  1. I'm looking for some suggestions for some saltwater hard baits. These would be fished from shore at a marina and off a jetty with a LOT of rock and other snags. Small cuda, snapper, ladyfish and others being common in the area. I'm not looking to fill a tackle box but just a few lures to cover water when I don't have time for cut or live bait. Something I can throw with a casting setup would be nice but I have a spinning rig I can use if needed.
  2. As close as I stay to that canal, ive never fished it. From everything I've read, it seems to be a solid place to fish for both largemouth and peacock bass. Give it a shot and let us know!
  3. Shimano clarus and abu Garcia vendetta comes to mind. A little over your budget but worth it imo.
  4. Yum, that place is bangin. We usually head up there once a month or so. I'll have to try to convince my wife to let me fish after lunch/dinner
  5. I have a ul ugly stick lite on my rod rack. I use it for collecting dust.
  6. Had presidents in the past and feel they are a value at their price. I recently replaced a saros with a supreme XT but have not fished it yet. So far I can say that it's very smooth, light and well put together.
  7. Those guys are nuts. More crazy people at crazy heights http://Www.youtube.com/watch?v=WRqnTODwvEA&sn
  8. Weightless super fluke Jr trigged worked fast near the Surface. I've caught most of my peas on this bait.
  9. Caught some good peas down here on doa terror eyez worked fast near the Surface.
  10. Excellent posts clacker!
  11. Agreed. My only combo is tip heavy but I love the way it fishes. Having the tip down isn't a bad thing..
  12. I catch fish 60% of the time, all the time. I agree though, there is a bit of both involved in this sport no matter how you look at it.
  13. Got me in Miami, Hialeah and ft Lauderdale. I lold at some of the answers.
  14. I only fish from shore and have since I started fishing. Since then, I'm down to one two-piece spinning rig and a handful of various plastics. Imo, it's about confidence. The baits I've kept, I feel I can catch fish if they are in the spot I'm fishing. Also, with very limited fishing time, it works perfect for me as I'm not cutting and retying baits every few casts. I've tried carrying 2 or more rigs but I find im better suited with one and a fanny bag of tackle. Makes restocking my fishing supply cheaper too. My system may not work for everyone, but it has for me and the type of fishing I do. Btw, I'm down for a bank fishing section. Obviously it won't see the traffic the other subforums do, but it would be nice to see all bank fishing topics in one place.
  15. Thanks for everyone's replies. Found patriarchs for 150 on flea bay and may just go that route. I think the blue and carbon fiber will match with the crucials black blank really well.
  16. Bah, thats the one. You got an awesome deal! It looks like I may have to just flip a coin on this one.
  17. Very nice. The force is strong with this one.
  18. Thats another thing I forgot to mention, I want this reel to last. The rod is the only one I kept because it suits my style perfect and I don't see myself letting it go, ever. I would like the reel to have the same value.
  19. Looking to spend about 150 on the reel. The stradic and supreme xt are going for just under that on eBay. There was a patriarch in the flea market some time back that I'm still kicking myself for not picking up.
  20. Looking to replace my saros on my 7' ml/f crucial and am torn between these two. I've owned the stradic and loved it aside from being heavy and bright white. I've had presidents in the past and find them to be an excellent value at their price point but never fished a supreme except the display at bps. I've also considered the revo sx but never seen one in person. I know I'll get a lot of stradic recommendations but figure I'll ask anyways. Maybe there is another reel around that price point I'm missing? This reel may see salt water but will be rinsed right after.
  21. Thanks for the replies. 1/4 is the absolute lightest I would cast with this reel. I have a ml/f to handle anything lighter. I've been on the fence about picking one up since I started fishing but always opted for a low profile and have been pleased but something about these little round guys makes me want one. In fresh, it would probably be for heavier trigs, flukes and stick baits. I'm still not sure about what baits for salt or where to begin with since I've never really been into it but since I live so close to the ocean, I figure I mind as well get into it.
  22. Thinking about finally picking one up to use for heavier baits and maybe some saltwater fishing but would like to be a able to throw some smaller baits if needed. What's the lightest baits you guys are throwing with these small round reels? I have a 6'6 vendetta I could mount it on but I'm not sure how well it would do with something in the 1/4 oz range? If anything I'll go with a low profile BC but I've always wanted a round.
  23. I caught a duck. Well, it got tangled in my line. What I thought was rare was the fact it seemed to let me reel it in, pick it up and get the line untangled from its foot. I'll never forget that day and I'm sure he won't either.
  24. Fenwick river runner light/fast from Overstock.com and a pflueger president from ffo tackle. I tried to like ultralight tackle but find a solid light spinning rod to be so much more versatile. Ymmv. Those fenwicks come with a lifetime warranty. I've landed some chunky peas and largemouth in light cover on the rod and it handled them like a champ.
