are you retired? do you fish ALL the time?
Retirement..... I've worked in the same field for 35 years. Tresa(wife) and me had it figured out that I would retire at 63. We would move to the swamps of Eastern North Carolina bringing along my mother in law. Best laid plans...lol I had a stroke in September of 2022. I have worked hard and hope to be walking unassisted soon. It has been a Crappy experience trying to get a little help while going through this. I finally had enough and decided to retire in May. We have Bern smart with money of I couldn't have considered this. A month ago my brother started feeling bad after being cancer free for 3 years. It metastasized to his spleen, lungs, and we found out the other day it is in his brain. So 6 months is optimistic. The above said, it solidified my plans to retire. Family will always come before all else. Eventually I will be back in the boat and fish when I want.... for now my mother in law and brother will live with us and Tresa and myself will cherish each moment.

So What is "Backwards" in Your Life These Days?
Well.... I had a stroke September 2022. I have Been quite fortunate it wasn't worse. I have rehabilitation four days a week and was hoping to be back on the boat soon. I will be officially retired in May and Tresa (wife) and myself were looking at moving downeast to live out our remaining years on the swamp. My brother has been cancer free for 3 years but found out 3 days ago it has come back. It's in his lungs and Spleen. So for now we will stay put, have hi move in here again, and do what we can for him. Life may be a little backwards right now but if I'm being honest we're right where we need and want to be.

What would you do?
Don't do the credit card deal. Here's a story that should give you some pause to think. I've worked for 35+ years and planned on retiring at 63. My wife an I were looking at new boats during the pandemic but the wait was ridiculous so we bout a used aluminum boat with a 50 horse. It has been great! Fast forward to September 2022 and I had a stroke. Retirement is going to be sooner than later. Had we not been smart financially this could have ruined us. The point being, if you don't have to add unreasonable debt , don't. Be smart now and enjoy life later.
