  1. some one please tell me what it means when a bass fisherman refers to a bass as a "kentucky". is it a different species? or just some nick name?
  2. thanks! what lake are you on?
  3. Dude, many of us, in northern states, have a bass season. It's a sad fact. I believe it's almost always in place to maintain the population by protecting spawning fish. The Bass opener in MN isn't until May 23. you think waiting for may 23 is bad, i wait until the last weekend of june, and the season ends in late november
  4. i've been trying to snorkel the lake that my cottage is on, but its just so d**n green and murky under the surface that i cant see anything. but the wierd thing is, when im out in my boat, i can see the bottom clearly at 10feet. any reason, will it clear up if i go out farther, because i get out 5 feet and just say whatever its to murky.
  5. gotta agree with most of you here, i feel its just takes away your concentration. good question.
  6. Any tips or tactics on the use of a spring bass trip. im hearing more and more about the effectiveness of these baits, just wondering where and when to use them.
  7. thats great, thanks a lot for that
  8. correct me if im wrong, but im 14, so i dont need a license- yet. is it not that you dont need a license to fish unless your 18+?
  9. this might sound like a stupid question, but bare with me please. i was wondering if i am able to bass fishing on my friends pond even though its before opening day on lakes, and not be doing anything illegal. like i said thats a stupid question and probably has an obvious answer, but i am unsure and just want to be sure. thanks 8-)
  10. hey there, im 14 and my dad said we are going to make plans to go smally fishing on the shores of georgian bay. he told me the last time he did this, he was trolling with a Original Rapala Floating, and caught smally after smally, all around 2.5. 4 pounds, but i was wondering if you could recommend any good trolling baits, and what size/colour any suggestion/opinion is GREAT!! ;D
  11. if your in around 3-5 feet of water, a Heddon Big-O is killer for both small mouth and large, i caught my biggest smallie on it ( 4.4pounds) also for deeper water a Rapala Rat'L'Trap seems to do the job. i experimented a lot with that bait, and i found that if the weather is cooler, such as a cold-front, then a reel'n'drop technique is very effective- just let it sink down to around the depth your looking for and jerk your rod up, let it sink, jerk your rod up, let it sink, jerk your rid up etc. a 6.5 foot spin-cast with 10 pound line does the job
  12. It is customary to cite your source when you quote somebody ;D now THERE is a profile picture! thats a hand thats been lippin' bass allll day long
  13. Thanks, and cool where abouts are you? what lake is your favourite, i personally really like Pigeon Lake.
  14. hey there, i was just curious as to what your opinion is on fishing the Original Rapala Floating twitch bait, where and when you would use it and size/colour(s) you like. any suggestions are accepted, i was just wondering because i read about using them in an FLW magazine, and realized i have one. but i was just l looking for some first hand opinions, thanks a lot!!
