Mono Line Problems
all i use is mono for both casting and spinning. on my baitcaster , i have 10lb big game in green and have no backlash issues. while i do get them casting into the wind , i wouldnt call it an issue.

back in miami
came down for vacation and of course i had to bring my fishing tackle. went out yesterday at the cousins lake and pulled in some peacocks from shore. first was on a shad rap 5 in perch color and the next was on a 1/16oz football jig with a 4" trick stick in baby bass i was hopping along the bottom. both were in the 3lb range and fought like crazy on the 6'6 light rod. i also managed a largemouth on the same shad rap and a catfish on a bucktail jig with a baby craw trailer which was my first catfish , and my first fish on that jig. it was a great day. :D

Modern Warfare 2
i played a little bit of it at a friends house on a tiny 20" tv. im not sure if it was just this guy , but he was just running through the levels and made me think its more 'run and gun' than anything. :-/ please tell me its not like that...

Some thoughts on hook removal
i give that a biiiig x2. ive never really had to use this method , but when i did , i had a hell of a time doing it. i remember catching small red snapper that were swallowing the hook left and right. after the first two didnt make it , i packed up and went home. ive tried going through the gill with bass too , but that is a mission at the least. over time im sure i will get the hang of it , but that fact is , it is hard to practice if you arnt gut hooking fish.

what do you do with used hooks
thats the first thing i do also. i dont want people thinking i fish with some dull hooks ;D.
-
what do you do with used hooks
the only hooks ive had rust were tru-turns. ive even had those in the same plano box (not same compartment) with gammys and mustads and none of those rusted. i do quickly dry them before they go back in though. ive tried doing this before and went back to putting them in their own spot. just curious what everyone else does.

what do you do with used hooks
when you switch hooks , for whatever reason , do you put them with your unused hooks? or do you have a spot in your box just for them? what about plastics? personally , i did have a spot for used hooks in my plano box so i dont keep grabbing new ones , but since i reorganized and threw my weighted hooks in there , theyre now getting put with the new ones. i usually only have 4-6 hooks of each size with me at a time. for plastics , i throw them in a separate bag so i go through those first.

Bearing cleaner
thats what our shimano rep suggested on another forum. well , theyre in there now. iirc , doesnt brake and carb cleaner leave residue behind too? either way , if they gum up in this , ill swing by the store and pick up some simple green.

Bearing cleaner
well , the taking apart the reel in a large bag was one of the best tips ive ever got on this forum. i heard it shoot off and hit the bag but i even had a hard time trying to find it in there. i couldnt imagine finding it if it flew off in the room ;D. i ended up crafting a 'bearing puller' out of a paper clip. i un-bent it into a straight line then folded in half. took some needle nose and folded both the ends 90* to make a small lip. works fantastic. have them sitting in a shot glass with rubbing alcohol. we'll see how it goes. just stumbled across this - http://www.rpmrcproducts.com/products/tools/fixtools.htm seen it mentioned over on TT. looks like it might make cleaning much easier. its made for RC car bearings which i would imagine get much more dirtier than fishing reel bearings. if i ever see it in a hobby store , ill pick one up.
-
Bearing cleaner
after some serious net searching , i found a thread on TT where Bantam1 said - ill give it a shot to avoid a trip to the store. the bearings are not super dirty or anything , i would just like to see how they perform with fresh oil.

Just Wanted to Share My Thoughts about Bass Resource
i lol'd at the dunder mifflin post. i love that show. anyways , i would have to agree this is one of the best forums i frequent. more of a mature crowd compared to the car audio forums i visit ;D. even though there is a difference in ages , it doesnt seem to have much effect on anything which is great. the mods also do a great job on keeping everything in check when its needed. good work.
