed me yet.
  14. throw the book at them!
  15. use some cajun red mono as backing line. same diameter as your braid.
  16. if i had to pick one, id go with Tool.
  17. i think thats how they cook in the UK. just add greasy "chips" to the top two recipes
  18. i dont know if ive smoked a briar pipe, but the wooden pipes ive tried tend to give it a bit of a taste... the glass ones dont give any flavor and theyre easy to clean.
  19. every day. i like glass ones.
  20. looks good, man! what kind of spill did you take? the one where you have to jump over the handle bars? over the years, ive perfected that 'dismount'

  22. be happy youre hooked on a sport that you can participate in until you cant use your arms any longer. great hobby for the soul too. do you really take a few worms to work? thats pretty funny. one of my dorkier friends always carries a d20. he sometimes uses it to make decisions.
  23. repeat purchases of the same rod due to breakage is not part of the new Loomis profit strategy is it? why not offer a replacement at cost plus shipping? add an significant upgrade fee if the new model is more expensive? when i bought my first glx i did not even know about xpeditor. it was the best rod id ever held. after finding out about the xpeditor service i built a small collection of glx rods over the next couple of years. my initial plan was to have one very nice jig/plastic rod (my first glx) and fish mainly avids for other presentations. there is no way i would have bought 11 more glx rods if they werent a long-time guaranteed investment. not that they arent great rods, its just alot of money for me. if i never owned a loomis rod and i read great reviews about the NRX, looked at the cost and saw it comes with a "no hassle" free replacement, sure i'd grab one or two. its a great deal. hell, look at JDM rods. but thats not the point. for some Loomis owners who own multiple rods, this kind of feels like the gym membership story mentioned above (not as extreme, but same type of feeling). call me a sucker, i guess. no folks, its not the $50 price increase thats upsetting. not trying to whine, just making a point. -z
