  1. I agree. I had a 17' Nitro with a 64lb and even in the strongest wind I never used it on high. I would like to see how fast it would move it though!
  2. You may not be saving money but you are saving your life....congrats!
  3. This thing made rounds on another board I visit. You'll never get this stupid thing out of your head!
  4. If it keeps 1 kid from turning into a cancer breathing machine then it's worth every penny!
  5. It's nice to find helpful people on the water like that!
  6. He says one very important thing. Fish where most of the boats you see are sitting. I try this when on the lake but it's tough when you want more bites. It does pay off very well to do this though. Why is it that the big bass seem to stay back some? It's as if they do the same thing that big bucks do. They let the smaller ones take the chances while they hang back to assess the situation first.
  7. I've only been there 3 times and I caught a 5+ pounder each trip there. I was fortunate enough to catch them schooling near the dam on my last trip there. They had some bluegill pushed together and were slamming them. I threw a bright red and yellow chug bug and tore them up for quite a while. The biggest that day was my dad's and it was a little over 8lbs. That place is something else. Wayne, what kind of camera setup do you have? I see you are holding a remote to take the pics. Just curious because it gives some nice pics.
  8. You whould be fine with that. I towed for 2 years with my 00 Explorer which is based on the Ranger and had no problems. Keep it in drive and never put it in OD or your tranny will be toast. These things don't have the stongest trannys anyway.
  9. I had the EXACT same problem on my 99 90hp Merc. It ended up being the high flow jets in the carbs were gummed up. Idling and up to about 2500rpm it was perfect but would not do anything more. It would just not build the rpms. You may want to have a shop check it out.

Skank! Top that off with the fact that she's a huge supporter of PETA and it all ends there.
  11. Take 33 East till you see rte 340. Take 340 north out of Elkton towards Shenandoah. It's only maybe 5 miles to Shenandoah. When you come through town turn left at the Mcdonalds. You will go under a VERY small underpass for the railroad tracks. Just before you get to the river turn on the little gravel road/parking lot to the left and you can fish the whole stretch up through there. It's not a real productive area due to the fishing pressure from the locals but it'll get your line wet. Just stay on 340 north and it will take you all the way to I-66. It's a pretty drive and you'll go by MANY places to fish along the way.
  12. I come down there and fish a couple times each year. We've got family in Browns Summit so we usually hit the local lakes and ponds. I don't know anything about the rivers and I haven't caught any smallies down that way.
  13. One pond that I fish has some thick vegitation around the edges and I use the finesse worm with a heavy bullet sinker to punch through the weeds and it works great.
  14. I went out today and caught my first fish of the year. It was a 2lb bass. I caught it on a blue/white Bomber crankbait in about 12 ft of water. Man did that feel good. It's been about 4 months since I had a fish on the line.
  15. Always use the safety chains and cross them over each other to form a cradle with the chain. I was with my cousin one time when the same thing happened as you and he had the chains but they weren't crossed and it was terrible getting a 19' Ranger to stop behind his truck just on the chains. Also make sure the chains are in good shape and if they've been replaced make sure they are rated for the weight of our boat.
  16. BTW, tomorrow is now calling for 74* and 10-15mph winds out of the SW. There is also a front approaching and it's calling for a chance of rain showers tomorrow night. The SW wind should put things in my favor because the biggest hill is on that side of the pond therefore blocking a good bit of the wind.
  17. I did not get out today since it was my sons first birthday. I'll be on the water about 2pm tomorrow and plan on spending 3-4 hours out there. The dam has riprap which is one of my favorite springtime and early morning summer things to fish. Nothing like casting a jerbait to it and raking them in.
  18. I love the fall fishing. When they start fattening up on shad I start living on the water just waiting for them.
  19. Wow! What a post! You just described exactly what I"m gonna have. The deep water is at the dammed end of the lake and I have about 2 acres of pure flat about 5' deep and cover in vegitation which is maybe 1' tall this time of year. I've also got one little cove that drops off pretty steep into 15-20' of water but the cove is only about 3' deep. The pond recieves a good bit of pressure but is really only accessible around the dam area. I will be in my boat on it. I've never really thought about how all the bluegill and such gather up when it warms up like that. I've always just been a bank beater and I'm hoping to broaden my fishing skills this year and this pond has the potential to make me very happy. I let you know what happens over the next couple of days!
  20. The reason I'm asking is that this pond has some HUGE bass in it and I want to try to figure something out. I don't have much time to fish it this weekend because it's my son's 1st birthday and we've got a bunch of family in town so my time will be limited or the wife will be ticked.
  21. Forgot those. Nighttime lows around 40-50 and winds out of the south at 5-10.
  22. The bass-jons is a good organization to be involved with. I got my first exposure with them because my brother in law fishes with the original bass jons in Norfolk. I fished a tourney with the Augusta County bass-jons last year and plan to fish their open tourney this year. Good luck with the club and when you get a website up let us know!
  23. I'm trying to decide which day/days to fish this weekend and early week. The water temp of the 8-9 acre pond that I fish is sitting at 47* as of yesterday. The next four days it calls to be 65, 74, 76 and 70 degrees. There is going to be a mix of clouds and sun over the four days. The deepest point of this pond is about 30' but most of it is under 15'. There are only a couple of trees around it and the water is somewhat clear with about 2' of visibility and lots of vegitation on the bottom. Any idea what the water temps might do over these days?
  24. I love when you guys post these pictures! The rainbow trout bait is now my background. How the heck do you throw a bait that looks that pretty? I'd be scared to death to tear it up or lose it!
