  1. Rhino...that is a great idea!!! I never thought of using an anchor..I'm going to give it a try.
  2. I have a screw hole on my console where my windshield screws into it that got a little worn and is now to big to hold the screw tight. I was thinking I could plug the hole with the 3m and then put the screw back in. Would I be able to get the screw back through that 3M stuff??
  3. i'm not too vocal. In tournaments I just ask for the net, or if it's a dink, I'll tell my partner not to bother with the net. I do give a good Tiger Woods fist pump when I land a nice fish....and maybe a high five.
  4. That is the greatest line-up in bass club history!!!!! You couldn't help but learn a thing or two with that club. What an honor that must have been...Larry Nixson is my angling hero!! You fished in the Elites before there were the Elites.
  5. I was 16, in my first tourney as a non-boater in a Red-Man tournament on Cayuga Lake in NY. I think I was too young to really be nervous or to know exactly what I got myself into. I ended up catching a bunch of fish, but my limit didn't add up to much. I did beat my boater, who is one of the nicest guys I've met in tournament fishing, and had a great time. Not sure if I would've continued fishing tournies had that experience not been as great as it was. I even remember that I was using a texas-rigged 4" red shad ringworm, 8lb line, 1/8oz weight on a Berkley Lightning Rod. We were fishing a hump that topped out at about 12 feet and bottomed out around 25ft.

I use their crankbaits and I love the fact that they are continually innovative. But $20 for a buzzbait is kind of ridiculous.
  7. I was just setting the record straight on my statement...not getting huffy. I also am a bait maker, and stated exactly what they said about the packaging and weight issue with salt.
  8. First...I didn't say it had "no" value...This was the opinion of the pro that he fished with. I also added that the major benefits of salt was to add weight to the bait.
  9. What was your first baitcast reel?? Mine was a Ryobi V-Mag 3 and I was about 10 years old. It was tiny and probably held 100 yards of 10 pound line. With this reel I was able to get comfortable casting a baitcaster. It was also gained invaluable experience and confidence in throwing spinnerbaits and texas-rigged worms on the appropriate tackle. The rest, as they say, is history!!
  10. I did the same thing a couple years ago. I keep it to about 4 colors and I only use one brand of plastics that has all the styles I need. I don't have every companies beaver, worm, tube or creature creation, I just use one brand that I like and that covers everything.
  11. I agree!!! I have a chunk out of mine...looks like someone took a bite out of it. Consider it a battle wound!!
  12. I use a little worm oil and salt when I bag them up so the baits don't stick together. For me is for asthetics, the baits look better packaged that way. A friend of mine was told by a pro, and a very accomplished pro, (my friend fishing as a co-anlger) that bait companies put salt into their plastics so they get torn up faster. He didn't believe in any of theories that salt in plastics gives any advantage. I thought that was an interesting take and I tend to agree somewhat with that! I agree in that I don't think fish will or won't eat a bait because of the salt content. I feel the main purpose for salt, in my opinion, is to add weight to the bait, i.e Senkos and the like.
  13. I'm seeing some nice jigs with the head painted flat black. Does anyone know where to find the flat paint??
  14. Sorry 200racing---he looked a lot smaller in that other picture!!! Cool dog though!!
  15. We've been doing really good using the Storm Wild Eye Shiner. Either 3 or 4 inch size. We seem to have better luck using three (in Tennessee) of the same lures on one rig, instead of using different lures.
  16. Good Idea!! I see your cat in the background. My cat always "helps" me with my projects too!!!!
  17. Wow....those bass do hit something besides an Alabama Rig!!! That bag is ridiculous.....Good job guys!!!
  18. Unfortunately, I would call it my home lake!! Thanks for the advice so far. I think putting my efforts into the next one will help me get over it. I'm not sure why this one hurt so bad....I think maybe I had too high of expectations. I also thought that I had the correct game plan and thought it would only get better as the day wore on....it didn't! Because of the confidence in my plan, I was reluctant to adjust and by then it was too late.
  19. I recently had a club tourney and I didn't get a bite. That's the first time, in a long time, that I blanked in a tourney. Even fun fishing, I haven't blanked in a VERY long time. I am having trouble getting over this one!!! I've done bad before, but never have I gone a day without even a bite. Not a slick, not a crappie, not a bluegill and not even a white bass bite----NOTHING!!!! I zigged when I should have zagged, I yinged when I should have yanged...and so on!!! I've already begun my map study and pre-fishing plans for my next tourney, but I'm still thinking about this last one. Help a brother out....how do I get passed this one...it hurt!!!

  21. No offense to the folks here, but maybe you should be asking your Guidance counselor on what direction you should take. He/she is a qualified to direct your education, we are merely bass fishers! You shouldn't adjust your curriculum to become a pro bass fisherman. You should direct your education to be in marketing. Then you can use those skills to help you with your pro bass career.
  22. I'd say find a really old reel, or one you don't careabout, and give it a try with spray paint. After all, spray paint is basically an airbrush in a can! Just go over it with poly or clear coat and you should be OK. You're just painting on plastic, so the paint should stick. Just my 2 pennies!
  23. I read a lot of the posts on the Bass Boat forum and have noticed that not many people run a Skeeter. Any opinions on them??
  24. My hardest thing to learn was also patience. I would go through an area and burn a crank or spinnerbait and get a couple, then pack up and head to a new spot. Then when I get to weigh in I find out another guy was in the same spot and soaked it with a jig or something slow and picked off quality fish all day. I had to have that hammer hit my head a couple times before that sunk in!!!
  25. I hope I didn't offend you on my comments, I had a friend try to do this same thing and he ended up spending so much money that he could have bought something he didn't have to fix up. I respect that you can take this on and do it successfully. I think it also shows what we crazy bass guys will do to get out on the water!!! Again, I can't wait to see the finished product!!
