  1. Some micro jigs i’ve been making, 1/8th ounce with a size 1 hook, will be killer in cold clear water! I’ve been tying with frogs hair rubber and thin cut silicone from livingrubber. Does anyone know of any other good sources of fine cut silicone? Micro trd for scale
  2. Couldn't agree more, it’s amazing how “cool” and new they can make songs that are 100+ years old, they are doing great things for bluegrass.
  3. Forgot to add the rage menace, my most effective double flapper soft plastic by far, I used to love the smaller paca craws too, I think they actually also make a really tiny one I need to try.
  4. sweet beaver on a jig looks way more like a craw than any craw bait, no idea why but i’ve never done great on rage craw style baits, baby brush hogs and beavers work great for me though.
  5. he’s extremely talented forsure, also very diverse. They put on one of the best live shows a person could imagine too 😅
  6. a bit crude in its subject matter maybe but a good song that even includes some fishing. Does anyone else in here listen to Billy Strings?
  7. Some days I really like to junk fish and just cycle through what I think will work until I put something together and catch a few, very often though I have one or two techniques that i’m obsessed with learning more about and I stick with those. I don’t think one way is better than the other, you are still learning and spending time out in nature either way. I would also add that you can’t really master a technique of you only throw it during the times that the internet/magazine/pro on tv tells you it should work.
  8. You should check out some Ozark streams that have smallmouth in them, very similar to trout fishing and often action packed! Not sure how far it is from you but the illinois river in eastern Oklahoma near Talequah is an incredible fishery with giant smallmouth and a variety of other species, you can rent a Kayak or canoe for the day and they will drop you off and pick you up, about the most fun you a person can have for 30 bucks these days.
  9. do you use the shad’s or just the regular shadow raps?
  10. I often use the “step on” technique for shortening and/or removing guides from my rods.
  11. KVD 200 has super erratic action, pointer 78 and 95 , h2o ultimate jerkshad, husky jerks, and the headhunter vision 120 knockoffs
  12. baby bass is my favorite all around color, pearl is my favorite when the water is dirty and i’m working it through flooded brush.
  13. Shimano slx and a medium action berkley lightning rod with 10lb big game. Caught so many fish on that set up over the last few years.
  14. I’ve been wondering if you could drill out a hole for a weedguard into any jighead?
  15. I fish a super pressured clear 62 acre pond and just discovered a deadly technique today, I took a 2 inch powerbait minnow and suspended it in the water column about 7 feet deep with a bobber and just let the wind drift it along, instantly hooked up with three healthy bass. It’s called “float and fly” but instead of a fly I just used a tiny fluke style bait, definitely worth a try if your water is clear and nothing else is working!
  16. I use stren mono, trilene xl, berkley big game, and original power pro braid for frogs. Mono is cheap, hard to break, holds knots well, and just doesn’t break on fish when your drag is properly set, it’s impossible to beat imo.
  17. fluke jr weightless, 4 inch senko weightless, 4 and 7 inch power worms texas rigged, booyah pond magic spinnerbait, a popper, mini max chatter bait, smaller jerkbaits, ned rigs, 2.8/3.8 swimbaits and some crappie jigs would keep you catching every day of the week imo.
  18. I’ve never broken one on a fish but they usually get retired after about that many fish or sooner because they start getting hard to tune. The kvd compact spinnerbaits are great as are the war eagle baits. I hate that they get torn up and hard to tune relatively quickly but as a bank angler spinnerbaits are a must have search bait for me especially in the spring and fall.
  19. with the smaller jerkbaits like the pointer 65 I love to switch between twitching it and cranking it in. Do a few twitches, burn it, pause it, twitch it, burn it etc.
  20. kalins makes a good hair jig for like 5 bucks for a four pack, they catch the crap out of trout and smallies and while i’ve never used a 7+ dollar hair jig I can’t imagine i’m missing out on much.
  21. Bfs is a blast! I’ve been having great luck on black kalins Maribou jigs, pointer 65 jerkbaits, and the z man micro finesse stuff.
  22. LC silent Pointer 95 in American Shad has a very Shad like profile and fish feeding on Shad just absolutely hammer the thing, not a replica but a similar size, shape, color, and profile. Sorry just saw you said soft bait, my bad
  23. You’re very right, it’s actually absurd how much a t rigged beaver being hopped looked like a fleeing crawfish. It’s the exact same movement/profile.
  24. They look cool, I would be shocked if they are better than say a beaver on a football head or something similar. It seems like these realistic craw baits never work as good as you would think although I wouldn’t be suprised if megabass put in the work to design a bait that catches BOTH fish and fisherman, they are good at both.
  25. Looks like a winner, I always pull the side legs off of my rage bug, this is similar enough it may replace the rage bug for me.
