I live 45 minutes from Asheville. It's terrible. We got 14" of rain. No power, no water, relatively no internet, and a good chunk of Burke county is still under a flood warning. Several trees down on my property. There are many communities basically shut down. To the West of us it's worse. There's no telling when the power will be restored. The best estimate is a week. I will try to add some pictures.

I've been here 15+ years. Kent has always had a presence. As in life, people come and go but as each of the folks that taught you things (even when they did not know) either leaves or takes a step back, it saddens me. Kent, enjoy your retirement and take solace in the fact that you helped thousands of people through your time here! Thanks for all you have done and don't be a stranger!

The swamps of Eastern North Carolina. I grew up fishing, frog gigging, and exploring as far back as we could go. Before the stroke me and my brother still did. It's a lot of work but the Bass fishing is incredible. I only go twice a year now as my brother has to do the lions share of the work. The Bass fishing is still great(most days) and we never see another soul. I live 5 hours away and the lakes I fish now are anything but peaceful.( during the day) I go at night because there's relatively no boat traffic. I miss the swamp. The Black water.... The first picture is Lake James where I live now. The second is the clearing heading into the swamp.
