  1. I'm not but my son is. He eats, sleeps, and breathes Packers. He was 6 and already a big football fan. He was even playing football with the park district in 1996 when they won the Super Bowl. I thought things would change when Favre left. Nope. He has been a little upset since Rodgers is out. My brother has season tickets to the Bears and has taken my son to the Bears Packers game every year for the last 10 years. He proudly wears his Packers jersey while people throw crap at him. Me, I'll watch the Bears while wearing a Bears t-shirt, scream at the tv a little. That's about the extent of it.
  2. Does he have copies of the maintenance records?
  3. Where else can I learn about fishing and "Space Pee"
  4. Couple weeks ago had the same problem with some white bass I pulled out of 18fow. They were floating in the livewell. No problems with the walleye from the same spot. I wasn't releasing the fish, but I put the aerator and recircs on and they recovered in the livewell. Water temp was 40* I can't answer the fizzing question as I have never fizzed a fish.
  5. If the Skeeter is in better overall condition, why not? The Yammie 4 stroke is a very reliable motor. 115 on an 18' boat may be somewhat underpowered, but for a first boat, you'll want to have as little problems as you can. If the Nitro has been beat up pretty good you may want to pass. Either way, have a competent mechanic look at whichever boat you buy before you hand over the cash. If it cost you $100 to prevent a $10k mistake, it's well worth it.
  6. I didn't see the vote. I just hit delete
  7. I have a 2 stroke from the 60's that still runs. There are older ones as well. Maintained properly, generally 2 strokes are pretty bullet proof. FYI carbed Mercurys hate cold starts just like J Francho said. The newer 4 strokes get great reviews as well. Finding a mechanic who can work on a 4 stroke may or may not be difficult.
  8. Not sure if this is the correct place for this information http://www.nationalrivers.org/2013%2010%20NATIONAL%20handout%20on%208x11.pdf The administrator of a local fishing forum has used the help of this organization and the law to open up previously closed fishing areas. Just thought I'd throw it out there for you guys. I've had issues locally where people believe they own the water because they are property owners, and have marked channels on navigable rivers private or no fishing.
  9. One thing that wasn't mentioned. I'm not sure about the smaller hp motors, but when I was shopping, the 225 Verado was $2500 more than the 225 ProXS
  10. Told you it would be the best benefit package you've ever seen
  11. Based on my research when I bought my boat, the ProXS fuel consumption and top end was better than the Verado. That is what I based my statement on. Mercury's website has a ton of engine test data of different motors on different hulls.. The OP has 3 hulls listed The nitro will come with a Merc, the Skeeter with a Yammie, and I believe the Stratos will give him a choice of powertrains depending on the dealer. EDIT: Here's 2 links same HP similar hulls http://www.mercurymarine.com/engines/engine-tests/boat-house-bulletin/?ID=493& http://www.mercurymarine.com/engines/engine-tests/boat-house-bulletin/?ID=244&
  12. in addition to above, 2 strokes in many cases perform better, as well as have less fuel consumption. 4 strokes are quiet to operate and don't smell of exhaust fumes. My personal opinion, If you're not going to be trolling, I'd go with the 2 stroke
  13. Good post A-Jay. I know people who fail in all 13 categories and they are the most miserable people to be around.
  14. Halloween party many years ago. Played chicken with some guy with cigarettes. Put our forearms together and dropped a lit cigarette between them. Loser flinches first. I think it was a draw . I have a scar on my forearm the size of a silver dollar. I think we used a couple cigarettes and quit after we realized neither one would come out ahead.
  15. All this burger talk got me hungry. Just made some venison/beef burgers. 1lb ground venison, 1/2lb ground chuck, some worcestershire, chopped garlic, 1/2 and egg, salt and pepper, American cheese and all the fixin's. Fried them on the stove because the storms that came thru destroyed my grill and flipped my patio furniture. Mmm mmm good.

Judyth Baker, who was LHO's mistress and a government scientist has a new book out. I haven't read it but she's been doing the interview tour and I saw an interview. Last year she made claims that everyone who was vaccinated with the polio vaccine in the 60's and 70's was injected with cancer. Take it for what it is. She was running around spouting this last year with Jesse Ventura. The book sounds interesting though.
  18. Marine grade plywood ain't cheap. I think the plywood is a better option than anything solid because it will allow some flex. The solid oak he had cracked because there was no flex.
  19. IMO A shallow water anchor is invaluable for fishing shallow water docks and beds and for sitting shallow and casting deep. If what you do is mostly shallow water I would definitely do the Talon first. If it's deeper water, then do the electronics first. I use the Talon quite extensively thru the spring and summer on my home water. There are other places I fish where it never gets used.
  20. Taking it where? Fishing? To the beach?
  21. I don't see the beer holder
  22. I've got tourneys on the 27th and the 4th. I'm probably a no show.
