    nice fish. 8-)
  6. i spooled up my abu cardinal 801 with 15/4 power pro and hated it. wind knots left and right. i wont even fish that setup anymore untill i get out and get some other line. the few successful casts i made felt great though. i would like to try it on my baitcasters but im still doubting that its easier to pick out a backlash with braid than mono...

went out for a few hours this morning. after fishing one lake with no action , i went to another and landed this beast. she hit a 8" taper tail right after i popped it up off the weeds. im guessing shes around 3lb. either way shes the largest LM ive pulled out of this lake and put up a hell of a fight! and of course , the infamous rock fish... CXX forthewin?
  8. now that i think of it , ive never fished with any painted weight. ever. :-?
  9. im going to be up in plantation for a few random days throughout next month. how is the bank fishing up there? ill be right off university and broward blvd.
  10. i use 1/0 ewg gammys and tex-pose? fluke jr's and 4"zoom lizards and have no problem setting the hook. havnt fished it much since ive been back in miami, but while i was in NC , i fished the DS on a 6'6" light/fast rod with 6lb mono and brought in some decent fish.
  11. a citica 201d was my first BC and i dont regret it. i actually liked it so much i bought another. i would recommend it to anyone for a first BC in its price range.
  12. i use them and never had a problem. not on topwaters or spinners for me though. for them weakening your line , shouldnt you be checking your line every so often with any type of fishing? ive had line sneak under one side of a split ring... i use the regular size (not magnums) and i dont really see how they could come loose if they were put on right in the first place...unless that specific clip has been used and reused numerous times and weakened. they can be a PITA to get on or off sometimes but i feel they do enhance the lures action as opposed to direct tie.
  13. i let it sit on semi-slack line. all the bites ive had on a DS rig are a solid 'thump'. youll definitely know there is something on the end of your line. as far as nose rigging , this is what always gets me snagged in my area, so i t-rig them.
  14. fluke jr's and 4" lizards. i got some drop shot baits in my last i still havnt tried them out. every time i cast a drop shot from shore , i loose it to a snag. >
  15. thats a worm. Don't know how to make it smaller. At least you won't forget what it looks like. hah.
  16. got out for a few hours today ,from 9am to noon. wasnt too bad. i managed a few dinkers on 5" trick sticks and 8" taper tails (these things have serious action!!). stood around in some shallow water and managed to land another one. i felt something biting my feet and thought it was some of those angry baby bass .... nope! leaches. both my feet were covered with 20 bugs each. so i ran out the water , probably scared every fish in the lake and picked em off. it was my first time seeing one in person and on me so i was a bit startled. after that fun experience , i went over to another local lake where i lost a decent sized bass. stood around in the water making casts, i look down , and my friends are back eating my feet and legs. plucked those guys off, threw a trick stick in watermelon , and landed a 2lb largemouth. made a few casts after , then called it a day. fun times. the dinks were crazy hungry today. i had one almost swallow the hook and 5" trick stick... i was able to get it out using the gut hook method and he swam away just fine. crushing the barb down helps with this.
  17. you never installed them? would taking them out equal less braking than if they were installed and in the 'off' position?
  18. it is an excellent reel imo. what line would you recommend? i would hate to go back to mono since its on a light/fast rod , i need as little stretch as possible.

    Tapertails are great t-rigged or on a shakey head. b thanks , b. 8-)
  22. got the larger knot out , but there are still a couple that are too small. looks like someone did a single over hand a couple random times. would soaking the line make things better? and do these knots weaken the line?
  23. no line wrapped around anything. it may have just been loose on the spool. but i always close the bail by hand. im still new to tying knots that join leaders to main line , so some of them are larger than others. can those large knots going through the guides be the problem too?
