The Florida deluge of water changes everything.
Spillway gates open, good bass fishing on fresh side and outstanding snook fishing on the salt side.

spinning reel for less 100 dollars
Whether spending over or under $100 the same issues still apply. Speaking for myself only, I never buy a reel based solely on recommendation, that's a popularity contest. I take my time and do research. What am I going to use that reel for, weight and how does it balance on the rod I'm going to use it on? . What is my target species and do I really need a reel with a strong drag, not all are equal? Does size, line capacity and materials used in construction matter? Personal past experience with that brand and if needed how is their customer service. IMO most reels today are pretty decent, but if I'm unhappy with my selection it becomes part of the learning process.

Spooling powerpro only, which do i use?
You're right, I don't understand it because I've never had it happen. As matter of fact I just bought a new Abu Soron 60 and as long as I'm going to the store to buy some braid I may as well have them spool it up for me. I'm sure he will use a few yards of backing and tie, that's ok with me but if I did it myself I would just tape it.........I like to make things easy. BTW I won't be going out today, 14' seas in the gulfstream........lol.

A spool is a spool regardless of how it is mounted on the reel, line tied or taped to metal. Most freshwater fish, at least the ones I've caught do not peel that much line off. I use the same basic equipment for fish than can and do peel off lots of line and never a slippage. True I use spinning gear for almost everything except offshore ocean, 20#braid taped to a conventional reel ( Avet MXJ ) never slipped. Whatever method one is comfortable with that's the one that should be used.

Flats guide recommendations out of Islamorada
As I said I don't remember the guide's name but he produced. We sight casted with spinning and caught trout, triple tail, sharks up to 60#, snook and juvie tarpon. We saw permit and bonefish but could not tempt them.

I was but I don't remember the guide's name, was a couple of years ago. I'm thinking of going down there myself end of October for a few days, there or the Bahamas for bonefish.

Florida, January recommendations.
If it were me I'd fish for something I don't normally catch when I go on vacation. Good bass are pretty easy to catch in January, I get 5-6# walking the shore in my backyard. I'd head south and go for peacocks or to the keys for some inshore saltwater. Around where I live the saltwater bite is slow in the winter.

IMO the only reason to use backing is to save money by spooling less braid. I spool up with braid all the way, never had a slippage issue. http://www.powerpro.com/publish/content/global_fish/en/nl/powerpro/company/using_powerpro.html

stolen debit card numbers
Do you have proof positive that a Jewish person used your credit card #? The fact is that JDate also has members not of the Jewish faith. JDate is no different than any other online service, unscrupulous people are everywhere. We have had a number of sizable fraudulent credit card charges, one phone call generally clears up the situation. I make a point of checking the recent activity online of all my credit cards about once a week, I like to nip things in the bud.

Barometric Pressure
In Florida some of my best fishing days come as hurricanes approch the area that's when the barometer gets low. Holds true even more so in saltwater, storms bring fish in.

power pro question
I fish nothing but braid, no backing and fill the spool all the way. I use a max of 15# for freshwater and have been using the same line for a few seasons and I fish year round. I think you are over thinking this line biz, just go fish.

A W E S O M E !
The guy in the video is very good, it's all about technique. In Florida Flip Pallot may be the quintessential expert on fly fishing for big tarpon, Flip is in his late 60's.

Tarpon, that time of year
I have seen them busting bait in the intracosal early morning but no hits, did manage a big snook. Many times when they are busting bait it is harder not easier to catch them. Just keep throwing xraps, windcheaters, soft plastics and jigs, it will happen. Getting the strike is only the first hurdle, it's keeping them on once they jump. This is one formidable fish to catch.

It's raining fish
No question about it Juno is way better fishing than the Boynton area, I was up there last week and caught a few near the pier, not till after sunrise. Then drove up to the Jupiter inlet, it was quiet for the most part but I was jigging for them right next to the rocks and did pretty good, at my age I don't standing on those rocks anymore. Yesterday was not nearly as good as it has been, tide is everything, later in the cycle usually means less bait and less fish and yesterday was no exception to that rule, the trough was less defined and surf was only about 2-3' and very windy.........I love the wind ! Still managed some fish but they ran small yesterday.

It's raining fish
The beach has been pretty good as of late but you still need to find the hot one, not all beaches are hot at the same time. Even though the mullet run has not started in my part of Florida there is a lot of white bait. I've been catching snook, tarpon, jacks & ladyfish, some macs have been reported. Winds have been easterly around 20mph on the beach with a 2-4 ft surf NE swell creating an excellent trough. Spoons and bucktails rule these conditions and the best way to fish them is not to burn them in, but a slowish retrieve letting the waves bounce the lures around. My strike to cast ratio dramatically increased using this technique.
