second peacock of the year..
went out this morning for a lil bit to try and figure out this braid. threw around some 4" stick baits and landed a few small LMs. went around to my other spot and seen some pea's cruising the shallows (9:15 to when i left at 10:15am). there were two of them that were surrounded by baby pea's. so tossed my stick bait in front of their face. one of them just kept on swimming right over it , the other picked it up and knew she was hooked before i did. i seen her go take off to the surface to try and shake it off, but thats when i realized she had it and set the hook. a minute later , i got her. yup. another excellent fight on light spinning tackle. 8-) i love these fish.

Yep, I still hate braid...
what size reel was the one with issues? I wanted to try a wide spool reel so I bought a Johnny Morris signature 50 (same as 40 but larger spool) put it on a tsunami inshore airwave rod 8' and gave it a good test over about a week, hated it, knot after knot. Returned it to BPS and exchanged for a Daiwa tierra 30, not a single knot with same line on this reel(20#PP), have had it about a month now. When I first started using braid I had many problems, then I learned how to cast braid and never a problem anymore, I'd never use mono again. could you give me some pointers? i realized i still had half a spool of the 15/4 so i put that on my 801. man , what a PITA. im thinking the coils dig into each other and all come off the spool at once creating this giant mess. i tried soft casts , hard snap casts and it didnt make a difference. i LOVE the sensitivity it has , but if i have to pick out knots every 10th cast... eh.

Yep, I still hate braid...
i tried 15/4 PP on my light spinning rig and hated life. wind knots let and right. im thinking it may have been too limp. still debating wether or not i should pick up another spool...

Woooo!!! first peacock of the year! PB too!!!
same fish , different picture. had trouble uploading this one. after looking through some older pics , i think one of my previous pea's may have been bigger, but it was caught on live bait.

The Rod/Reel setup you are happiest with
i dont have nicer gear like alot of you guys do , but the setup i use the most is an Abu Garcia Cardinal 801 with 6lb suffix seige on a 6'6" L/F Shimano Clarus. my personal bests were caught on it.

Lox Refuge ?s
call me stupid but what/where is lox? :-[ there was a small tourny in NC while i was up there for a local fishing forum. then entry fee was a hard bait between $5-15. turn out was so-so , but the winner went home with something like 15 new baits. two man teams. each catch was to be measured or weighed and photographed then released.

Some thoughts on hook removal
i give that a biiiig x2. ive never really had to use this method , but when i did , i had a hell of a time doing it. i remember catching small red snapper that were swallowing the hook left and right. after the first two didnt make it , i packed up and went home. ive tried going through the gill with bass too , but that is a mission at the least. over time im sure i will get the hang of it , but that fact is , it is hard to practice if you arnt gut hooking fish. give me some needlenose and 15 seconds , ill get the hook out. ;D after having to use the through the gill method a few times since then , i now have no problem removing those deep hooks.

How to solve the drug problem
i guess it can happen. probably has and will happen again too , but not to the same degree as other harder drug related crimes. who knows what will happen if or when they do something about it. time will tell.

How to solve the drug problem
if thats the case , why not decriminalize it? alot of the pot smokers being arrested are going through treatment programs to get the charges dropped where someone like a cocaine addict with benefit more. there is no physical addiction with smoking pot. ive never seen or heard of a stoner robbing their dealers house to get a 'fix'. or shoot up the place for some odd reason. :-?

What the....How do you...
This is exactly what I thought and why I decided to use LH baitcasters. This is only my second season of bass fishing and LH feels natural. Honestly, I have a harder time fighting a fish with the rod in my weak (left) hand. So for me it's more about which hand the rod is in rather than which hand I'm reeling with. One thing to think about though, I'm afraid I may damage my reels in the long run because sometimes I catch myself starting to reel before the spool has stopped. I've been working on consciously stopping it with my thumb first, but you know how it goes. Whets 8-) exactly!
