I have an early June tournament there - I've never fished this body of water and plan on a few pre fishing trips down - any areas that would produce a big bag at that time? any pattern suggestions? go for largies or smallies? I'm willing to trade Champlain or Mass info for help at Candlewood. Any help would be appreciated and if you'd rather PM me thats cool too
  5. i haven't recorded a bag of 20+ smallies let alone 30 - thats nuts - makes me want to drive up to Champlain now and get after them
  6. 50 lb braid and a 7'6" flipping stick are my weapons of choice on a body of water like this - both for froggin and flipping
  7. so its a good thing my club scheduled tournaments next year at Candlewood and Highland - I guess i should just buy a combo northeast license (MA, CT, NH, NY, VT, RI, and ME) for $1,000 if it existed.

  10. Lake Champlain is frozen the time of year they want to go - IT IS HOWEVER God's country and has produced many 100+ days for me with amazing quality of fish - you almost think they don't have fish below 3 lbs - 25 lbs for Champlain is the average tournament 5 fish weight - go there in June!!!!

  13. I've heard this about other baits as well. I guess my question what is the legality of it during tournaments ??? I've never had 2 baits on at once but its an interesting topic. Never heard of this but i thought about how you could tie a jig on as a drop shot weight ??? sounds inviting
  14. Personally i'd choose Onota - smallies and largies - i have a tourney coming up there and i've pre fished twice now - lure selection is endless and i'd just let the fish tell you what they want to eat but i caught them on something "sexy" - hope you read into that one

  16. i was up in plattsburgh/rouses point area this past thursday-sunday...watch the wind/weather reports - lake seems to be up a little bit - i heard 22lbs won for the BFL tourney down there this past weekend - i fished up north for smallies with a few bonus larries - my thumbs are raw
  17. its a great lake...water is still down a bit...they bring it down 10 ft in the winter...it looked like it was 3 ft down this past weekend...smallies and largies

  22. bass are smarter than humans...hahaha...in terms of survival...how about when you transplant fish to another body of water which some people regularly do...they survive...hence smallies now in my LMB lake up the street (not that i mind)
