  1. I still use it it one key situation. And that key situation is topwater fishing. Monofilament really does well for top waters for several reasons. First of all, monofilament, it floats. So, when you're using a topwater it's not gonna drag that bait down. But even better, this is what happens with bass anglers and I'm guilty as well. When that bass blows up on that lure, you want to set the hook really hard and right away. Sometimes, you jerk that lure away too quick and the bass doesn't get hooked. Well, monofilament has that stretch to it and so it gives that fish a little more time to grasp on to that lure before you jerk it away, and you can set the hook better. The other thing about monofilament is that typically with topwater baits like jerk baits, zara spooks, things like that, poppers. They have small treble hooks - real thin wire treble hooks. That monofilament, that stretch is what you need in that. Once you hook that fish and you're fighting back to the boat, it's gonna have that give to prevent that fish from throwing that hook or straightening it out or worse yet, breaking the line off. So, that's why I like monofilament for topwater.
  2. Don't go cheap. Remember....if she doesn't like it, you get to keep it.
  3. Which "Long Lake"? There's a few in WA.
  4. Looking forward to giving these a workout. The new BOOYAH ToadRunner Jr!!
  5. Got my Kastking Bass Assassin spooled up with Kasting SuperKast9 braided line. Lookout fish! Its' go time!
  6. No. They usually have no issues if they're released right away.
  7. Believe it or not, reel faster. The line will "whip" out and clear the spool lip. Here's how I spool the line, AND how to prevent line twist (hint: it's more than just how you spool the line).
  8. Woo hoo! Sounds great! And if it's too expensive, then have breakfast prior and just stop by for coffee. And yes, I'll be wearing my jersey at the expo. Looking forward to meeting everyone! Glenn
  9. Might want to try it first before assuming... Muse Muse Black 13 Omen 13 Muse Black
  10. Ok then, Hilton it is!
  11. Let's do Cafe 4 at 8:00am Saturday. That way folks can make their way to the expo before the gates open at 10:00 (pro tip - plan to go to the Expo at 10:30. The lines will be gone and you won't have to stand in line for an hour.) Dinner sounds great, but after going to over a dozen of these, planning a dinner for a large group is difficult. And if you haven't made your reservations by now, well.... good luck. Speaking of which, can somebody make reservations at Cafe 4 under my name for...10 people? Does that sound about right?
  12. Hmm... just looking at pictures, but Pete's looks to be both very popular and very small. It's unlikely they could accommodate a large group of folks like us during the Classic weekend, given it's proximity to the Expo. IT will probably be packed. Perhaps there's another nearby locale that will work? Maybe at a nearby hotel like the Hilton? Looking at the locals for a little guidance here.
  13. Ok, let's do Saturday. Breakfast? The Expo opens at 10:00, so...8:30am at Pete's Coffee Shop. How does that sound? I'm not local there, so if that doesn't work, I prefer a local help coordinate this. Thanks! Glenn

It was an auto-protect mechanism due to an earlier hacking attempt. I think it's fixed now.
  15. Ummm.... yeah.... about that. Unless his transducer is from the 70's, he needn't be concerned. It's akin to saying the high-beam foot switch might short out from over-use. Your transducer is fine. They aren't affected whatsoever by running them out of water. Hasn't been a problem for decades.
  16. @MN FisherI prefer FC these days due to it's sensitivity. DS'ing is finesse tactic that used primarily when the bite is slow and subtle. So the ability to detect those very light bites is important. I'll take any edge I can get that helps me detect those little nibbles. So FC is the answer for me. That said, there's no "wrong" way of doing it. I started off by saying "these days", because originally when DS started to become popular on the west coast in the early 90's, I was using co-polymer. And I caught a lot of fish that way. And if budget was an issue, I'd still go with co-polymer as my second choice. Mono is a good option as well. I just wouldn't use braid. It's visible and has no stretch, which is a bad thing when you're using light-wire hooks.
  17. So...using a jighead in a tube just like I show in my video.
  18. It actually is the Bite Me jig, but without the weedguard. Same exact thing, just without the weedguard. You're looking for the Bite Me Jig w/weedguard. That's what's in the video. The wires don't touch the line tie, hence there's no interference. Never had any problems with line breaking with this jig. Weeds do not collect on this jig, other than what you would normally see with a traditional Texas-rigged bait. I see it's no longer available on Amazon. I bought them AT a Bass Pro Shops - in the store, not online. They're not available online, so stop looking for them online. You need to go into a BPS.
  19. I use straight fluoro for dropshotting, either Seaguar Tatsu or Seaguar Fluoro Finesse. I never use leaders. I've had no reason to use them. Leaders are too much hassle, too many problems.
  20. My wife says she sees our long-gone cats our of the corner of her eye every now and then. Once I swore I caught a glimpse of one of them on our bed, looking at me like she always did. Strange games the mind plays. Maybe it's real, maybe not. Hard to say.

  22. Coldest and snowiest February on record for my area - 4 snowiest month on record...ever. Since Feb 2, every day has had temps below freezing (the norm is less than 7 days). Current forecast for the next 10 days calls for below freezing lows, and highs around 40 (about 10-15 degrees below normal). The snow just won't melt
  23. So what's the plan Stan? When and where?
  24. So... having both fished with several Elite pros as well as my wife, I can say the guys do what all guys do (overboard). Nothing different there. The women? Just like @MN Fisher said...in a container, then dump it overboard. We're all adults. No big deal.
