  1. A huge legend and even bigger man. He will be greatly missed.
  2. Yup, this^^ Do this, pull out line a bit until you feel resistance (don't pull hard!), then do this again, repeat. Heckofalotfaster than picking out your line. Yup, this^^ Plus I like to get my lure really low to the water, which means occasionally I hit the cowling or trolling motor with my lure, which is followed by an instant "woof!" LOL
  3. x2 on the Smackdown. I used to use PowerPro, but Smackdown is more supple and thinner than PowerPro. It's easier to handle and tie knots. Also, I had problems with PowerPro fraying. Smackdown doesn't do that.
  4. Seems we hear this every year. So here's a reminder of the kind of stuff that's exchanged. And if you're interested in participating this year, here's how to sign up:
  5. Hey folks! We get this question every now and then, and it's difficult to explain how to do it. So I made this video to help. Bookmark it for future reference so you can use it to help others in the future. Enjoy!
  6. Hey Sam, Just curious if you still have your house guest?
  7. I've been with many guides. Usually I just want a good day on the water when I don't have access to a boat. So I really don't care about waypointing anything, or telling people where we went. Usually it's on a new lake (to me), so I couldn't tell you even if I wanted to. LOL However, I did once hire a guide to learn how to navigate hazardous waters in my own boat and a new body of water I had never fished. With his permission, we went in my boat, and drove all over hill-and-dale for 4 hours, making trails along all the safe routes - especially in hazardous areas where there weren't any maps available. We stopped to fish a couple of times because, hey, you just can't go on the water without fishing! LOL But really, the trip was about saving my lower unit on subsequent trips, not learning "his spots". I spent hundreds of hours later finding my own areas and learning the water even more. If you want a guide to teach you the water, have him show you how to fish it and pattern it, rather than showing you spots. So, it's all about knowing what you want in a trip, and being upfront with your guide before you go.
  8. I think it's ok for you to use them yourself; just not blab them around to everyone else. That's how I see it.
  9. That's not how I interpret it. It sounds like he was concerned you would tell everyone about the spots. He had an upcoming tournament and didn't want those spots to get hammered.
  10. PM me your city. I'll look into it.
  11. This should be good. Mine would be catching 47 bass in 2 hours. It was nearly every cast.
  12. It's me. Kinda. I changed the profile fields to text-only, and in doing so, it added visible HTML tags to existing entries. I've been cleaning them up, but when I save the changes, the map marker automatically updates too - even though I didn't touch it. Odd bug. I haven't figured that one out yet. But to fix it, you can just right-click on your marker and remove it. Then you can add it back at the right location.
  13. Yes, he does, as does every single pro angler on all the major circuits, along with an extensive list of fishing industry's who's who. I know of several that are quite active here under benign aliases. If you only knew.
  14. This is a big milestone! I'm glad y'all like the site - it's been a labor of love, to say the least. But the forums - it's all you. You folks are what makes these forums so great. And mods keep them organized and keep out the riff raff. I can't tell you how pleased I am to see so many people helping each other out, passing along tips and information - I'm simply amazed. You're what makes this all worthwhile for me -- I've learned some new tricks from you too! Thank YOU for coming here, contributing, and being an important part of our world.
  15. Sorry for your loss.
  16. What about your anti-virus software? Are you blocking cookies there? Or do you have anti ad software set to block ads (sometimes that's a setting in Chrome, sometimes that's included in anti-virus software). Honestly, unless you're visiting sites that are super ad-heavy (who would?), then you don't need to block ads, because often it ends up blocking other things you want. I promise you, nobody designs websites for people that block cookies and ads.
  17. We'll be staying home this year, but visiting via Zoom. We celebrate apart today, so we can celebrate together tomorrow.
  18. Welcome home! We're glad you're here.

  24. I reviewed your profile, and it looks like you're not using "remember me" when logging in. Could you log out, select this, then log in, then log out and log in again also with this selected. Let me know if you then get the same issue after doing this.
  25. Given I'm from "coffee country", enjoying an espresso martini tonight.
