What's Your Favorite Bourbon?
We have a friend of the family who works for Beam. Haven't spoke with her yet, I hope she doesn't lose the free booze benefit our family has become accustomed to over the years.

Are You In A Bass Club?
That's a crock! There was a open club tourney the beginning of last year for a club I do not fish but we fish the same water and I follow their stats closely. 28 boats showed up and 2 fish were weighed in. They paid out 4 places. The team that weighed in the bigger fish got 1st, 3rd, and big bass, The other team got 2nd and 4th. That's the way it should be done. I don't know how a tournament director can just cancel a payout if there are fish to be weighed. I disagree with the comment about the smaller boats. I've done quite well with a 17ft tin and a 90hp. Our club AOY's Skeeter was out for repairs during 2 tournaments last year. They cashed checks in both tourneys fishing out of a jon boat with a 9.9 and a aerated cooler for a livewell.

Strange Thoughts
A guy walks into a bar and asks for a shot of whisky and a beer chaser, the bartender asks to see his money at which time the man tells him that he hasn't got any but if he gives him the drinks he will fill his bar for him. The barkeep asks how the hell he will accomplish this, to which the man replies that he can play Beethoven's 3rd out of his ass. The bartender says ***, no one can do that so the man gets up on the bar, drops his pants, and does a perfect rendition of the tune. The bartender throws down the drinks and says that he has a deal (with dollar signs in his eyes) That night word has gotten out and the bar is filled to the top. The big moment comes and the man gets up on the bar, drops his drawers and craps all over everyone in the first 2 rows. The bartender yells "you wretched, I'm ruined!!! I'll never get another person in my bar!!!!” to which the man replies " I don't know what you are so upset about, even Frank Sinatra has to clear his throat before he sings!!"

Lure Action Or Color?
I think color is of less importance with bass than with other species, but tend to think the amount of light penetration has a lot to do with the fishes reaction towards choosing which color they like better. IMO Action plays a huge role and bait placement even moreso. I fish Lake Michigan for bass but there are guys who spend their lives trolling for salmonoids. A green Howie fly is probably the number one bait used. The action changes depending on the dodger and boat speed. You'll see patterns when the bite is triggered when the boat is turning. Turning the boat will increase the lure speed on the outside lines and decrease the speed on the inside lines. There's other days when only dipseys produce or yellow birds or down riggers.

Lure Action Or Color?
Action. I had a "lucky" Rattletrap in chrome and black. I caught more fish of all species on that one bait than any other single bait I have ever used. I had even tried it side by side with other chrome and black Rattletraps. It had worked just as well beat up, missing paint, with teeth marks from pike and king salmon. There was just something about this one lure that was better than others of it's kind. That lure is long gone. Chrome and black is a staple Rattletrap color for me. I have never been able to duplicate past results.

Boat Storage Question, A Little Odd
Any length of time? The HOA allows 24hrs where I live. Which gives me time to plug in overnight before I head out. Minn Kota makes a charger that uses the alternator on the big motor for charging the TM batteries, but I'm not sure that would work for you. There's also something called a stay in charge. Here's a recent thread similar to yours http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/129245-battery-charging/

Battery Charging
Something else you should be concerned with is the fuel. If its not being used up, and not properly treated, there is a possibility of the fuel going bad and gumming up the motor.

Should There Be Statewide Regulations For Pan Fish?
I think your use of the word fishery is biased towards bass. As far as we know, nature did just fine before man got involved at the top of the food chain. I would believe the harvesting of bass by fisherman has a more detrimental effect on the fishery than panfish. Fish have adapted to living with evasive species as well. They don't adapt to weed kills and frying pans As far as lead, they've already closed the last smelting plant. I don't think my opinion matters

Battery Charging
That's very possible as well. In that case, at the minimum, a portable jump box should be kept on the boat.

Battery Maintenance
This is what I do

Battery Charging
First off, I hope he's starting it in water or at least with earmuffs on. Starting the outboard is not charging the batteries. The outboard will need to run for some time to charge the starting battery, and does nothing for the trolling motor batteries. Either get a portable charger and charge each battery individually, or install an onboard charger with a total number of banks that equals the total number of batteries. He can then just plug the charger in when the boat is not in use.

Going Under The Knife Monday Morning
Thoughts and prayers are with you. I've had a couple shoulder surgeries but not the one your getting. I'm waiting to get a 3rd to reattach torn muscles to my shoulder blade. Shoulder surgery has the most difficult and intensive recovery of other orthopedic surgeries because the joint is so complicated. Stick to the PT and do the exercises at home. Good Luck

Are You In A Bass Club?
I don't think it's fair that boaters and non boaters compete against each other. At most, I might suggest having boater against boater and non boater against non boater. This may cause guys to drop out because there is less money to be won. There are a lot of clubs out there looking for members. If your current club is not a perfect fit, try another one, or buy yourself a boat so you can dictate what happens on the water.

Getting Out On The Water With A Sedan?
I was watching one of those shows where they buy and restore or flip antique cars. Someone was selling an Amphicar. The original owner has fabricated brackets mounted to the trunk to mount rod holders for trolling.
