  1. I wish I had a rocket launcher to block out the jet skis!!!
  2. I'm for the ban. I think the one rod, one lure is the way professionals should fish. I think the fisherman should have to hit the right angle and bump a piece of cover with every cast, not get 5 fish on one cast. As far as saying it's too easy to catch fish on...that's a ridiculous statement and ridiculous reason for a ban. Is throwing a rattle trap brain surgery?? Tossing a fluke into a school of busting fish isn't rocket science!!
  3. I don't think the plastic would stick to the weight. After it hits some cover the plastic is going to come right off. I use a long spoon to stir my plastic as I'm pouring, once it cools, you can pull it clean off.
  4. Seeing a lot of posts regarding soft plastic making I had an idea. Do you think people would buy ingots (similar to lead ingots) of colored soft plastic? It could be made in basic colors like black, smoke, pumpkin etc, and it would eliminate some trial and error in color mixing for the beginner. That way, all that would need to be done is to cut it into pieces and add glitter and salt(if desired), melt it and pour it. Opinions.
  5. To get into the Weekend Series...Go to American Bass Anglers (ABA) website and click on the Weekend Series link. You'll have to join ABA which I think is $25 and then all you do is sign up, send in your entry fee and fish!! As far as my pick for The Classic....Mr. Greg Hackney.
  6. I think this thread should be closed before the law makers see it!!!!!
  7. I own a Stratos, but I've ridden in a lot of Rangers and they are the most comfortable boats I've ever been in. If I had the funds to get a Ranger I would definately get one. I am not a big fan of the 'speed boat' genre of bass boats. I've been in a lot of Bullets too, if there is any sort of chop, they beat you up. Plus, the storage of the Bullets have a lot to be desired. The Sterling may not have the same issues as the Bullet, but that group of manufacturers are going for speed not fishability. I agree with the other post....I don't like the looks of them either (by them, I mean Bullets, Allison, Blazers etc.)
  8. Sebile makes a great silent lipless plug. I like them in the clearer water because you still have that action of the lipless, but without the noise. I feel the rattle turns them off in the clear water. May not be so...but I believe it, and that's what I have confidence in.
  9. Chompers or Zoom centipede or french fry.
  10. 2011 Accomplishments: Caught my PB 7.6lbs in a tournament, on a lure I made, and won a bunch of money off him/her! Caught my PB spot--- 3.5lbs. Finished 3 in points in my club. Not bad considering I've only been fishing these waters for 2 years. Qualified, through my club, to fish in the FLW TBF tourney. Gained enormous confidence in the drop shot. Fished harder than ever. Kept my head down and fished hard in each tournament until the last second. 2012 Goals: Consistency. Win the FLW TBF tourney. Remain safe and healthy.
  11. That is exactly why I was wondering how they can throw the 5 lure A-rig on the TN side of the lake. The umbrella rig rule in TN is that you can only use up to three lures (hooks).
  12. Im watching the coverage of the Kentucky Lake Everstart...How can they legally be fishing the A-Rig on the Tennessee side of the lake?? Are there different regs for that lake?
  13. Looking for opinions on which one to get. I've seen reviews that say the adhesive on the KeelGuard isn't as good as it is on the KeelShield and it started to come off after some use. Also, are they really as easy to install as they say??

I see the Versus channel is going to become a 24 hour NBC sports channel. Anyone hear what's going to happen to their outdoor programs??

On another sight there is a video where John Crews is showing the rig underwater. It looks frickin' sweet!!!!!!!!!!! I was a skeptic of this rig, but after seeing that, I can see why it's effective. I wanted to post a link, but wasn't sure I could put a link from a different website other than youtube on here.
  16. I use size 2 split rings and snaps. As far as shaping them, it might work, but you may have to play around with it to get to run properly.
  17. I would absolutely go pro. I am consumed with fishing and everything that goes with it. Tournaments really get my fire going and love the mornings when you're motor is running, just waiting to blast off. I love the fact that you never really know how the day will unfold. The rush you get when you get that first keeper in the boat. The sponsor duties and the travel doesn't bother me, because that's what I would have to do to do my job. Also, I really want to get into lure designing and the lure business, and being a pro is a much easier way to get into the industry than being Joe Public trying to get into the business.
  18. Leaky outboards shoudn't be on the water either!! I just try to minimize pollution when I can and I just don't feel right about putting something like that in the water. I'm the type that will go out of my way to pick up a bottle or can if I see it floating on the surface. I don't throw line in the lake and if I catch a line I try my best to bring it in and get rid of it in the trash can. I not a "green" psycho, but I think every little bit helps. And my main point is, there are so many safer options why bother with the WD-40.
  19. I was thinking the same thing. Why would you want to put WD-40 in the lake--there are so many scent options out there, why would you use WD-40??
  20. My original intention was to express that the "industry markets a lot of snake oil" and also, even with the great inventions and innovations, we are quick to jump on the band wagon...I was just using the recent Alabama rig as an example. Take the Classic, everyone bought KVD square bills to the point you couldn't find them in a lot of places. Eventhough the technique and the tools to do it were already out there. I think KVD does so well, not because of the bait, but because he knows how to fish a lure and knows where and when he needs to use it. If he was sponsored by Lurecraft, he could have won the Classic on one of their square bills or shallow divers.
  21. I think it's funny how quick we are to buy a new technique and lure---i.e. alabama rig. Now everyone will be buying alabama rig rods and 80 pound braid. I think fisherman would buy a pile of dog doo if KVD said he won a tournament on a texas rig dog terd!!! I think this A-rig may be such a situational technique that I'm going to wait and see if or when it will apply on my lakes---but I just think it's funny how quick we are to jump all over something.
  22. Awesome paint!! What kind of bodies are those???
  23. Got a tourney at Ft. Loudon in a couple weeks. How's the fishing been and how have you been catching them??
  24. Charlie Hartley owns his own signage company.
  25. Just something to think about. Your wiley's are actually an amber lens, not green. Just the mirror coating is green, the actual lens is an amber. The costa might be an actual green lens
