Gran Torino vs. No Country For Old Men
although its unfair to compare two totally different movies, its 'no country' hands down. some of you need to watch it again. cant you feel that pit bull swimming right behind you? those of you who read books and like 'no country' have to check out some of Cormac McCarthy's books. Blood Meridian is straight up brutal.

Xpeditor vs. Warranty
thanks for posting this thread, Bantam1. im sure you guys thought of all possible options to keep the xpeditor going, but would making people register the rods and getting an 'expeditor credit' per rod not work? for example, i own 12 rods. ive used the service twice, so i have 10 credits left. i hope not to ever need another replacement but because i use 3 of my loomis' rods about 75% of the time, those are the ones that would need the insurance of xpeditor. i guess keeping a system like that would need more people hired but a simple database should handle it. i dunno. i would be more than happy with 10, or even 5 credits in my loomis acct... -z

Xpeditor vs. Warranty
i dont think its fair that many GLoomis users bought the rods because of the xpeditor service and now it is being changed (myself included). i dont mind a fee increase but the fact that you can only use it once has me looking at other brands now. i certainly dont plan on breaking a rod more than once. i own about 12 loomis rods and have used the xpeditor twice but both times on the same rod. had this happened after Aug 1st id be SOL. so now my "immortal" Loomis rods only have two lives. i'll admit, theres no way i will sell all of them (not my bcrs!) but the majority will be sold and replaced. :'( ok, im done crying.

whose tried both the chronarch mg50/51 and curado 50/51?
i have a chronarch mg51 on a rod and another sitting brand new in a box. id like to know how these two reels compare. if you've fished both, id greatly appreciate a comparison. im trying to decide whether i should keep both MGs, sell one and buy the curado, or keep all 3... im thinking of putting the either my other mg51 or a curado51 on a mbr783 that i use for jigs/plastics and spinnerbaits. im not happy throwing 1/2oz+ spinnerbaits on the 201e7. thanks, -z

Buying first reel: Stradic ci4 overkill?
theres a 6'6" mf and 7' mf. i'd look into that 6'8" xf though. i think it would be nice paired with the ci4. i like the LE version for shakey jigs, light t-rig and jig, and weightless plastics (senko, ika etc). if the avid version has the same feel, i think you'll enjoy it. dont hold your breath, still waiting on my reel. ordered last friday, according to UPS tracking, i should get it today. edit: i meant fat ika. totally different animal

Buying first reel: Stradic ci4 overkill?
you mean the 6'8" MXF avid? i have the LE version and i love it for many finesse presentations.

1 bait for the rest of your life
get some 1/4oz bitsy bugs or 5/16oz eakins jigs and some baby rage craws. both of these jigs are cheap and very effective. 'finesse jig' is a misleading name but theyre typically smaller jigs like the two mentioned above. many have the the upper rubber strands cut around the jighead (spider). football jigs are good for rocks grass and darter jigs are good for grass i like arkie type heads for wood and for an all-around jig. i wouldnt worry about swim jigs yet, but the head is designed to be swam through the water instead of dragged/hopped on the bottom.

Buying first reel: Stradic ci4 overkill?
if youre not sure if youre gonna stick to the sport in years to come, it maybe an overkill. if not, by all means get it. mine is in the mail (havent used one yet) but i think its probably not going to be the best bang for the buck. but i feel it will be worth the price. it might still be 20% off at reeds sports with free shipping. if you end spending less, go for a stradic fi. $120 shipped online. no-brainer.

Shimano Symetre FJ vs. Shimano Stradic FI
my symetres came with spare spools but i havent bought one in several years. you can find the stradic fi for $120 shipped online. id get that.

Newbie help with removing trebles
trebles are pure evil. id fish single hooks for a while (spinnerbaits, soft plastic, jigs) until youve landed a few more bass and kind of get a feel for when theyre going to shake and when its the right second to lip them. even then they'll still get you. you can use a net, boga style gripper or swing them over with braid (mind the rod tip)

Sighting in an airgun...
id try the scope on another gun if you can get your hands on one. if it shoots straight without maxing out the screws, the barrel may be to blame, but im guessing its the scope. id return which ever one seems off to the store.

Sighting in an airgun...
just to make sure theyre on correctly. is the rear higher than the front mount? it just seems strange that you have it fully maxed out and its still off. are you going to sell cat carcasses when you get dailed in?

Sighting in an airgun...
well it is aiming as low as it goes, and its still not low enough. it has come down some since i lowered it all the way but its still high. when you want to bring the point of impact down you turn the elevation knob in the direction opposite of the direction marked "up" correct? i'm going to feel really stupid if i turned it the wrong way. if the POI did come down some youre probably doing it correctly. wont hurt to try though. i would check the mounts on the scope.

Sighting in an airgun...
Shaving the top of the front sight will move the POI up, I believe. i think youre right. disregard
-
Sighting in an airgun...
maybe shave the sight on the tip of the barrel down a few mm? buy a scope?
