landing from the bank
If it's braid don't grab the line, you can cut yourself. When we catch smaller snook at the inlet, 7-8 # and less we spring them up with the rod, it's about a 10' drop. You can't spring them directly from the water but if we can get them to a ledge springing is pretty easy. When I get a large one just crawl down to waters level.

- Do I really need a big reel for small swimbaits?
I don't use large swimbaits but i do throw lots of lures in the 1-3 oz range. IMO it's the rod that counts much more than the reel, I use only spinning. The rod has to be able to load up properly and handle the lure weight, the size of the reel only matters if I need line capacity or more horsepower for larger species( have caught many fish over 20# on a 2000 reel). It's doubtful while bass fishing you need to have a reel with lots of line capacity,50- 100 yds runs probably won't happen. Even a 2000 reel holds at least 200 yds of 20# braid.- Computer people I need help!
I use malwarebytes and advancesystemcare , both free and between them my computer is healthy.- Census-How many of you use Megastrike Fishing Products-WHY /WHY NOT
Whether I'm impressed or not is of no value, it's whether the fish is impressed. I do not use any scent to try and bolster size or numbers and I'm assuming they work. To me it's like an athlete using performance enhancing drugs. There is enough technology out there already for me, better rods and reels, better lines, hooks, better and more realistic looking lures, fish finders and underwater cameras..........how much of an edge does one need?- Shimano Rods
I like my clarus spinning a lot. I have a Shimano tallus blue water for offshore spinning, it's fair, doesn't compare to my Star rods( sorry I bought this one). I also have a freshwater sojourn I use in saltwater for barracuda, 1/2 -3 oz 25 lb class, casts excellent with a great backbone, wonderful rod and it was only $ 29.95.- Anyone else smoke a pipe?
Glass is a bit harsh isn't it? Briar is a smooth smoke, regardless of what you are putting in it.- How many states fishing licences do you have?
I don't think a national or regional license would be of any benefit towards tourism. If I were to fish a state other than my own the non resident fee would not be a deterrent. If the additional license expense is that significant then probably the entire trip would be out of one's budget.- How many states fishing licences do you have?
With a valid driver's license one is allowed to drive in the other 49 states, Mexico and Canada as a non resident of each of those jurisdictions with no additional premium. Each one of the states collects a fee which is used solely within that state. I submit that fishing licenses, hunting licenses or any other type of business license or permit be able to cross boundaries as well, but as in the case of the D.L. at no additional premium. The reality is that it would never fly as a fee is nothing but a tax and I see no state giving up that income. I'm no longer required to have resident fishing license.- BPS in memphis doesnt sell salt water series baits
The BPS in Ft Lauderdale is weak on saltwater lures, spoons, and jigs ( I prefer Dick's) and it's only a few miles from the ocean. I buy my saltwater equipment based on what I'm fishing for, in many cases freshwater & saltwater lures are interchangeable. For me a simple rule of thumb, if the fish has teeth it's a waste to spend too much on lures, one strike and they may destroy it. For fish without teeth, just about any bass lure will do fine. In my experience when fishing artificial I catch more fish using a simple generic silver spoon than anything else, feathers work very well. I fish with just 1 spoon , 1 jig, 1 xrap or facsimile and top lure....maybe a storm wild eyed shad in my pocket too, all I need.- Fishing in Saltwater
Not a bit of problem with braid and saltwater, I use it daily. I've had the same braid on some reels for year or 2 with no adverse affect. I prefer braid for saltwater( for fresh too).- Where is all the Pfleuger and Quantum??
Don't get me wrong the stradic is a very good reel, just not my personal favorite, I have others that perform as well if not better. The only negative thing, besides a sticky bail that I pay no attention to, is the price, I think the entire Shimano line up is 25% over priced and not a great value, jmo. At least 75% of my fishing is saltwater so I won't go into detail. As far as my freshwater goes my cardinal 802 is my hands down best performer, originally a saltwater reel that handled snook and tarpon but I wanted more line capacity so I use it for bass now. I'm sure the c-14 is a fine reel and you be happy with it. I'm not as hung up on " light weight " as I once was, have no idea what my cardinal 802 weighs but it feels good and I have a supreme 30 that's plenty light and a darn good reel and value.- Another Rant...
I personally have not checked this out but I'm going to on my next trip to Costco, my wife's glaucoma eye drops cost me about $150. a month. http://www.opednews.com/articles/Costco--Unbelievable-by-the-web-100119-253.html- Where is all the Pfleuger and Quantum??
I can echo the above statement. My quarry are snook, tarpon, jacks and barracuda and these fish are powerful. I have had no trouble with my supreme 35, Abu soron 40, stradic fi 4000 and Quantum Cabo 30. The stadic may be smoothest but not best in field, I give that honor to the Cabo, but it's on the heavy side. My hands down favorite is my soron 40. This being said, the rod is more important than the reel, most of the reels will do a more than adequate job.- Another Rant...
Prior to 1996 I employed 40-50 people giving them and their families full healthcare at no cost to them, the same top of the line plan I had for me and my wife. In 96 I shut my operation down and became a broker, I then got my healthcare thru the chamber of commerce ( for self employed ) so I could be in a group. That plan started out at $338 per month and within 7 years it had catapulted to $ 1164 per month, 277% increase if my memory serves. I then retire in 2003 and now have to get an individual plan, to stay in my group one has to show business income so I had to leave. My new plan wasn't cheap and the coverage did not compare. We move to Florida and the rates double for less than I had back in my home state. Now just my wife on that plan as I just went on Medicare and don't think for second that it's a free ride, it isn't. Paid into the fund my entire working career and their is a monthly charge plus supplemental is needed and not everything is covered. That said, medicare is a great plan and not to get political I will not point out some of shortfalls in the system. I've been on both sides of this game and there is nothing more important than healthcare insurance, without it is a huge gamble.- Blaze Crankbaits
Obviously the nayayers have never used them. They are @2.99 and I use them, the blaze minnow and popper, the minnow is one my favorite jerkbaits. At 2.99 I don't care how long they last, but have a few a that are 2 or 3 years old, I replace the hooks with #4 vmc saltwater trebles. Bottom line, I catch lots of fish with them.- What have you purchased recently????? 2010
At 65 I just discovered I'm a diabetic, been about 45 days, making very good progress.- Looking for new spinning rod. Suggestions?
There are rods out there that don't have the name recognition as some of the more popular ones on the market. Sometimes it's worth a shot to try something else, often times you may be pleasantly surprised. One of my acquaintances bought a 7' 8/17 med rod, I handled it and fell in love, extremely light with awesome backbone, so I bought one ( mine is 8' 8/17), then a another friend saw mine and then got one. Each of these 3 rods have handled fish well over 30# both from a personal standpoint as well as being a witness. It's become my favorite rod..........TSUNAMI AIRWAVE, $100., paid $65 for mine.- You bet power pro is strong
Those marlin catches are awesome. Enrico is no weekend fisherman targeting crappie from the bank. This man is a pure professional in every sense of the word, fishing with a professional crew. The captain's expertise at the helm is every bit as important as Enrico's amazing talent, both in knowing how handle the boat as well locating the fish in the first place. ABSOLUTELY AWESOME !!- Hot Day with a Slow Bite...
I think it's a good name, I like it.- What do you think?
To make a 3 rd party decision without knowing the all facts is something I would not do. How low an income family is this and do they qualify for medicaid or any other government program? My first priority is to my wife and children, without me they may suffer hardships that I don't want them to. A two parent home, my income and the fact their dad and husband is a convicted felon is a burden that I don't want them carry. No way in the world would I take the chance of going to prison for someone that will die anyway. The cancer victim most likely has had a life already, my kids haven't. The prospect of meeting BUBBA creates no real excitement for me either.- senko as a trailer?????????
BPS has on it's shelves a bucktail jig with a worm trailer called a "snookball", I've used them for years, generally I just stick a trailer on one of my Wahoo flats jigs. Works well for bass as well as other fish.- 1 bait for the rest of your life
Spoon, fishes everywhere. Freshwater, saltwater, inshore, offshore and just about any species will hit them.- Could someone please enlighten me
Never use the hook keeper, have yet to see any one else use it. Normally I tie my lure fresh when I get to my fishing site, but when not using that rod the guide works fine never producing a nick.- I had no idea McNuggets...
Hoping she doesn't have a CCW. - Do I really need a big reel for small swimbaits?
