Swim jig tips
Pro tips for fishing swim jigs from the bank. Enjoy!

Going west to the frontier
It's tidal waters there; generally clear. The salmon will be running then, just be sure to check regulations as they're variable. There aren't any pike, but there are pike minnows - junk fish that will readily hit your crankbait or spinnerbait. Don't ignore the Willamette. It can be very good smallmouth fishing, and may offer more bank fishing opportunities.

Are we of a single mind?...
I don't use leaders. I use straight fluoro or co-poly for most applications. I only use braid for specific purposes (pitching, froggin'). Braid is not an all-purpose line.

Baitcaster Drag
Engage the reel, then pull on the line hanging from your rod. See how easily it pulls out? Now turn the star wheel on your reel (located where the handle is) clockwise a turn or two. Then pull the line again. (The star wheel is your drag adjustment) When you get to the point the line pulls out only when the rod is fully bent, turn the star wheel clockwise about a 1/2 turn more. That's a good starting point. Now you can adjust the drag up or down until it slips only when a fish pulls hard. Good luck!

Why is it so difficult to find rod socks longer than 5.5 feet? I feel like this can’t be good for my 7’+ rods to keep the tip bent like this.
Rod Gloves come in many different sizes and colors, and the tips are - how can I explain it - durable and won't tangle, unravel, or get hung up in the rod locker. The tips are what sold me when I compared them with other competitors. Been using them for years without any complaints.

Inflatable Life Jacket
I went back to wearing vests when running. Inflatables don't do as well at high-speed impacts. But there's more to it than life vests.

A year (or so) in the life of ww2farmer
That's insane! But on the bright side, you get to spend more time with your daughters. Take them fishing, and show them the good things life has to offer. You have a great opportunity to make some lemonade.

Coast Guard issues warning about E15 fuel
https://www.pure-gas.org/index.jsp?stateprov=IL 120 stations listed in IL. Must be something reasonably close to you. Granted, ethanol free gas isn't easy to find in my area, but I use websites like the above to find them. They're usually 92 octane, so you pay a premium for it (see what I did there?).

Will High Gas Prices Affect Your Fishing?
Keri and I have a combined age of 114 years. Tomorrow's not guaranteed and we're not going to let fuel prices stop us from enjoying ourselves while we still can.

I always use non-ethanol in my boat. Always.

Professional anglers really need to stop doing the horizontal lip-hold.
It's not such a major deal with smaller fish, just keep the angle down. No need to hold a fish sideways by his jaw even if they are small. Bigger fish = no angle at all (keep them vertical). I think there's a misconception between holding a fish at an angle vs. holding a fish by it's jaw vertically. I see some people go ballistic over photos like this, claiming the jaw is broken: It's fine to hold them this way - especially smaller fish. It's when you start to pull back on the jaw and apply pressure is when you get into trouble, or when a fish approaches/exceeds double-digits. That said, it's good practice to hold any fish over say, 4lbs, by both hands.

Seaguar's TactX braided line
Among many features of Seaguar's TactX braided line is this natural camo color that reduces line visibility. What do you think?

What's your FAVORITE rod in your arsenal?
My new St. Croix Legend Tournament rods. This rod is better than my custom rods! I have a baitcaster and spinning rod, and both are incredibly light, sensitive, and powerful. I have a hard time putting them down!
