  1. yeah i believe that's beaver brook. i know of a few waterfalls that run from beaver brook what waterfall are you talking about? i've put in behind the mobil station in dracut off of lakeview ave. it's not that good down there but i managed a few. also there is a spot behind wal green (right off bridge street) can't remember the name of the actual road right now where you can put in. i put in from the spot next to wal green and traveled towards the dracut side which will lead you to the waterfall on lakeview ave, however you won't be able to canoe it because the are several fallen trees that will requires you to pick up and walk around which is tough in some spots or climb on the fallen tree and pick your canoe over. i've done it with my kayak before but that's much lighter than a canoe. however i don't know if theres many fallen trees if you would travel up stream. you can also put in above the waterfall behind the old matress store on lakeview ave which will leave you atleast a good area to fish before you would hit a fallen tree if you went upstream. i live right down the street from beaver brook
  2. is that beaver brook? there are some big bass in there, as well as big dace.
  3. massapoag is good, however i will only go there during the week early to ensure i'm the only one there. everytime i went there on the weekend there is about 10 other boats all in the same area. a shallow pond will break from the lake and the bass thrive there. you can also go into the upper half where only carptop can get in. caught some nice ones there as well but it's not as big as lower.
  4. knops pond is actually just a section of a giant body of water, it connects with lost lake and some other lake i believe. it will take a while to paddle to knops from the launch. (i fish from a kayak) however baddacook, and massapoag are closer than knops and i always tend to do better there. do you know where those places are? i fish flints and dream diner all the time, i fish from a brown kayak if you ever seen me. i've seen a few canoes in flints before.
  5. knops pond in groton has a nice stretch for shore fishing. it's on whiley road and you park on the side of the road and walk about 100 yards through the woods (there are trails). with the rain coming this weekend it might fill up the section of the merrimack below the falls with water in lowell, however if it's low, find a spot below the falls anyway where from 10 feet to 10 miles from the falls and you will slaughter smallmouth all day in the shallow water(big carp as well) also if you go to tynsborough (spelling?) and stay on middlesex road there is another street called locust road ( there is a place called the dream diner on that road) and a nice pond behind there, but it's tick infested.
  6. how much storage do you need? the cockpit is pretty big compared to other kayaks, and i just leave my tackle bag right in front of me and a water container right behind my seat which i can easily reach, i think it even has a cup holder attached but my water container is almost a whole gallon.
  7. i fish from a kayak. i bought the manatee deluxe fishing package from ll bean and i love it so far. has 2 trolling rod holders, a front rod holder, a paddle holder, a storage hatch, and a anchor check out there site.

where in new hampshire do you fish? i use size 9 rapala original floaters, but i have pretty much all the sizes. black and gold and the silver are the best colors in my opinion. i also like the skitter pop in the frog color.
  9. never been there but i hear the place is nuts
  10. how far are you willing to travel into mass? or do you just go to those places because fish and game never go there so you won't get busted.
  11. i don't fish nh, but i fish mass and i fish flints pond. by locust pond do you mean the place behind the dream diner?
  12. use meals worms with light split shot sinkers. (meal worms can fall off easy to make sure you have plenty of them and try to get the fatter ones, but they work outstanding)
  13. i've been out for bass about 6 times in the past 4 weeks and all i've used was the same 2 top water lures (storm hopper poppers) and i'm already closing in on a mix of 100 bass, pickerel, sunfish. your south of me so top water has to be fine for you. i would say around 55-60 degree would be considered a good time to start with top water however it could be much earlier
  14. i use top water 80% of the time, i was using a storm hopper popper yesterday and caught about 40 fish or so in 6 hours. however it's prob best to use once you start having warm days, which this weekend it was hot for massachusetts.
  15. yesterday i caught about 15 sunfish, 15 pickerel and 10 bass all on a popper.
  16. believe it or not i actually have caught a few bass on rapala top water originals. do you have any rooster tails ? they work well on trout, bass, and a lot of other types.
  17. the original floaters are good, i use the silver and gold colors. however if you want to use another top water get the skitter pop in the frog color. the lure is deadly in lilly padded areas. Did rapala buy storm? storm makes great lures as well. get the wild eye swim shad.
  18. alright here is the scoop, i got a new rod and reel for christmas this year reel: shimano sahara 2500 (spinning) rod: a 7' falcon medium spinning rod. the reel came with 8 pound spiderwire braided and when i tested it out in my backyard i could cast all my lures further than normal. so i took my kayak out for the first time this year( trolling with a topwater) and some clown decided to drive his boat right behind me and literally took all my line. so when i got home i put a 8 lb trilene flurocarbon line on my reel i noticed i couldn't cast some of the my lures (rooster tails, and smaller rapala floating minnows nearly as far as i could with the braided line? ( seems like it would die mid cast) is there a reason why it won't cast nearly as far? should i just stick with the braided? i am primarily a topwater lure person so any help would be appreciated.
  19. captain planet where in northeast mass do you fish? bread seems to work wonders, just toss a few pieces on top of the water and the carp will come grab them and have your hooked piece with the floating bread and your golden.
  20. bad with road names but where is 3a? if you want the ramp in lowell here it is this location will put you about 100 yards away from the boat ramp (mapquest it) 500 pawtucket blvd lowell, Massachusetts 01854. the boat ramp has about 75 parking spots it's pretty big and it's across from a big building called TYCO. i assume you will be coming from the bridge but once you see a bowling alley that's directly across from the rourke bridge you want to head towards jj boomers and the lot should be on the left within the next 5-30 seconds. sorry for the crappy directions but it's the best way i could describe it.
  21. that area is literally the best small mouth fishing in massachusetts.
  22. i will get the directions in a bit but you can only travel about a mile or so to the left of the ramp because there is a waterfall, but if you go right you can go really far.
  23. i've never ran into rock trouble above the falls, however there are a few big rocks up towards the tynsborough bridge. if you somehow manage to get below the falls there are tons of rocks. ooh i live about 10 minutes away from there in dracut
  24. i fish that part of the merrimac but i've never fished it this early. you live around the chelmsford lowell area?
