  1. I just got back from an awesome few days of fishing. We did decent on Whitehurst with a few 2-3lbers but the N'west river really did good. We caught may a dozen on Thursday topped by one that was 21 1/2" long and about 7lbs. Between Thurs. and Fri. on the river we caught about 10 bass over 3lbs. I also caught my first bowfin and white bass. Bad part was that we busted a prop on a stump on Friday evening.
  2. You can't forget us working bums who take summer semester! My classes start back up in 2 weeks.
  3. Thanks guys! We've planned on Whitehurst Wed., NW River Thurs., local ponds to include a local hawg hole we've visited many times on Fri.
  4. I also love new bassboats. I find myself constantly watching them flying down the lake. It never gets old hearing the sound of the pad smacking the small waves and hearing the engine roar past.
  5. Nice ride!
  6. Whatever it takes! I used to have a Geo Prizm that I would take down some pretty bad backroads to get to fishing spots. I bent the crossmember protecting the tranny dragging through those roads. The things a bass will make you do. ;D
  7. I'll be staying in Chesapeake from Tues. till Sunday next week. We're staying at relatives place and I'm planning on fishing everyday. We normally hit up some local ponds and fish the Northwest River. We are planning on checking out Whitehurst and maybe some others. What's our best bet on bass fishing down there right now?
  8. You only got one negative reaction. You must remember that those who don't care about the sport of fishing or have issues with people taking advantage of their property may see a picture like that and assume the same as LBH did. I know it may seem too PC but you have to be that way anymore. Anyway, welcome to BR. There are a lot of guys up your way and I'm sure someone will have an open seat at some point.
  9. Yikes, I didn't even notice that. Good eye LBH!

I've got to get back down there this year. I swear this lake has the best population of 3-5lb bass in the state. I also love the fact that boat traffic is nothing on this lake. You should have a great time. With spawn pretty much over there and the water level just above 300 you can't ask for much better.
  11. RW, if I wanted a cookie cutter car that just goes then the choices you have shown would do just fine. If I want something that has a little character then I'll go for the big 3. I consider myself an automotive enthusiest and base my opinions on more than just fuel mileage and a good a/c. Edit: The Granada may have not been the most popular car on earth but it was a basic car that would last forever IF you took decent care of it. I can gaurantee that it would outlast just about any foreign car from that era.
  12. That's funny to me. Ford, Chevy, Dodge, Toyota, etc, etc, all make fine vehicles. To say one is all good, and the rest are crap, is just plain silly. It really all comes down to personal tastes. I agree. I do think that Ford's styling over the years has been leaps and bounds above the rest. This and the fact that I've always worked on vehicles with my dad and that's the brand I know best are the reasons why I like them. Heck, my dad owns a Chevy now and I'd much rather pull the boat with it over my Expedition.
  13. Let me guess....you must be riding around in a Kia to have this kind of opinion. I've always been a Ford guy so I'll always be skeptical of the Camaro. From everything I've read it is definately a fast car. I just don't care much for the styling. It looks a bit too much like a Caddy to me. As much as I want to say I'd take a Mustang before anything I'm really falling in love with a lot of what Dodge is coming out with. That being said, I think the Challenger is the sexiest car on the road right now. Get an SRT8 package and it has everything I want.
  14. That's the house. I can't even imagine trying to live next to it!
  15. Since this thread has already gone to hell in a handbasket I'll ask something different. Dan, I have to ask....what is up with the frat house near the intersection of main stree and cantrell? They party there 24/7. Week before last they had the orange wind fence like they use on construction sites around the yard. There's rarely a time I go by there and a good game of beer pong is not going on. Sorry, I just had to ask.
  16. I was at Walmart a little bit ago and my eye caught some packages of YUM baits in one of those boxes they lay on the bottom shelf with cheap lures. The YUM baits in the box were packs of 5 soft plastic shad baits. I bought all 4 packs they had because they look like great baits. 2 packs are rainbow trout colored and about 7" long with a wide flat tail just like a real trout has. Once pack is a smokey shad color with a tail similar in shape to a worm but had the similar tail as the others except the tail was much narrower. The last pack was a mix between the two except about 4" and black smoke in color. The 2 packs of smoke colored baits with the small tails have a slit in the stomach for the hook but the trout colored baits did not have this slit. I've searched YUM's site and cannot find any of these baits listed. The reason I'm curious if they are just some prototype is the fact that they only have 5 baits in the package and were $1.27 each!
  17. Good advice about being stern about what you want! I got awarded FA for last fall and this spring and asked them why that was all I got since it wasn't as much as last year and they went back in and came up with enough to pay for all my books for the semester. That was well worth the wait in their office as it paid for over $1000 just for my books for the year.
  18. I'd personally go for the Tracker. It's tried and true and the aluminum is very forgiving for those unsuspecting sandbars that many first time boat owners encounter. (I'm speaking from experience here. lol) Why? I fished many times off an 88 Ranger 350v with a 150 johnson. The boat rode like a wagon! It was great while fishing but the ride killed you getting there. The Johnson is a very strong motor but I believe most of those years had power head troubles. My wifes uncle has an 89 Winner and if I didn't know any better it's almost identical to the Rangers of the same generation with all the same issues.
  19. ALWAYS apply for your FAFSA. You pay taxes when you work and the government is providing this for people who may not have the money up front to pay for school. My wife and I are both in college and we both are lucky enough that the government wants us to make something of ourselves and provides this little bit of relief. It probably won't pay for all your classes but it will get you started. Also check the financial aid office at your college as a lot of states have grants that they also hand out through the year. The deadline has already passed but still apply TODAY! The sooner you apply the better the chance of getting something since it is first come first serve. Get your tax returns in front of you as you will need these to fill out your financial aid. Chances are good you will also be selected to send copies of the returns to your college financial aid office. Check out your local credit union for student loans. My wife is in accounting at a local credit union here and can tell you many of the benefits of using one versus independent loan companies or banks. Hope this helps!
  20. I catch them pretty regular around here while smallie fishing in the rivers but I don't think I've ever caught one over a pound or so. Nice fish!
  21. We switched to skim milk 5-6 years ago. I can't stand the flavor of whole milk now. I feel like it's so thick and just too rich.
  22. If I were to change anything with what you have I'd remove the swivel. IMO, it hampers the action of the Fluke.
  23. I'd most definatly hit the NW corner of the lake. Good deepwater access with little pressure and the only shallow area on that side of the lake.
  24. I'm happy to say I had this problem this evening. I went to check out a local pond and saw MANY bass on the edges. Very spooky and didn't want anything unless you basically ran it into them and they bit out of instinct. I have never caught anything on a Chatterbait.....until today! I started absolutely burning a chartreuse Chatterbait with a white trailer and they would explode on the thing. I caugth quite a few fish although none were over about 2lbs. Still fun though!!!
  25. That is good!
