  1. My wife and I have vacation coming up on Labor Day week. We're stumped on where to go though. We did the D.C. thing last year, we visit the beach regularly because of family living there. Where are some good places within about a 5 hour drive of Staunton, VA to go? Keep in mind I have a 16 month old son and a 4 year old daughter that will be with us. The wife said fishing is probably out of the queston too! :
  2. I'd say 2.16lbs. The mouth is decent size in comparison to his had so I'm gonna guess a 15-16" bass. I always say this in my tourneys too and end up with a couple pounds less than I figured.

Congrats! There is nothing like stepping away from a job you dislike. I do not like the job I'm in at all but I've got a nice cool office and it has given me the opportunity to do what I want and that is head to college. I'm hoping to be out of here in the next few months.

I'm half and half on this one. I don't have super cheap combos but most of mine can be bought for less than $150 for the comob. When it comes to bait and terminal tackle I'm the same way. I REFUSE to pay for Senkos, Lucky Craft, etc. when I catch probably just as many and as quality of bass with zoom, bomber, etc. I don't skimp and get the cheap crankbaits that you can find at WM for $2.00 but there is no way anyone can convince me that a $15 crankbait is any better.
  5. I can't help but to grin from ear to ear every time I hear an Alabama fan just look past VT like they are nothing. It'll just make it feel a bit sweeter when we come home with a victory.
  6. Doing your dad like that is always fun. The payback is often terrible though. ;D
  7. I'm with FBL. I put the trolling motor on high and hit as much as I can. Even if you have 5 small bass, the time restraints will probably put you near the top.
  8. Lawrence Taylor was my all time favorite. Otis Anderson Walter Peyton The "Fridge" William Perry Mike Singletary As you can tell I'm a Giants and Bears fan! There are just too many names to list.
  9. It's been a long time but they used to sell maps at Worsham grocery near the entrance to the ramp. It's not a really detailed map but it's the only one I know of.
  10. You can definitely rate the stability when it comes time to pee! ;D
  11. I've fished many times off a 2100 with a 200. One of the best fishing boats I've ever been on. The stability of these boats is insane.

This guy not only has talent but way more patience than I ever would! http://abclocal.go.com/kgo/story?section=news/local/north_bay&id=6871007
  13. Try to find you some spots off the main channel away from all the boats and you should have a decent time. Get there early and hit the topwater bite. Also, hit the docks hard!
  14. Very nice!
  15. Nice fish! I'm guessing between 8 and 10lbs?!
  16. Tired! hahahahahahahahahaha Let's see....I get up at 4:40am, go to work, get home at 3:00pm, do housework and yardwork, etc. if needed. Pick up 2 kids from daycare at 4:30, have supper ready by about 5:30 when wife gets home. Bath kids, 1 year old down by about 8:00, 4 year old down by about 9:00 and in bed by about 10:00. Oh yeah, did I mention that my wife and I are both full time college students thrown in on top of this.....now we're talking tired!!!!
  17. I saw this a couple weeks back. I can't even imagine catching one like that. My pb blue is just over 40lbs and I thought that was big.
  18. First off, I'm not one to put a lot of money into my rods so I'm looking for something under $50. I use an ultralight/light rod and reel for my wade fishing in the local rivers around here. We catch smallmouth up to about 4-5lbs so I need something strong enough to take it when I get them. I have been using an old Diawa Triforce for several years but finally snapped it yesterday. I want something that is under 6' in length and I prefer a little stiffer rod. I hate casting ultralite rods and the tip just flops around. I know it's hard to get all this with the price restriction but that what I want. If any of you can recommend a rod and where to get it I'd surely appreciate it.
  19. Congrats!

  21. Glad to see all these big heads in here. I'm 6'5" and 330lbs and I also have a big head. Itz holden al tham beeg brayns n ma haid!
  22. I'll start by saying that I absolutely SUCK at prespawn and spawn fishing! I feel like I can hold my own in just about any kind of condition other than spawn but I'm not great at any of them.
  23. Sorry, but I see a huge problem here. My wife and I have our issues as all married couple do but we know where each other is going to be at all times. To be away from the house all day at a tourney she should definitely know where you are. You two should sit down and talk. Communication is the key to marriage. Just trying to help...take it for what it's worth.
  24. Micro hit the nail on the head. Game wardens are very sparse across the entire country. Until they put more money towards the program (which will probably never happen while we're alive) it will continue to happen. One word of note, please don't blame the wardens that are out there for all these troubles. Every single warden I've encountered is doing their job to the best of their abilities.
