I love Tungsten! In fact, now that I think of it, the thought of having to go back to lead makes me want to vomit.

I used a silver max all last season, and it was pretty descent for the money. I will say, however, that it did like to be lubed often (like after every time out), or else it made some funky noises once in a while. I still have it, and will keep it as a back up for my jig rod.

I just got an SX, and havent been fishing with it yet, but have spent a few hours toying with it and casting it. It's a precision piece of equipment, and I'll admit, I was all worried about it being out of my league from the other thread. After setting it up and starting out slow, I discovered that this reel's only fault, is that it's so nice! The thing just needs your love, and I swear, she'll throw a lure a country mile, smooth as silk, no backlashes at all. I love it, and I see at least one more in my future.

I think it would fine for her. They are really nice rods. I have the casting, and am waiting on the spinning to come off back order. Tell you what, at that price, buy it, and if you or her don't like it, pm me, and I'll take it off your hands for what you paid. That's a better rod than my wife uses by a mile!

Yeah, it was one surprise after another. That stuff is just what my wife got for me, but she's been picking apart my BPS wish list for months. She's a good girl. And here I am sitting in the middle of a frozen tundra up here, so I really won't get to use most of my stuff till spring. Oh well. I know one thing... I'll let you know how I like it, but so far in the back yard, IT'S SWEET!!! I love it, and is by far the nicest feeling combo I've ever handled. I have the spinning version of the Vendetta coming at some point from BPS, but they are currently backordered. I just got a Shimano Stradic for that rod, and cannot wait to get them two together!

Thank you all for the comments. I'm very excited about this setup. I spooled her up as advised with some flouro backing with an Alberto's Knot as Jig Man suggested. Then we went out to the back yard, where I was floored by the smoothness of this real. It could definitely be dangerous, it's so smooth and fast! Thanks everybody, you rock!

I've done it. I guess it depends on where they were stored, and how much you actually used them. Just shoot 'em with some Line and Lure, and run it! Then if you end up having an issue, it's no biggie to respool.

I was on my small pond a couple times, and actually to my surprise, there were 3 guys out there already! I have never seen anyone else fish this place, but get 6" of ice, and the place is mobbed! Gotta do something in these winters to get through.

Santa dropped me off a new combo, and I would like to hear any tips or advise for things to check or do before I spool her up. I am planning on running 30lb Suffix braid ( I have it right here). Are these reels set to rock right out of the box? I've been following the thread on these reels, and will probably have something to add after I get to throw this thing. I know one thing, This combo feels amazing! The rod is the 7'MH fast Vendetta, and the reel is a Revo SX (undecided on whether to trade it in for a HS). This will be my froggin' setup. Nice!! That is a sweet rod, too. I have the same one that is my shallow crank and trap rod, and I love it!

I was told about Chatterbaits a while ago from a friend, but never tried one until recently. When my waters started cooling way down, and the ponds were muddy, I threw my first ever black and blue Chatterbait with a matching Rage Baby Craw. This picture is of my second biggest bass ever, a 7lb 5oz honey that thought they looked pretty good. I am a strong beleiver in them now, and have about 12 of the Z Man Chatterbaits.

I walked across my favorite pond today. On ice. Very sad day.
