fanny bag for walkin fisherman?
I do a lot of river wading and pond fishing so I have a small, hard plastic, double sided box about 10" x 5" x 3". I have a strap tied to it and loop in through a belt loop in my pants or shorts. I think stick my needlenose in my back pocket and head out. It stay out of the way and works great!

Fishing Flukes
Most everyone has hit all aspects of rigging so I'll say colors. I primarily fish two colors...albino and blue pearl. They seem to attract the bass better than the other colors. Baby bass will sometimes work but I don't seem to get near the bites with it.

New "home" lake PB lmb!
Nice catch! I don't think I've ever heard of a bass that size coming out of there.

Any of you ever read these.....
articles on bassmaster? I've been reading them for the last few months and immensly enjoy them. It just so happens that he lives about 45 minutes from me. I've spoken to him several times through email and he just seems very down to earth and loves the sport with a passion. Take some time and read through his blogs. http://sports.espn.go.com/outdoors/bassmaster/news/story?page=b_blog_annarino_2009

Spring Arrives on March 20
I"m gonna hit a pond right after I get off work at 1:30 and try to catch em before this front hits. The wind is dead calm right now and it's 56* outside. It just feels fishy! If the weather holds out next week I'll have the jon boat out 3-4 times by the end of the week. Bass should be moving up great right now. Did I mention I FREAKIN' LOVE SPRINGTIME WEATHER!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Decreasing Interest in the Outdoors
It really is tough trying to figure out how much technology for kids is too much nowadays. My 4 year old daughter can type like crazy on the computer and she plays learning games on the internet and enjoys it. On the other hand, I'm dead set against video games and will push hard to not have one in my house for her or my 1 year old son. I've got her hooked on fishing and I'm planning on doing him the same way. We spend tons of time out in the yard too. I love putting old clothes on them and letting them get down and dirty outside instead of being like some kids and saying "ooh, that icky dirt!".

best tasting lake fish??
Trout is always good table fare but if I had to pick one I'd say Crappie. There is nothing like fixin' up several for a good evening in front of the grill!

55 Over Par
Congrats! That must have been a blast.

Never Assume!
I always said this one would never get me and it has gotten me twice now!!! Nothing like the feel of panic when you are several miles from the ramp and no plug in the boat. :-?

Where Else to Look?
Just keep watching Craigslist. They are always on there especially this time of year.

8-Pound Smalllmouth?
My boss has a place on Claytor. I'll ask him Monday if he heard anything. I think he's down there this weekend anyway.

JonnyBoy from VA
I'll be the first to officially welcome you! I used to do a lot of work when the construction was booming over near Culpeper and drooled over a couple of ponds and small lakes over there. If you ever get a chance to head in the the valley let me know and we'll hook up for a few hours of fishing.

Quantum Accurist Bait Caster?
Worth every penny of it. I wish I had the extra money because I'd pick up a couple of them.

Nitro NX 882 SC?
The 150 was standard on them but 175 is the max. I test drove a one when buying my Nitro in 99 and absolutely loved it. being that I was young with good but little credit I couldn't get it so I settled on a 700lx. I hear basing of Nitros all the time but I can tell you that in the 8 years I owned my Nitro I beat the crap out of it and it never failed. My brother in law now owns it and he hammers it more than I did. The price does seem a tad high though.

WALNUT CREEK PARK
I've never fished it but I checked it out last year for a possible trip this year. I'm sure Wayne P. has fished it since he fishes all the local lakes around C'ville.

For you "older" guys...time for fishing glasses????
Although I'm only 31 I've been wearing glasses since the age of 10. I finally switched over to cantacts about 10 years ago and it's a thousand times better than glasses. As soon as I can afford surgery I'm getting lasic.

Catching Blue Cats?
I used to fish for cats almost every weekend. We fished the James river. We found holes that had decent current yet had current breaks that ran as close to the dropoffs as possible. We seldom used cut bait on blues bot opted instead to use live bait. We also found that the bigger the bait the bigger the cat. My best is about 45lbs but my cousin had a knack for catching the big ones and landed many 60+lb blues.

Shorter Anglers
I'm 6'5" and prefer to fish with 6 1/2' rods. It's just what's comfortable. Are some of you guys overcompensating for something? ;D
