I used to consider myself a spinnerbait/power fisherman. And for good reason - I caught a lot of fish doing it. It took me a long time to get away from the "favorite" lure/technique syndrome. Once I did, it opened my mind to finding the fish, and learning more about what they wanted to bite that day; vs. trying to feed them what I wanted to throw (and where). Now I catch even more fish. I don't recall the last time I got skunked since I made the transition. Had some tough days, to be sure. But at least I can catch a few each time I go out, even on the toughest days.

Just an fyi - but I know a number of pros that are placing their Plano Rustrictor boxes in with their rods/reels storage compartments in their boats. It actually helps protect them, in addition to protecting your lures. Kinda of a 2-fer your money.

So...what I'm hearing is that you must adapt to the tool (the line), rather than using the right tool for the job. Got it. Braid is not a universal line, nor a silver bullet. It definitely has it's place, but it's not a all-purpose line. If you find yourself changing everything in an attempt to compensate for using braid, you're using the wrong line for that technique.

Looks like our forum friends in southern California got a pretty good one today. From what I hear, there's damage to roads and buildings, but no major injuries. Nonetheless - check in if you're from that area, just to let us know you're ok!

I only use braid for frogs or flipping/punching/pitching into heavy cover. I'm using stronger, larger, stout hooks in those applications, so a strong hookset is necessary. I don't use braid for anything else.
