  1. So I went to Tallahassee's brand new sportsman warehouse today and I ran into the Rage Tail brand plastics. Immediately I remembered seeing the banner here, and more importantly reading multiple posters boast about them. I picked up a package of Rage Craws, watermelon red & Rage Toads, watermelon red flake. How exactly should I be working these baits? The rage craw says c-rigged, t-rigged, or weightless so I'm assuming I just work it kinda slow on the bottom like a senko worm if I weight it. Which is your favorite way to rig the Craw? Do I work the frog on top water with a fast retrieval? Your input is appreciated, I'll be on Lake Munson at 7am tomorrow morning so hopefully they work out.
  2. braid - palomar knot always mono - a variation of the uni, not sure what it's called. I drew a diagram, maybe I never knew the name... :-?
  3. I'm modifying a 1232 jon boat right now and I am hesitant to put a casting deck on the front. When I have taken the boat out it just seems like it would not be stable enough, especially if there were 2 people in it. What I decided to do is just install a floor level carpeted deck, it only raises 2 inches above the bottom of the boat. I am also going to install seats on 1 foot mounts, this way the seats almost serve as a bass butt seat, just enough support to not fall off and fish practically standing up. I'm just too worried about falling off and losing my gear.
  4. I just enjoy being on the water, studying the habits of the fish, studying new baits and how to fish them. I also like some competition, but that can be handled by each of my buddies throwing in a few bucks for the most fish and the largest when we go out.
  5. It is interesting that when I go grouper fishing anything at the legal limit I'm taking home to eat, but for bass I am releasing everything. I guess it just seems like bass have a lot more obstacles stacked up against them with the development of lakes. Also I've tasted it once and I just don't enjoy the fresh water taste.
  6. I have read so many different things on this... a) Don't use pressurized wood, the chemicals are not good for aluminum boats? b.) Don't treat the plywood with any water sealant b/c the water still gets in but just has no way to get out and will rot? c) Must I strip the old paint from the aluminum boat to put on a new coat? Some questions I have about the project I am about to go into. I have looked through as many jon boat project threads as I could find on here but they all presented a little differently, just curious if those ppl would have done it different if they started over? thanks.
  7. Florida State has an excellent exercise science program. That is my cousin's major and he enjoys the program. I have another cousin that is in PT school at UF...but i wouldn't go there
  8. Costa Del Mar - I have 2 pair and they are great.
  9. I own the jr. have caught some decent fish on it. I agree with the poster above, i didn't add any weight and it will sail.
  10. I caught a PB today and all i have is my dad gum cell phone camera. My dad turned off texting so i cant send it to the internet, at least i can show ppl in person. Anyways I'll meet you at the store, im getting a disposable camera and scale too.
  11. They do fall apart easy, I go through bag after bag of them. After catching a fish if the tip of the worm was ripped by the line I will just cut about a half inch off and re-rig it, you can still catch fish with half a worm, I was desperate once. My favorite thing about the senko is that i can cast it double the distance of a regular worm. I've never fished the Yamamoto senkos...these ones are half the price and work great.
  12. I just bought one of these lures and caught two 5 lbs-ers this morning. They didn't seem to mind that the lure goes under when popped. But then I lost the pop-r to a turtle... :sigh:
  13. Maybe this question would deserve a new thread but, I am pretty new to bass fishing and my tackle box consist of senkos, plastic worms, a topwater frog, and a 1/2oz crankbait. These suggestions sound great and I would love to try it out but all the lures and lingo are confusing. Is there a thread with pictures that show which lures are which so the bait monkey can sufficiently pick my pocket. I would like to purchase some new lures bc I think the bass might be getting tired of my same old worm presentation but with only the names it gets confusing. If you can link me to something that would be great.
  14. Sometimes it is hard to get used to fishing new baits if you haven't fished them before or haven't often. I like to walk the shore and test as many ways as I can when I get a new bait. I've also rigged them up and thrown them in my swimming pool to see what kind of action I am putting on it. I agree that you guys should take out someone more experienced, I went with my Uncle just last weekend and learned a lot from just watching how he works different baits and I actually kind of adopted his hook set style. My bread and butter is just a texas rigged senko worm, if I'm running in a drought I will always go back to it, and go for some smaller fish to get that feeling back. Just hang in there, and remember to enjoy the trip even when you aren't hooking up.
  15. haha i'm sorry. I was just too excited and gave all the details of the trip : firefightn15- yeah I need a digital scale! I have one of those combos that have the scale and measuring tape in one. When I weighed them both(the two PB's) they were between 2.5 lbs and 3 lbs. I think your right and its time to get the exact weight Thanks guys! Great looking fish. I know what you mean, whenever I catch a nice fish or catch one under strange circumstances the first thing i want to do is tell someone the story
  16. go with fish with Tebow, Im sure he is a pro at it
  17. yeah, 2005 trailer = a lawn mower trailer. I just didn't really want that and he would sell boat and trolley only for 450. I think im just getting too impatient and Im going to just wait for what is right. Shore fishing isnt that bad.
  18. Sorry to rebump this, I just dont have anyone else's opinions to ask really, I value ya'lls experienced opinions. From all the ads I have dug through this popped out as a clear deal barring any untold damage or missing title. It is a lot more then I planned on spending but when I showed my dad and told him I needed to go to the bank tomorrow he responded with no you don't, I am the bank. If the guy doesn't have the title then I wont want to deal with him. But otherwise I'm just hoping for some reassurance that I'm not wasting my dad's money. It was posted at 6pm this afternoon, so Im going to call the guy tomorrow and try to lock it up if there are no gimmicks.
  19. it was sold already by the time i called today.... > On with the search...
  20. ahh, the voice of reason. Well the reason is because I'm a poor college student and it's only 75 bucks. I've been looking for awhile and maybe im getting desperate. I have a 3 week break coming up before the fall semester starts and I was hoping to be able to mod a boat and fish the whole time.
  21. Hmm, I found a local one that needs some help...does anyone have experience with JB weld? Would I be okay to repair this crack with it?
  22. I think that plastic worms are the easiest bait to get started with. I just started really getting into bass fishing recently and this forum has been a great source of information. Welcome.
  23. thanks guys, that helps a lot. the add actually says: "14ft aluminum Jon boat with title, trailer no title but easily obtained."
