  1. Welcome from Morganton NC!
  2. Welcome!
  3. Great topic! I would like to give a little bit of a different answer though. I simply love to fish. It was taken from me Labor day weekend 2022.(health concerns) I fished 2 times since. 2024: I'm going to fish. I will sit in a seat. Safety first. I will fish one lake. I am blessed beyond measure that I will be able to do this. I'm going to fish exactly how I want, when I want,(retired) and treat each trip as a gift. Range: 30 minutes to chase Brown and Green fish. Strengths: many but.... not to be flippant, but I'm blessed to be able to go! Goal: to be able to go by myself. It may never happen. I simply love to fish.
  4. Plenty of interest..... fantastic. The thread that disappeared was called" The impotance in preserving some history. " Be on the look out for a new one. Thanks for the replies gentlemen!
  5. Some here know I had a stroke in September 2022. It was a long road back and while I have to use a cane I feel very fortunate it wasn't worse. I all but retired and when my baby brother fell ill with cancer for the second time(terminal) I was blessed to be able to care for him for the 6 months he stayed with me and Tresa. He was only 57. I was liking every day being Saturday. I bought a new tackle shed, kept myself busy, and decided 2024 I was simply going to fish, even it that meant sitting in a seat. I got a call from my old employer to come do some consulting work. They paid cash and I was fine helping out a company I had worked for since 1984. I went in and was told their problem spot and went out and observed. I knew a few of the folks and through conversations they were constantly having their machines adjusted by a new plant manager. Their cull rate on parts was 35%. I spent the next day in that area adjusting machinery, cook and dwell times, and made sure parts were waiting on them ready to load. We worked together for three days and things were going well. The plant manager came to me and blessed me out for reducing production numbers by 2 % . I asked him what they had thrown away? He didn't answer. I got paid that day and told them not to call me anymore. Numbers.... what good are they if they're bad? On the drive home I decided then and there I will not work for anyone else again. As of March I will officially be retired. See y'all on the lake!
  6. Welcome!
  7. Since that thread has disappeared for me is there any interest in starting a new thread?
  8. Old timers... I might wear that badge. When I feel like there's something worth saying; I do. A lot of times many more knowledgeable than I have it covered. I read more than I talk, it's a great way to learn. As others have said, sometimes life gets in the way. There are outstanding folks here. No drama. Great information. Did I mention great people? @Glenn if you ever need to charge for this content, I'll be the first to send a donation. Monthly too. @ol'crickety we're here ma'am. Sometimes vocal, sometimes silent.
  9. Another example why this place is tge best Bass website around! Thanks for this Tom! As for @A-Jay idea.... Yes sir!
  10. Back years ago I threw nothing but a rattling jig. I got to thinking one day about folks saying a plastic worm being one of the few baits a Bass couldn't become conditioned to.... it made sense to me that the same would apply to a jig. I'm sure some might argue my logic but it has worked for me. The only time I throw a rattling jig is at night and it's either cloudy or a new moon.

    Welcome!
  12. I'm durn near embarrassed to participate in this thread. I have been limited by my stroke for the last year but did get out a few times. I almost sunk my boat on this lake in 1985 and swore I would never go back. A couple of folks pushed and prodded and I started to fish there again in 2022. Anyway, this is my pb Smallmouth and hopefully by Spring my balance issues will be resolved and I can go more often and chase these Brown fish daily.
  13. I fished with a guy for several years. The first 5 were great. The next two were kind of weird in that he would get quiet when I caught fish and quit asking me to go. The last year we fished he was an out and out jerk. I told him to take a hike one night and never looked back. He has asked me repeatedly to fish tournaments and I have declined. That 6 + month span made me fish mostly by myself or with my wife. I have invited my son-in-law on several occasions but his wife, my step daughter, gets upset so I don't bother anymore. Cut that guy loose. It's not worth the stress nor the hassle.

  15. I've been around since 2009. I take a break every now and again but not for long. I have learned so much here it's ridiculous. I differ from most in that I feel like even though a topic has been discussed multiple times over multiple years, I don't mind a bit. Yes, you can usually find the answer through the search function. But this is a discussion board. Ask away! It would be awfully boring if no one asked. As for the mods. I had an issue once. Once In 14 years. That's pretty much all you need to know about how well run this site is. There's little to no drama, fairness is the rule, and the one issue I had was resolved if fair order. The number of folks that are willing to share is incredible. Honestly, what more can you ask for in a message board? One other thing. All this is Free! Thank you Glen!
  16. Congratulations!
