  1. Here in So. Cali the lakes where I fish have limited access from shore, so on those lakes I have caught way more fish from a boat. On small lakes and ponds where the shore access isn't great, but much better, then fishing from the shore wins. Just depends on the body of water.
  2. Don't see why that reel wouldn't work for froggin. After all, you usually don't need to bomb the bait way out there. As for flippin & pitchin, unless your fishing Really Heavy cover, it will work for those also. In flippin, you don't cast anyway.
  3. From shore, which is what I do most of, I use a 7'1" ml spinning rig. No trees, or bush's to contend with. Line is either 8lb mono, or 8 lb fluro.
  4. Most trailers are such that your alter the length. Then it comes down to bulk, and action of the trailer.
  5. With the lefty, you won't have to switch hands any longer. ?
  6. ^^^ Great advice. Check the local Cl, ect for boats. Someone may have one that you could barter for, you never know until you check.
  7. Last year, when I got mine, the only discount you could get as a senior was to buy a Life Time license, I wasn't ready to shell out that kinda coin, and I'm still not ready to pay that much to get a discount. It's like what if I die in 2 years...???
  8. Yeah, the cost of our lic., is, lets just say Ridiculous. I can remember when the cost was $ 12.00, and wasn't all that long ago. Which reminds me, I need to renew mine..oh, and no discount for seniors either.
  9. The Irod Gneiss III series are really nice, and well under $200.00 The bad news, last time I checked TW, most all models were sold out, what's that tell ya..?
  10. Yeah, Jeeps especially. Seems like they forgot to Adjust the headlights at the factory. I see new cars drive by my house at night, and the beams are shining 10 to 12 feet in the air, cuz they are lighting up the 40' tree trunks..
  11. Merry Christmas to everyone. I'm going Golfing tomorrow.
  12. The only clear line I have is 1 rig set up with Fluro. Haven't noticed any difference using clear, green or camo.
  13. Hammer 4 replied to Catt's topic in Everything Else
Don't know if I could have dealt with all that as you have Catt. I tip my hat to ya. Hang in there, we are all here for ya Brother.. Happy Holidays, if that appropriate, to you and yours.
  14. Thanks, you nailed it. Looking at pic's online, then old paint was the shad color. Thanks again.
  15. So, I found this lure about 11 years ago, was slightly beat up as far as the finish goes, and I don't recall exactly the pattern, but I want to say a shad color. A friend painted it, as you see it now, kind of a translucent trout pattern. ? There are no markings on the lip, there are 2 beebees right behind it. I don't recall the fall rate on it. Anyway, if anyone has a clue on the make/model, I greatly appreciate your input.
  16. Use to eat at Quiznos at least once a week for a few years. We moved out of the area, where we are now, there are none, sadly.
  17. After 35 yrs+, the lakes, and city park ponds, ect where I fish, I know the waters pretty well. For me, it's not so much trying to improve, it's more like thinking outside the box. What I mean by that is, I try things/baits that no one I know of is throwing, sometimes it works, sometimes not so much, but I'm always learning from doing so. An example is we were fishing a highland impoundment, water was gin clear, outside air temp was 110+ degrees. Everyone that I saw and or talked to was BFS fishing, mostly dropshot, in deeper water. I decide to go shallow, and fish the riprap, tossing a 3oz jointed swimbait, after a few casts, I get bit by a nice healthy 6 1/2 lb bass. After the day was done, I talked to the folks that work there, and they said only a couple reports of "smaller" bass were caught, you guessed it, on a dropshot. So, don't be afraid to try something totally different.
  18. Don't have any Dobyns rods, but I do have 2 tatula 200 reels, and can say I'm really happy with them. Thrown baits from 1/2oz to 3 oz swimbaits, although the 3 oz baits work a wee bit better with a 300 size reel, which I also have in a tatula 300. Re: the T wing, if you tend to use a leader, some folks report that the knot does get hung in the T wing, so that's something to consider.
  19. Happy Holidays to all.
  20. Got an e-mail today re: the TW scam. So far my card hasn't been used for anything illegally.
  21. I used a Cardiff 300 for throwing baits up to 4 oz. I kept it for about 2 years. I'd say for the $$ it's a very good value, and a work horse at that. Just another option to explore.
  22. You guys might get a kick out of this. November 23rd. I ordered some magnesium gummies from GNC, which is about 17 miles from my home, the fedx hub is about 2 miles from gnc. I check the tracking, says it would be here on the 26th of Nov. The 26th comes, no package, I check the fedx tracking, now it says in transit. What? To make this short, they sent my package to the East Coast, first to CT. then to MA. 2 weeks later I finally get my Magnesium. Why they would send such a small package all the way across the US just baffles me, but leave up to fedx to do it.
  23. We pay more for things here than any other state. I could go on, but I won't.
  24. Our pup was rescued just in the nick of time. Next day we took her to the vet, our vet said she had a serious infection that would have caused her to die within a couple of days. That was about 3 years ago. She's a talker, barks when she wants folks to pet her...sheesh.. Another pic.
