  1. seen a couple at the lake around my house and seen school of em at wolf lake in davie. still havnt caught one this year though. :
  2. this reminds me , i have a baggie full of torn and beat up plastics ive been meaning to fix. ive been thinking about picking up some of that super glue gel but was concerned about it being rock hard when it dries and cures. good stuff 8-).
  3. i missed it. is there anywhere i can find it online?
  4. i use it. 10# and 12# in green. never had any problem. while it isnt the smoothest or limpest , it casts just fine on a baitcaster and is cheap enough to respool or cut line on a regular.
  5. i tried 15/4 power pro on my light/fast spinning rig and hated it. i spent more time picking wind knots out than i did fishing so i eventually trashed it. the reel i was using was an abu 801 (750 size spool?) with a 6'6 L/F rod. i tried using both uni to uni and albright. didnt have a problem with the knots but preferred the uni to uni. i have no idea what i was doing wrong to get knots like how i did , but that left a terrible taste in my mouth for braid. when i was able to fish with it , i thought it was fantastic. i had no problem setting hooks with the light rod and my casts were much further. i MAY try fireline when i have $15 burning a hole in my wallet. glad you like it. 8-)
  6. x2. also , not only check out DSG bins , but run up and down the isles and look at the tags. usually red ones or prices that end in an uncommon number (.88 , .90 , .13 etc) are on clearance. there is also a save $10 off $25 purchase at dicks coupon floating around the net. im sure a quick yahoo search will find it. just dont tell any of these guys about it , we all know how they get when someone prints coupons off the internet :.
  7. what size hook is everyone using to rig these?
  8. went out earlier this afternoon to a lake in my area (south miami). there was a very light breeze and man was it hot. the temp that is , not the fishing. i had one on a crank that came unbuttoned close to shore. there were a few LMs swimming around and a decent sized lone peacock hangin around next to a storm drain pipe. none of them didnt want what i had so i left skunked. not sure if the pea's are like this everywhere , but i havnt cought one this year. last year , i was hoping to catch a LM everytime i went out because it seemed the peas took over whatever water i was fishing. now it seems like their gone. how is everyone else doing with them?
  9. good point. though the first pics didnt turn out that great/detailed because of the sun , im starting to see differences too. just means theres more big fish in that lake ;D btw , which scale do you own?
  10. i learned on a citica d. i thought the 6 pin brake was as simple as it gets. start at 3 on and go from there. spool tension is the only adjustment i make. imo , its a great reel at its price point and the d series are getting cheaper and cheaper. i would suggest , as you may already know , to cast around the yard a bit before hitting the water.
  11. went back out to tree tops today. fished in a light sprinkle off the dock and managed a few 1 pounders off a bomber 4a? and a trick stick. walked around to the other side and hooked into that monster LM. she took a fluke jr t-rigged weightless i was twitching on a 6'6" light/fast spinning rig. man , was that a fight! there were a ton of kids there with their parents , so they ran over to check it out. they all looked super excited to see a big fish come out of the water ;D.
  12. i havnt cought any peacocks this year. :-? good to know someone is though lol. ill up up that way again tomorrow. not sure where ill be fishing , probably somewhere close to where ill be staying. gotta make a run to the BPS too.
  13. i throw 5" trick sticks on a baitcaster all day. 6'6 mh rod and 12lb big game.
  14. so i think i cought the same fish today, lol. got some pics but havnt uploaded them yet. looks very similar in size , weight and pattern , so im assuming its the same bass. this time i got her on a 5" trick stick in his 'bull frog' color. i kept it in a bag with other colored plastics so it had more of a swirl pattern. either way , she fought hard today digging on the bottom , trying to shake my bait out. after that, i went to the dock and lost a couple decent sized ones that were hanging out in the brush along the shoreline. couldnt of been more than 3 FOW there. i definitely pulled an ike when i lost those. thankfully no one was around to hear the wrath ;D i really need to give those straight shanks a shot. BPS , here i come!
  15. all i really use are gammy ewgs and while a few fish have come unbuttoned , i wouldnt say its a problem. ive been meaning to give the straight shanks a try , but whenever i go hook shopping , i always grab the ewg gammys. mainly because i fish around ALOT of rocks and in the back of my mind , i think i will loose my bait to a snag every cast. could you post a pic of how you rig the plastic with a straight shank?
  16. x2. for line , i would go with trilene big game. its cheap , good on a bait caster and its everywhere.
  17. signed up for a car audio forum with this user name 4 years ago. so i just use it for every forum im on so i dont forget. in car audio , or practically anything audio , building a sound quality project is not easy - SQ Hertz.
  18. thanks bro. i would say shes around 24". i really need a scale , measuring tape or both lol.
  19. does this apply for the 'd' models? going over the schematics , there is no mention of a bushing on the drive shaft (P# 3571).
  20. yeah we are. it just wasnt happening up there for the fiance and i.
  21. i plan on taking my reel apart for a relube/grease whenever i grow the stones to do it myself. do you have a link to the upgrade process? btw , i have the 'D' model , is it any different?
  22. thanks man. they didnt want anything to do with what we had lol. didnt we get some high pressure system in? maybe thats what threw them off. ill be checking out TY park next time im up there. it does look pretty nice. may have to find someone to rent a boat with me if my fiance doesnt want to go out ;D. the other guy we were chatting with said they threw some xmas trees out there a while back... i wanna find em.
