Favorite Soft Plastic for Drop Shot?
x2. super fluke jr. i usually go for baby bass , but any natural color bait will do imo.

what the fluke dragged in
thanks guys. i think so too ;D. all my local lakes have those drop offs about that far from shore. no boats allowed though >. im able to wade out a bit though , just got to watch my feet for leaches.

How much do you spend?
i buy when i start to run low on baits. i fish mostly plastics so my purchases are usually hooks , weights , line and plastics. unless i find some deals in the clearance bins , then ill murder those things. this year , ive spent less than $100...i think...so far.

what the fluke dragged in
went out for a few before the rain came and decided to go to a spot where i previously lost a decent fish. i havnt caught anything there before but always see peacocks and LMs schooling around. i brought some baits i havnt fished in a while just to see if i still had the touch. had some pea's follow a white with chart. tail super fluke in , but no takers. switched to a watermelon with chart. tail super fluke and got this beauty. cant tell you weight , but it is one of the larger fish ive pulled out of my local lakes. stopped by my usual spot on the way home but it started pouring so i called it a day.

afaik , you cannot shoot someone in the back , in any state. the threat would be over if they are running away. i could be wrong though... i plan on getting my CCW permit sometime next year. i would also like to see peoples opinion on this.

Advice needed on first baitcasting set-up
my first bait casting setup was a citica 201d and a 6' m/f compre. i would recommend them to anyone. you may want a lower gear ratio for deep divers , no? maybe a curado e5?

If you only had 10 bucks?
a shad rap , bullet weights and a drink? i would also check out those clearance bins at your local sports authority , DSG , etc. depending whats in there , you can get a lot for ten bucks.

Good Fish Scale?

Thinking of going back to school
i almost enrolled in a HVAC course but i didnt have a FL ID card and the classes filled within a few days. depending on loans and how that field is as far as job openings , i would go for it. my fiance received a BA in accounting right when that recession hit. shes now grooming dogs and paying off her loans , making more than she would of in a accounting position. funny how that worked out :. i would look into it heavily before making any commitments. those loans are serious business.

thats fantastic. i cant wait till i can take my little one fishing.

Catch Phrase
i say 'boo-yah!!!' and throw a couple fist pumps in there when theyre taking line. nah , not really. i dont usually say anything since i fish by myself 95% of the time. but i have caught myself saying 'fish!' or 'she took it!' or something along those lines before.

Is everyone on this board a senko freak?
imo , they are a great bait. i use *** trick sticks and sometimes the kinami stick baits when they are in the clearance bins. while its not my favorite way to fish , i do fish them alot. they simply catch fish. less than a year ago , i couldnt get anything to bite one. now it seems thats the only bait that works, so i use it.

how upset do you get when you lose a fish?
i like that.
-
how upset do you get when you lose a fish?
if im catching fish and loose some , ill take a few seconds and figure out why that fish came off. bad hook set? not enough pressure? slack in the line? whatever it is , ill try and avoid that again. if im loosing fish left and right , ill probably call it a day and head in lol. there will always be fish, and that big one will be bigger next time.

FC leader breaks off at hookset
ive only had one time where my leader broke during a hookset. i blamed it on a bad knot. now , if i even think about my knot not being cinched down correctly, i will retie untill im happy with it. havnt had a problem since. i use 20/6 powerpro with a 6lb pline cxx leader on spinning. 50/12 power pro with a 10lb pline cxx leader on casting. albright knot to join the two. i dont ever see myself using floro when this copoly works fantastic for me. my lakes are pretty darn clear but are full of rocks and other crap that likes to eat baits and lines. plus it is alot cheaper than the other stuff.

Snaps
oh snaps. only ones ive used are the norman speed clips. never had a problem with them.

budget spinning rod
x2. or wait for something used to come by.. Clarus without doubt, for $80 is doesn't pay to buy used, a lifetime warranty may not be honored without a purchase receipt. iirc , shimano doesnt require a sales receipt when going through them. you may want to double check on that though.

necessary salt water shore tackle.
ill mainly be using shrimp and/or squid. i plan on picking up some soft plastics along with the doa shrimp. maybe some of those gulp crabs. searching around , i seen people rig texas rig the shrimp with an ewg worm hook. has anyone done this? what about any freshwater baits like trick sticks and flukes?

necessary salt water shore tackle.
i always get the blackened dolphin sandwich with swiss or pepperjack cheese. amazing. wash it down with a voodoo juice and im good. ill check those gates out. what size leader should i go with? i would either be using 20 or 50 lb braid.
-
necessary salt water shore tackle.
thanks. i did find some straight shank and live bait hooks while organizing the tackle bag earlier. size 4 and 6 mustads i think. ill be fishing from black point since its a very short drive from my house - http://www.bing.com/maps/?q=24777%20SW%2087th%20Ave,%20Homestead,%20FL&FORM=Z9FD . doesnt help that the drinks and food at the bar are amazing. also the few canal locks that are in the area.

My new setup
i always thought braid backlashed much worse than mono untill i tried it. it is a LOT easier to pick than mono. i would suggest someone new to BCs to start with 10-12lb mono until they get the mechanics of casting down then move onto braid. i use 50/12 power pro with 10lb cxx leader.

im planning on throwing together a small saltwater tackle box for when i decide to hit the jetty. ill be fishing with frozen bait and occasionally live. ive always used long straight shank hooks when i was a kid but im sure there are better choices. what do you guys suggest? im trying to keep it down to a minimum since i wont be going out as much as i thought i would. ill be using both spinning and baitcasting gear if that makes a difference. what is the best technique for the frozen bait? i always used to rig up the frozen bait underneath a bobber and let it sit.... its been a while lol. another thing i just thought of - deep hooked toothy fish. how do you guys get those out?
