  1. Wisconsin has gone one further with the Green Bay/Sturgeon Bay smallie fishery. Season opener is May4th like the rest of the state. It's C&R thru the middle of June, and the season on Washington Island doesn't open until July 1. If it wasn't for introducing off limits, size limits, and the goby invasion it wouldn't be the fishery it is today. My opinion on the OP is exactly in line with A Jay
  2. My .02 I went to Florida in February a few years back to fish Lake Toho. It was 70* the day I got there and 27* the next morning and the next 3 days as well. Winter weather is pretty unpredictable. Texas just got dumped on. When are you planning on going?
  3. VMC makes the hooks for the Rapala and it appears they are the same company or same ownership. The Sure Set hook
  4. I don't remember the science behind it. I've caught fish on the Clackin' Rap. Don't know if they were hooked better than a regular bait or not.

Did you expect any different. The man is from Illinois. Thievery is in our state Constitution
  6. Rapala puts them on the Clackin' Rap
  7. Call this guy http://www.hydro-graphicsolutions.com/ He does a lot of boat work
  8. What's wrong with it? Looks like it's designed as being the front hook on a crankbait and the large hook is supposed to point down when you rig it.
  9. As far as likes/dislikes, it's a the same as a Ford vs Chevy debate. I've only run 1 Lowrance unit and it was a basic black and white. It worked flawlessly for 10 years before I sold the boat. I ran 2 birds on that boat also without issue 1 being a SI unit and the other a Matrix unit. I've got Birds on my current boat. I chose them over the Lowrance primarily for ease of use. The customer service is good, and after the warranty expires, they continue to service the units for a fixed rate. Lowrance on the otherhand, if they deem an older unit has outdated technology, they do not repair them and only offer a credit towards buying a new graph. The warranty on the Birds is 1 year for the units up thru the 700 series and 2 years for the 800 series and up.
  10. Looks pretty good as it sits
  11. Humminbird has 4 new lines of fish finders coming out. the "6" series, the "9" series for lack of a better name, the ONIX series, and the ION series. There are closeout prices on the discontinued units. You can find some real good deals online.
  12. Million bucks up in smoke...
  13. Mark. Go to Binny's and get a preferred customer card and sign up for their mailing list. They send out a "Whiskey Hotline" email a few times a year. Everything you'd want to know about what's going on in the world of whiskey. PM me your email and I'll forward you the most recent one.
  14. I think we still have a couple years before Chicago goes the way of Detroit
  15. These guys are on the cellphone technology bandwagon. Thought this was really neat. http://vexilar.com/products/index.php?prodCat=marine&prodSubCat=fishphone
  16. I believe for a whiskey to be called a bourbon, it needs to be distilled in a certain county of KY. Anywhere else and it's just whiskey.
  17. A doctor was addressing a large audience in Oxford ... "The material we put into our stomachs should have killed most of us sitting here years ago. Red meat is full of steroids and dye. Soft drinks corrode your stomach lining. Chinese food is loaded with MSG. High trans-fat diets can be disastrous and none of us realizes the long-term harm caused by the germs in our drinking water. But, there is one thing that is the most dangerous of all and most of us have, or will eat it. Can anyone here tell me what food it is that causes the most grief and suffering for years after eating it ?" After several seconds of quiet, a 70-year-old man in the front row raised his hand, and softly said, "Wedding Cake."
