  1. I also enjoying learning about the RL person behind the screen. Which is why I think I like the lunkerville show so much.
  2. That will be a very good all around bassin combo. You can't go wrong with the shimano set up. I prefer 30lbs braid, but it all depends on what kind of structure you'll be fishing most. I drag a lot of my fish out of thick lilly pads. Have fun, and make sure to update us with some pics.
  3. You are awesome bobby, and there are some good lookin fish in this thread. Not sure if I was in time so I went out and bought one anyways bc of all the praise and mostly pics Ive been seeing. I can't wait to try it out, hopefully this weekend.
  4. I think Snapper G and I are both looking to buy a BC set up in about the same range. He keeps asking questions that relate perfectly for me.
  5. It just happens sometimes stumpy. Either not enough oxygen in the water or the fish get shocked from a change in water temperature. It's just like when you fish with live bait and end up with floaters, sometimes they just get too stressed. Sometimes it is due to irresponsibility in keeping up with your livewell but many times it can just be bad luck even when you do everything right. There are many responsible Anglers that monitor their catch constantly.
  6. The theory is that having less cork results in more sensitivity from the blank.
  7. Dang, I think your son could out fish me. Quite impressive for a little guy all by himself. Great story.
  8. I think you have to click on someone's name to see their profile and add them as a buddy or private message. Welcome.
  9. I have used the Citica 200dsv and I like it a lot. It is on sale right now for 89.99 to make way for the new Citicas coming out.
  10. yeah gotta have those scissors of a sharp knife
  11. I have 30lbs suffix on my spinning outfit also and I have experienced the same thing. I also experienced it with PowerPro. Here is my understanding of what happens, braid is very strong and very small diameter. When you catch a fish and set the hook with braid it can dig into the line that is on your spool. So after the fish is off and you cast hard enough to get that section out then it will knot up. The remedy is supposed to be that you set your drag looser then you would fishing mono, because of the zero stretch in braid it won't effect your hookset but may help this problem. Also you can use a lighter power rod or faster action with braid, and you don't need that bone jarring hookset anymore, just a stern flick of the wrist will put the hook through the fishes upper lip. All that being said, it didn't work for me when I respooled with Suffix. I still get those knots randomly and they are frustrating. I can say that with the PowerPro that problem went away once the line got used more and got softer. I don't really know, I'll be looking for answers in this thread also.
  12. I learned on my Dad's Righty and I will be purchasing a Righty soon.
  13. Nice fish. That kayak fishing looks like a lot of fun.
  14. My understanding is that with a spinning reel when you cast there is more friction because the line rubs the top part of the spool as it comes off. When casting a baitcaster the movement of the spool helps pull the line off with less friction. Just a flick of the wrist can send it sailing.
  15. definitely Mike D, followed closely by Roland Martin.
  16. I'm super jealous if that was average size. It's always good to see that red LBH boat in a video, keep em' coming.
  17. I fished during tropical storm Fay from the bank. I was catching fish 5 feet in front of me in the new weeds and bushes that went under. Tally got over 10inches I believe. Hit up any spots that will be new to the bass if the water rises that much.
  18. There is one thing you should have done that would have been very nice. After hooking one you should have asked him if he wanted to reel it in. LOL. ;D
  19. I did the exact same thing about 2 weeks ago while learning. What I did is leave my spinning rod at home and force myself to fish the baitcaster. I also took about 10 minutes each night for a week and practiced casting in my backyard. Now I can easily throw the baitcaster farther and the accuracy is catching up quick. Keep with it and practice and I think you will start reaching for the baitcaster over the spinning soon, I know I do.
  20. Soooo, what Tallahassee lake was that? Pretty please
  21. Feel free to send handy downs to RoseAngler I held the Curado 200E7 yesterday and it was insanely compact and light. I am in line for the new Citica 200E and am very excited.
  22. When do the new episodes from Lake Champlain come out? Since you posted the thread about your trip with LBH I've watched every episode you have online. Love the show and I am anxiously waiting the new episodes arrival. Keep up the good work. 8-)
  23. Yeah yeah, i know...though I don't always practice. I was using this set up b/c it is not my rod & reel but a friend let me borrow it for a couple weeks so I could become more comfortable with casting. I am purchasing soon. And after yesterday I will be looking at MH/F rods. I was using Gamgatzu(sp) 4/0, brand new hooks so unless the bass were very small then it shouldn't have been a problem. But there have been a lot more dinkers around since Fay brought the lake way up. I knew it wasn't me ;D I bet the bait monkey is secretly behind this, he wants me to buy new and better gear
