  1. You should try a variety of retrieves every time out and see what the bass want. Sometimes they will hit on one just sitting on the water after one pop and other times you will need to move it back to the boat with a steady pop-pop-pop.
  2. I had one and had nothing but problems with it. Line twists every time out and line getting caught on the little line keeper or something else during casts that would snap the mono and send the lure flying into the trees. (I know that sounds stupid, but I read on another post someone else had this issue). I replaced mine with a Symetre and couldn't be happier.
  3. A micro light combo is a little under-powered for bass fishing and way under-powered for catfishing.
  4. We have a pretty good deli in my town. They make a breakfast sandwich called "the gutbuster". It is a 12" sub roll with 2 fried eggs, 2 hash-brown patties, about 6 slices of Taylor Ham (pork roll in South Jersey) and melted cheese. You can also get it with bacon or sausage or both or all 3. If you finish it in one sitting you'll know how it got it's name.
  5. If you are having much better luck in the pond as compared to the lake, why do you rate the lake as easier? This does not make sense to me.
  6. You wil get a lot of different answers to this question. If you can tell everyone what type of fishing you plan to do with this setup, ie: baits, cover, presentation, it will help with suggestions.
  7. How many of the brakes do you have turned on?
  8. These are fished like a buzz-bait. Reel in fast enough to keep the bait moving along the surface with the legs paddling and stirring/splashing the water. Fish them anywhere you want, but you will likely have most success in grass, pads or on edges of both.
  9. A guy walks into a psychiatrist's office wearing nothing but a suit made out of Saran Wrap. The doctor takes one look at him and says "Well, I can clearly see your nuts".
  10. My lake is switching to only AGM batteries this year so I will have to replace my old ones. I have a WaterQuest Basstender 11'3" which can hold 2 batteries which I have wired in parrallel to provide 12v. The boat weighs about 350 lbs, is on a 126 acre lake and I can recharge it at the dock after every trip. I'm trying to come up with the best option of either 2 smaller batteries or 1 big one. I think 2 smaller ones equivilent to size 24 Walmart types will be cheaper than one big one but I really don't know if the output will be the same, better or worse. I don't want to spend money I don't have to spend, but I also don't want to undersize to the point of limping back to the dock after a day trolling the shorelines. Does anyone have any experience or knowledge about this topic?
  11. I'm heading out with my local club for Stripers tomorrow. I'll post some pics if we get some big ones.
  12. I had a lot of luck with a black Cavitron a few years ago and for some reason stopped using it. I just placed an order on Megastrike site for a few more. Thanks for reminding me.
  13. NYR 3 Caps 2 - OT. As much as I like staying up until after midnight during the week, wearing a path in my carpet while the dogs try to figure out what is wrong with me, this is the kind of Over Time Playoff Hockey I like. Tie it up with 6.6 seconds left in regulation and then put it away at 1:35 if OT. Caps will be tough on home ice on Wed.
  14. I'm still tired from watching that triple overtime gem the other night. Rangers have to solve Holtby early tomorrow night and put these guys away.
  15. Where would you put your pliers?
  16. What about the "minor times"? Is this time the worst time or almost as good as the "major times"?
  17. those guys got it figured out.
  18. I got a note that some kids at my local lake were using live sunnies as bait over the weekend. Does anyone know if this is legal or not? I read the NJ Fishing Regulations and it lists what "baitfish" you can legally take, but it doesn't say if you can use other gamefish for bait or not. Hoping someone knows the law on this.
  19. Thanks. I got a 10% off coupon from TW this morning so I can get a gallon for $56.
  20. Anyone know if KVD Line & Lure is sold in large containers? I use so much of it I would like to just refill my little bottle rather than replace it.
  21. Anybody try the Chatterbait Flashback Shad yet?
  22. That is my plan, exactly. I just got the Fenwick Elite 6'9" M/XF to use with poppers, props and spooks. I switched to baitcasting gear almost exclusively last year and I really miss the fight that goes along with spinning gear. With the baitcasting gear I just feel like I set the hook and haul the fish to the boat. I may lose a few fish to the pads and weeds on 6lbs Yo-Zuri US, but the adrenaline rush will make it worth it. I can't wait til the water warms up and I can start seeing those explosive strikes again.
  23. When 5 out of 5 replies say the issue is ralated to over-sized line, I think you should downsize the line.
