  1. if it weren't for the dinks I wouldn't get no lovin at all!!
  2. haven't used them ........................yet. I love tyhe paca craws and chunks though so I assume they are a quality worm.
  3. five.bass.limit - I fish SML and have noticed the same thing, also the stripers are starting to come up early and late in the the Gills Greek and Blackwater areas. Fishing Kerr on Saturday (without getting to practice/look around) and I am hoping things may be similar.
  4. I installed the troll eze last weekend and will be trying it out this weekend. From what I can tell I think I am going to like it. Like everyone says, cutting a hole in the deck was my biggest concern. Be prepared that depending on the make of your boat you may very well be cutting into your front storage compartment and your rod boxes. Thank goodness I had read that before and didn't totally freak out when it happened.
  5. They are going to throw what they can catch the fish on regardless of sponsorship. I was a marshall on one fo the elite tourneys this year and observed first hand 2 pros that plugged their sponsors when they caught most fish on other brand baits. To their credit they did throw sponsor products as well. Bottom line the sponsors help pay the bills so I understand them continuing to plug away for them. Exception would be Denny Brauer, who (with the exception of a few casts with a swimbait) exclusively used sponsors products, ardent, american rodsmith and strike king.
  6. I didn't have good luck with Vanish either, it coiled off the (spinning)reel something fierce but will say that was before I discovered the KVD line conditioner. I used the Seagur Invisix and it performed great for me. I am also using the Berkley 100% flouro and it works great for me and a local tackle shop has it and will spool it for about half the cost of me purchasing small spools.
  7. LazyBASS - a typical dropshot weight will swivel around helping to eliminate the line from twisting around when working it back to the boat. You can use a split shot, a bullet weight or any other kind of weight but the fishing line will twist up some without a swivel or swiveling weight.
  8. nice fish. I catch a lot of fish on the drop shot but I really feel good about catching a good one on light tackle.
  9. If I understand correctly dealers are bound to abide by (MAP) Minimum Advertised Prices therefore on certain items they are not allowed to advertise prices less than retail however if you call and ask what is on sale you may very well find out that the sale is a lot less lame than you may think.
  10. for me I was taught twitch twitch pause and then as I gained confidence I modified, sped up, slowed down made them bloop or spit till i found what the fish were after. The pop-r or variations thereof can be very effective just spend a little time doing it and you will learn to love them. I would advise waiting a second or until you feel the fish before setting the hook. you will have to be patient and not set as soon as one blows up on it. I have had them miss it a dozen times before actually getting the bait.
  11. Hey Hook-set we need to spool up some of those old reels that belonged to my grand daddy.
  12. have to agree with the post about bass eating about anything .......... just yesterday saw a bass attacking the weight on my drop shot but paid no mind to the robo worm just a short distance above the weight.
  13. I get mine from Tackle Warehouse as well but order the bulk tungsten.
  14. my cavitron buzz baits are loud and squeaky too, but that is the way I like em!!
  15. I've got 4 of the 200D's and they have performed flawlessly for 3 years now. When the D series came out the retail price (if memory serves me correctly) was $199 and when the e series came out the retail dropped down to $179. The E series being smaller fits my hand better but both are great reels.
  16. Five-Alive replied to JJS's topic in Tournament Talk
I googled him and there is really nothing out there after June 2009.
  17. I think Wayne nailed it right there.
  18. X2 on what Catt said but if those tap taps are like a machine gun then it is typically a blue gill but that being said if I get those machine gun tap and my line is moving off I am dropping the rod and taking my chances with a hook set.
  19. Congratulations Jason!!
  20. Yes, several times. Actually a buddy and I were fishing a pond last year and he had a bass to break him off while he was throwing a floating worm, later in the evening he landed a bass and said check this out and he held the bass up revealing the floating worm still in the fish's mouth. That bass hit a t-rigged worm and still had the hook and worm in it's mouth from an hour earlier.
  21. I am wondering the same thing. I turned around and googled the bradia and found news ones on eBay for $285 and TW is asking $149.
  22. KVD Line conditioner, especially on fluorocarbon!!
  23. Here is the story behind the color of the boat: http://sports.espn.go.com/outdoors/fishing/columns/story?columnist=short_kevin&id=3321858 Burley - I see where you are a member of the Wise County Bassmasters, my son will be graduating from UVA Wise next Saturday. He has mostly pond fished at school but has met a lot of nice bass fishermen from the area and has even helped start a Bass Club on campus with the help of the campus police chief who is an avid bass fisherman.
  24. I also use JJ's Magic and Megastrike and have a tube of the KVD fishsticks on the way. On the other hand, I marshaled on the BASS elite at Smith Mountain Lake and noticed that none of the three pros I rode with used any scents. That is not saying that that had not pre applied scents but I did not see them applying any during the day. With JJ's I can smell it every time I get a bait out. Actually my wife has forbidden me to bring JJ's soaked baits into our house!! Bottom line, I feel that it helps and it gives me more confidence so I use scents.
  25. ditto on K-Mac's reply - I have not used Reel Magic but the KVD conditioner works great for me.
