  1. It's definitely worth the upgrade if you intend to stay with Shimano rods. As for the Compre being the same rod as last years Crucial, nope, in fact last year Crucials IMO are better than new crucials. Blanks are thicker, guides are bigger, anything over 7' is noticebly tip heavy, the handle is too short. I do like the new reel seat a lot though, very comfortable.
  2. I have 2 sets of stainless steel ABEC7 bearings from them and no problems. They are quality bearings. Not much difference between them and the stock bearings that I flushed from my Shimano reels though.
  3. For me, the Aruku Shad in Perch as well.
  4. I agree with this. You never hear about people having issues with their Curados. Here's something Bantam1 said: The side plates are Graphite as advertised. Notice the webbing material added around the anti reverse bearing area. We added this to add strength during heavy loads when cranking. No matter what material is used, if they take the time to pay attention to small details, they can get away with a lot.
  5. I saw the same thing a few years back at BPS. Also on a St. Croix Avid, must've been the same person LOL. I'm not sure if he reel seat was broken though. Didn't care too much about it and put it back down.
  6. If your rod doesn't break then you've got a rod working the way it should. If your rod snaps, good luck getting your replacement. I know they've had breakages issues and that is probably corrected by now, but people aren't giving them a second chance because they have poor at best customer service. They don't even have a website! It's 2014, even the smallest companies have a website.
  7. I'm still using my Shimano Clarus baitcasting rod. It was paired with a Citica, now a Curado E7.
  8. I remember my first experience at BPS, I asked if they carried Bandit crankbaits and got the same look. They didn't even know what Bandit crankbaits were.
  9. I'm one of those guys who hates the plastic drag star because I've broken one and I've seen people break theirs as well. More importantly, it's about the feel and the plastic star flexes a little bit which I don't like. I adjust my drag all the time so I want something that feels solid. As for as duribility goes, all my Shimanos have held up great and I clean them once a year.
  10. Thanks for the pictures. I was wondering if you could answer some questions. 1) Is the drag star plastic on the Curado I? How about on the Metanium? 2) Is the thumb bar the same as the metanium or ci4? Wonder if it could be swapped when parts available. 3) Is there backplay in the handle or any play in the knobs? Looking to see if they improved on this.
  11. If anyone who gets one early can do a picture comparison between the 200E side by side, I have a "Like" ready for you
  12. Green Pumpkin if I had to choose only 1 colour. If I was able to get 3 choices, Green Pumpkin, Black/Blue Flake and Watermelon/Red Flake.
  13. Only the back up baits stay in the package. I'll have 2 of each bait in the box.
  14. I'll probably end up buying one to try because I'm curious how the new braking system is compared to the old. It seems like Shimano will be using this system on all their reels in the future. I have 2 brakes on every single reel I have and have never had a reason to adjust them even in the windiest conditions and they perform fine.
  15. Sorry to hear about your loss, it's never easy. Malamute's are gorgeous dogs.
  16. Add me to that list of the Baby Brush Hogs.
  17. Survivorman, Swamp People, Pawn Stars, Shark Tank are the ones I can think of right now.
  18. If that was my friend, I would ask him why he's still around and putting up with all that if it were true. Maybe it's the kids that's keeping him around. He's definitely in a terrible situation, making all the money, no fishing, wife gets upset at anything fishing related, have to do the wife's job at home, and she wants to go on vacation with another man? Seems like she's doesn't appreciate him enough. Time to man up and lay down the law, if compromises don't work, move on.
  19. I never buy reels when they first come out or pay retail for that matter. I'll head down to the local tackle shop and check them out for sure. Wait a few months until places restock and by that time, I'll probably be able to buy it used for much cheaper. If I like the reel, by this time, places are selling way below the MSRP. You save a lot of money over time. With 15+ Curado Es, I probably paid on average $125 per reel new and in great condition.
  20. Spro Aruku Shad - Perch GYCB 4" Senko - Green Pumpkin SK KVD 1.5 - Bluegill Zoom Finesse Worm - Green Pumpkin 1/2 DW Spinnerbait - Chart/white
  21. Who are your favourite bass anglers? Growing up watching Bassmaster on the TNN Outdoors, I was already a big KVD fan and when I came back to fishing years later, I was happy and surprised to see that he was the man. Lately, I've been watching a lot of MLF, Bassmaster and this is my list. 1. KVD 2. Brent Ehrler 3. Mike Iaconelli 4. Aaron Martens Also Brandon Palaniuk is starting to become one of my favourites. The guy is a stud.
  22. Does the new Scorpion or Curado have an aluminum or plastic star drag? That can be a deal killer for me.
  23. I hate Windows 8.
  24. Send it back and get a new one.
  25. That was sort of the same thing that happened to me. I was cleaning my stash and realized that I had way too much stuff and my girlfriend was saying the same to me. I sold all the lures/baits that didn't get any use for years and kept a few of the ones I liked. I still get that urge to buy stuff that I probably won't need.
