  1. This can be used for many, many things. A quick text to G-O-O-G-L-E (466453) will get you any information you could need. Phone numbers, weather, movie times, flight statuses, stock quotes, driving directions, and much more. Google's web page will tell you the exact codes to use for each, but it goes basically like this: Text: Movie Times 60622 (zip code) Reply: 1) Gran Torino, 2) Defiance 3) Valkeyrie, etc. then Text: 1 Reply: Movie Times for Gran Torino near 60622...
  2. If you are looking to start a business, and want to protect the name, you can do it through the state for about 15 bucks. At least that is the case in TX. I went down to the County Clerk's office, performed a public records search to make sure that my name idea wasn't already in use, then paid 15 bucks and registered it. Now that is only to protect the business name in Texas, not any other state. You may do something through the Sec. of State's office for a national registry.
  3. You're right I misread it. Apologies. Anyway, if it were me, I'd go to the draft and take the money as soon as possible. I've hurt myself enough doing everyday things that I know how easily you can get hurt on the field. College will always be there. Tiger left Stanford to go to the PGA. I'm not sure he ever second guesses that decision. Anyway, who are we to critique a decision that we will never have to make? Both of those guys will be big time players at the next level when they decide to go.
  4. Perhaps he wants to be only the second person EVER to win two heisman trophys :-/ Except Archie Griffin already won two heismans, a long time ago. This year, Tebow could have been the first player to win back to back heismans, but not the first to win two. As far as getting a college degree goes, you can always go back and get your degree later, if things don't work out in the NFL. If you come back for another year of college football, you are opening up the possibility of a career ending injury before ever making any money from football. Matt Mauck, the QB from LSU's 2003 championship team, had the option of dental school or the NFL. He went to the NFL with the Broncos and later the Titans, it didn't work out, and is now enrolled in dental school at University of Colorado.
  5. Remember the date and time you said that. I think they'll make a strong run next year, even if Tebow and Bradford stay. As for the original post, I can't understand why they didn't go. I mean college is fun, but more fun than the NFL? Maybe Bradford wants to win an NC, which makes sense, but what more does Tebow want to accomplish in college football? He has 2 titles, 2 SEC titles, and a Heisman. Give yourself a new challenge kid.
  6. Yeah after yesterday and today I can now say that I know what true cold feels like. Even the dog didn't want go outside. It was funny when he did though, because he was trying to walk with only two feet on the ground because it was so cold. He looked like those lizards you see in the desert.
  7. I'm not so sure I agree with you on that Tin. When I had my ACL surgery they shaved most of my leg--from about mid calf up to mid thigh. That was mid-November. It still looks bare even now. I might prefer the quick rip
  8. Congrats on the healthy win. I don't know if I should thank you or get mad for the PokerStars tip. Thanks to you I was up playing until almost 5:00 this morning ;D
  9. How/where do you play online? I used to play a lot of online poker, but I can't deposit money from a credit/debit card or checking account anymore. What gives? Good luck on the tourney by the way.
  10. It depends a lot on where you live, obviously. In Texas, for instance, property taxes are really high, but there is no state income tax. So it probably just comes out in the wash... Your tax rate does seem huge though. If you want to do some investigating, almost every county/parish in the country has a website for their tax assessor. The website will have search function that you can use to look up any property and see the assessed value of other properties. For example: http://www.bossierparishassessor.org/cgi-bin/pro_search.pl That's the tax assessor for Bossier Parish, Louisiana, where I grew up. Spent a lot of time on that site back in my days as a Realtor.
  11. You are right about that. ESPN Gameday did a special on the eye black earlier this season. It all started with Reggie Bush at USC, he put his zip code on the black, then everyone else started doing it.
  12. Wow

I guess I should start taking them seriously. That makes two weeks now where I almost put Fitzgerald on my fantasy team, but didn't because I didn't think they would be able to do much. Luckily I had Warner though, he was good for 15 or 16 points today. Meanwhile, Steve Smith and DeAngelo Williams were good for nothing!
  13. I thought I just imagined that! He pretty obviously cranked Harvin's foot over, knowing he has a weak ankle. On a side note, that is now the second time Florida has run the option with the pitch going inside. That's a new one for me, and one that I really like to watch.
  14. The Dark Knight was good, but I have to give my vote to one of the under-praised films of the year: "Rock 'N Rolla" by Guy Ritchie. In the midst of all his marital distractions, he managed to make another brilliant movie.
  15. Running play: Split backs formation (pro-style set), quick toss to the weak side. Put the fullback in motion out to the weak side, to get a good lead block. It will rarely go far, but it's the best way to get a first on 3rd and 3 or 4. Pass Play: Split backs again, QB Rollout. The receiver to the strong side runs a slant in, then a slant back out. He is almost always open. And if that receiver happens to be T.O., it's a TD more often than not. If there is any problem to Madden '09, it's that T.O. was made ridiculously too good. Yeah, he's a decent receiver, but not THAT good.
  16. One positive about the NFL though, is that the teams are starting to incorporate some college plays into their playbooks. The Giants and the Cowboys are both running a spread/shotgun formation draw play very effectively, and Flaco and the Ravens run a little triple option from time to time.
  17. That is actually one thing about the NFL that I like. I think that if you are going to err, you should err on the side of overprotection. But on the subject of erring... The officiating is terrible this year. My biggest gripe is with fumbles: too often a fumble is made, but the ruling on the field is incomplete pass (chargers/broncos) or that the runner was down by contact, meaning that the play was dead, so anything that happens after, like returning the fumble for a TD, is void. In my opinion, the call on the field should always be fumble, then go to the booth and review it after. If it actually was an incomplete pass or down by contact, you don't screw anybody. But if you whistle the play dead, you can't change that after review. And overtime has got to change to be more like college overtime. Nine times out of ten, basically it comes down to who wins the coin toss. Like in my Saints/Bears game earlier this year, the bears won the toss and got ball first. So the first play, they throw 50 yards downfield, get a spot-foul pass interference call on an (in my opinion) uncatchable pass, which puts them in field goal range. They then ran three plays, and didn't gain a single yard, but were able to kick a field goal and win, without the Saints offense ever getting a chance to play. Not fair. At all.
  18. I've been worthless for about a week now. On wednesday, I'm done with this job and moving up to Chicago, so I'm just watching the clock and crossing off the days...
  19. I used to work in retail at Banana Republic, and we would have a lot of confused customers. Not only were instore prices different from online prices, but different stores had different prices on different items. For instance, the store that I worked at in Shreveport, LA didn't get a lot of winter stuff (for obvious reasons), and the winter stuff that we did get went on sale almost instantly, while the same item in Dallas or New York was full price much longer.
  20. That's what college football is for. Spend your Sunday's fishing or at the golf course, but every saturday you get: At least 2 games on ABC, one on NBC (though it'll probably be Notre Dame, and really, who cares), two or more on CBS, at least 2 on ESPN, 2 on ESPN 2, one or two on VS., and another on FSN. And don't even get me started with the NFL Network. In the past 2 weeks I've run up about $100 in bar tabs to watch the Saints/Bears thursday night game and the cowboys/ravens saturday game.
  21. Duel. That's one of the first movies that I can remember watching. My dad and I were on a trip somewhere, spending the night in a motel, and we watched that one. I couldn't have been older than 5. But I also like the Charlie Sheen movie, I think it's just called "The Chase." It's really cheesy, but man that woman was smokin!
  22. Definitely the best entreprenurial advice for this economy! How does the saying go again? "Only three things in life are certain: death, taxes, and the cubs will choke?"
  23. See, you say that now, but you can enjoy your summers, while in Texas from April to October we have to plan our days around the availability of air conditioning. I have always thought that any outdoor activity is less enjoyable in extreme heat than extreme cold. You can always put on an extra layer, but most places won't let you fish naked!
  24. My business, residential property management, is going great. Of course, that's the way it is when the housing market is terrible--even if people can't buy a home, they still have to live somewhere, which means renting. The only problem is, I hate this business, and am ready to do something else...
  25. I'll give you ten to one that the airlines don't remove the checked bag fees
