I use a heavy rod with 30lbs braid. Tied on a monster treble and use some split shots. I like to take a white senko and wacky rig it so I can attempt to see my bait as I'm reeling closer to the target. Just make sure to bring your polarized glasses.

So I was fishing with a plastic worm and felt a hit, I set the hook and started cranking but this thing was hardly moving. It took some drag out 2 or 3 different times and I started to get excited thinking I might be fighting a PB. Well it turned out to be a dadgum soft shell turtle, and a freaking big one at that. > I dragged it on shore to try and remove the hook. I flipped it over so it wouldn't go running everywhere. Took my pliers out and tried everything to get that hook but all I ended up doing was bending the hook till it was almost straight. I finally gave up and cut him loose. :-/ So is it possible that turtles can rust out a hook too? Or did I just give him a permanent piercing? Do soft shells have the same jaw strength as normal turtles, should I be extra careful with my fingers? I had another one go after a bait but luckily I didn't hook him. It sucks because this pond holds some nice fish, I caught my PB out of it, but there are TONS of these darn turtles.

I choose watermelon red flake. Make sure you have 4/0 or 5/0 hooks to rig them with.

They'll still bite it Spro frogs will work, but I really like the soft plastic frogs. Try out the RageTail toads or the Ribbit frogs. Just make sure if you get a hit on topwater to give the fish about 2 seconds before setting the hook. People tend to try and set the hook when they see the splash and it will yank the bait out of their mouth. Congrats on breaking in the new gear.

I wear my nasty shoes and I don't think for a second they are coming home without mud on them. I usually wade out to my knees. I also have set up a nice shore fishing bag. It holds all my equipment and is worn like a backpack, that way I can keep moving spots without having to grab my gear. I carry 2 rods around the shore.

I fished that resort about 10 years ago. We rented a paddle boat one day but mostly just fished from the shore and the dock. It is probably completely different then when I was there. I just remember my cousin caught himself a mallard duck, that was interesting to say the least.

Maybe you should go with 1 Compre, 1 clarus, and 1 convergence. This way you still get 3 good rods and you could stagger them with which reels and fishing techniques you reach to most often. I kinda face the same decision as you because I could buy 2 clarus, 1 for the new BC im buying and 1 for my old spinning reel or I could get a compre for the BC and a convergence for the spinning. Since the reel I'm purchasing will be superior I am opting to pair it with a better rod too. It also takes into account that I will fish my main set up the majority of the time. But if you think that the compre will increase fatigue and be uncomfortable then that would weigh heavily in favor of the clarus. Another one of those personal preference answers. ;D Of course if you are patient and don't mind used goods then just keep your eyes peeled on the flea market, there was a thread selling compres and a clarus just recently.

hmm, does anyone know the difference between the code for sale: AC70MF and under the normally priced avids it's AVC70MF? Maybe I missed a detail or something but what is that V for?

AC70MF would this be a good all around rod? I would be pairing it with a citica 200E and fishing mostly plastics with it. I was going to probably pair the reel with a 6'6 Compre MH/F or XF. But for only 10$ more this might be a steal on this rod.
