  1. every size in between?
  2. planning a trip up to bps to grab some things soon and was thinking about what size weights i should pick up. i like to carry as little as possible since im walking banks. so ive been using 1/16 , 1/8 , 1/4 , and 3/8oz weights but i was wondering what everyone else carries while fishing from shore..
  3. can anyone comment on the berkley shakey worm? they have them in a 5" and 7" size iirc. ive seen them on the shelves and they are supposed to float , but i havnt seen any first hand experiences...
  4. MD 20/20 Ole English Natural Ice ;D i mostly drink bud light since its cheap and everywhere but i like yuenling? , blue moon , heiniken and sometimes corona. sweetwater 420 is also good.
  5. lol, probably not what you had in mind , but i use either a 3 compartment dickies backpack ($7) or a 10" craftsman tool bag ($10 for the 10" and 12" combo) with plano boxes. i keep plastics in separate plastic bags rather than more plano boxes.
  6. great reels imo. foo-tackle has them cheapest from what ive found. the 801 i have is a beast.
  7. the knot itself looks nice and tight. im thinking i didnt clip the tags close enough. ill try the double uni next time...
  8. had a president 6725 and i loved the reel , but i would take the 20 size over the 25 just for the rubber grips. i now have an abu garcia 801 on a 6'6" L/F rod that is a beast but it is a bit heavier in weight to be on a UL rod imo. the 300u would be a good option as well. maybe a shimano sedona?
  9. i tried the albright on some 6lb cxx leader to 15/4 braid. maybe i didnt tighten it enough or clip the tag ends short enough , but the knot made it through my guides decent at best.
  10. lone. trying to get my fiance interested but its not going too well ;D. some times i would like someone to be fishing with me , but most of the time i enjoy the alone time.
  11. first time i took my fiance out , she cought a blue crab and was terrified. second time she cought something , it was a 4+ lb turtle. terrified again. i keep trying to get her to fish with the artificials , but it looks like i need to get her out with some live bait. i always try lol.
  12. havnt been out too much lately but i havnt seen any floaters down my way.
  13. ad aware avira malware bytes and microsoft security essentials. i got rid of norton and im not looking back. that thing ran terrible on any PC ive had it on. they all would pick up things that norton missed and theyre free.
  14. for the price , you may want to check out pfluegers trions and abu garcias lower end cardinals.
  15. http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1121527643 enjoy.
  16. sure thing. im not up there too often , but the next time that ill be heading that way , ill shoot you a PM. the cousins husband does some fishing as well and im sure he would love to come along too.
  17. i carry two of my three rods when im fishing the banks. if im out for a while though , ill take them all. 6'6" L/F spinning rig for lighter cranks and drop shot. 6' M/F casting rig for cranks , t-rigs , shaky heads , jigs and spinner baits. 6'6" MH/F casting rig for heavier t-rigs , jigs and spinnerbaits. im usually out with my dickies backpack. i may throw some food or drink or extra clothes depending on weather. instead of carrying a pack of 20 plastics when i may use 3 that day , i will take 3-5 of each and put them in separate ziplock bags. i do the same with hooks and weights - instead of the 25 count pack , ill put 5 or so in the double sided plano. but im starting to think im carrying too much since most of the time im by myself. so im starting to only bring what i will throw that day instead of what i might throw. everything fits in my pockets. the only thing is that the box rattles if im walking with it in my pocket which isnt a big deal to me.
  18. went out today and landed a dinker pea (DT hula grub 8-) ) that i had to do the hook removal technique through the gill. though it took me longer than i thought it would and the fish lost some blood , it was able to swim away. after that i lost another small pea. went to the other spot and had hooked what seemed to be a 4lb largemouth on a 3.5" bass majic swimbait. all was great untill it threw the hook. so i stayed out a little longer , cought a tan , and called it a day.
  19. cxx is about the worst line for a spinning reel , imo. havnt tried the cx , but members here say its much more manageable than the cxx. i havnt tried the yo-zuri but its on my list of lines to check out. if you wanted to go with mono , i would recommend suffix seige. trilene XL is a good line as well , but i prefer the suffix.
  20. i picked up the 6'6" MH 2 piece casting rod. i was planning on using it for more of a 'beater' rod , but i actually like it more than i thought i would. i remember seeing the HMG's for cheap , but money > bait monkey.
  21. its windy down here as well. the spots i was at have plenty of brush to cut back some of it though. when i was up in miramar a couple weekends ago , i landed a few largemouth (spinnerbait and flukes) , but no peas. with the weather being steady and warming up , i would imagine the action should pick up some.
  22. decided to go out for a few hours since the weather is super nice today. finally got to try out some new tackle as well. i managed three peacocks on a 4" DT hula grub (great baits!!) the largest being around 2.5 lbs and one small pea on a taquila sunrise zoom u-tail. around 1:30ish, the action died off. i switched to a small spinner bait , shaky head with a giggy stick , and even tried a tiny torpedo with no luck. i then went to another lake in the area , and they didnt want anything to do with what i had. mental notes from today - p-line cxx is great on a casting reel. spinning is a big no-no with this line imo. the fenwick eagle gt rods that cabelas had on clearance for $29.99 are a steal. and the DT hula grub is an awesome bait hopped/dragged on the bottom. i was using a 3/16oz unpegged weight with a 1/0 ewg hook for the 4".
  23. i use a light power rod for bass fishing. i throw some weightless worms , light shaky heads and cranks with it. fun stuff. before that , i used a two piece UL rod for bass. super fluke jr's and size 3-7 rapalas were thrown. now its a panfish/crappie rod.
  24. great rods. $40 for that would be about right. they go for $59.xx to $69.xx online depending on where you shop and what length.
  25. anyone use braid with cranks? leader?
