So, How About Isaac?

My First Gator Encounter
i remember when i was 13 or so, i was staying at a friends house who was on the c-100 canal. well , his mother went into the kitchen and came out screaming. we go in there to find a 3-4ft moccasin on the kitchen floor and he was not ready to go back outside. mean mofos indeed.

Wow How Things Do Change
I love me some crystal method. Not too much on the dubstep thing though. Kinda reminds me when I was in my teens and tiesto and DJ Alice were on top of mainstream trance. i think that's who they were. I could never let myself go to a rave even when I was into that stuff. Pookie heads are something else. Now that metal, I can get down to that. My fiance hates it when I have my metal jam sessions and im sure my neighbor does too but it's just fantastic. Made of hate, mors principium EST, quo vadis, older lunarsea and sonic syndicate are some of my favs. I'll post some links when im off my phone.

Top Ten Soft Plastics . . . Please Add Your Own
i almost always fish my light spinning outfit. i love throwing plastics but i limit myself to a few that i feel i can always catch fish if theyre there. zoom super fluke jr zoom 4" lizard 4" roboworm straight tail 4" power worm 4" cut tails 4" stick baits even though i havnt fished them as much as i used to. aside from the stick baits which i fish weightless t rigged, i can rig those weighted or weightless t rig, light c rig, drop shot, split shot, and shakey head or even wacky. that gives me over 20 possible presentations...if i had only one color. i personally go for baby bass or greens, a white or pearl color and maybe a red shad color. i fish all those on a 1/0 ewg hook and i use 1/32, 1/16 and 1/8oz bullet weights. ive never fished a tournament but i usually only get to go out for a couple hours or so every outing. so what i have here is more than enough for me.

What Do You Collect Or Collected In The Past?
every time i get into collecting something , i end up loosing interest. for a while , my thing was car audio. i had head units , amplifiers , subwoofers , tons of wire etc. it seemed every other month i had a different set up. finally i kept the system that was installed in my fiances car and got rid of everything else. kind of regret selling some of the one of a kind subs i had but oh well. then i got into collecting rapala lures. then only shad rap 5's. then only purpledecent rapalas. i still have a few. i do work at a shop where we sell collectible action figures , movie props, life sized statues and similar items. its crazy to see people drop hundreds or thousands of dollars on something someone else would say 'why?' to. i guess thats what collecting is all about.

My First Gator Encounter
LOL. im going to tell my daughter that when she gets older. i would poo bricks if i hooked into a gator that large. i dont mind small lizards (my bearded dragon is about 2ft) and other creatures but i wont mess with gators or anything known to be poisonous.

Lure Suggestions For Panfish.

My First Gator Encounter
ive always heard of them being in this lake but ive never seen one in person. untill today. this is one of my newish spots ive been going to. you kinda got to dodge and duck under some low branches and walk right along the water where theres the drop off of at least 20 ft less than a foot from the waters edge. fishing there has been OK at best. there are plenty of peas and smaller LM swimming around in there but they are verrryyy lethargic. ive been having decent luck early morning with my tiny pop'r but im trying to figure em out. so as im popping along near the grass , i see this giant explosion. my first thought was 'holy crap , thats a big fish'. untill i see the head. he starts to swim away but im not sure how big he is and if i should try to get my topwater back so i try to keep him where hes at. then he starts swimming towards me! im already planning my escape and see the quickest way out of there but luckily he turned towards the grass and just hunkered down and wouldnt budge. i popped my line and got out of there. i tried to get a pic but it didnt come out too great. hes maybe 3 - 4 ft long. as i get through the brush , i see that the fire department is there taking scuba gear out of the truck. im thinking maybe theyre just cleaning or something else...nope. theyre doing training drills...in the water. i walked up to one of the guys and told him that there was a gator around the bend and asked if they knew that they were in there. he kinda gave me the 'duh.' look and kept on doing his thing. pff. i know i would NOT be in that water. the guy ended up being a fisherman also , so we talked a bit about the local lakes and how you could actually fish them before all the new housing developments starting going up. that was my first and im sure it wont be my last encounter. i know ill start to be more observant of my surroundings now!

Knots And Casting
i use an albright knot to join leader to braid and never had a problem with them going through standard guides. i havnt fished a micro guide rod yet so i can comment on that...

This Video Makes Me Want To Go Fishing
BA video indeed. I couldn't skip with a BC to save my life. I can barely do it with spinning gear lol.

Hi Viz Braid
Thanks for everyone replies. I went ahead and ebay'd some 15/4 yellow power pro. I'll post back here with my thoughts when I get out with it.
-
Hi Viz Braid
i use a leader for the same reasons. snapping braid can be a PITA no matter what lb test. what color water are you fishing? have you noticed any difference in your catch ratio using the yellow vs another color?
-
Hi Viz Braid
this is for one spool on my light power outfit that i do a lot of weghtless plastic fishing with. i dont have a problem seeing the green in larger diameters, just these sewing thread thin type. im leaning towards yellow powerpro for my clear, pressured waters.

Hi Viz Braid
Im debating on whether or not I should pick up some hi viz braid for my light spinning outfit. I currently have 20/6 sufix in green but wanted to step down to the 10/4 in a hi viz to help with line watching. I fish pretty clear water and will be using a leader. Can anyone comment on yellow vs. red/orange in clear water? I dont care if it bleeds some as long as it's not all over everything.

Miami Canal Lures
dont give up! are you out at different times of the day? that can make a huge difference on where the fish are. as mentioned , do some exploring on google maps and see if you can find some other water in the area besides the canals. i dont know if its just me or not , but i think those canal fish are more finicky than lake fish.

Miami Canal Lures
http://myfwc.com/fishing/freshwater/sites-forecast/s/metropolitan-miami-canals/ though not incredibly detailed , it gives you an idea on whats working. the canal maps are cool too. another bait i didnt see mentioned that i love throwing is the zara spook jr with a twitch , twitch pause retrieve. although ive caught em working the bait very fast and erratic. take your time with each bait and work on your presentation before tying on another. over time youll get confident in certain lures that will become your favorites. ive tried quite a few styles and types but settled on a few that i feel i can always catch fish on. keeps clutter down in your tackle box too!
