the weave can come undone a bit. Had some hooks actually get stuck in the braid like it would a rope. Got the hook and didn't look to have damaged the braid. I have two and a half seasons with this it it is a fantastic all-around Braid. There have been no problems with windknots or tangles. Send me a message if you would like more feedback from me. I Bass fish 5 or 6 days a week. hookset on 3 I use the KVD Line and Lure Conditioner every time I head out to go fishing. It really seems to help keep the braid running smooth and the weave appears to stay together.

I was thinking along the same lines. My opinion on the two reels in question, is that Lew's uses higher quality components and has tighter tolerances. In addition, Lew's Quality Control is very stringent compared to Abu Garcia.s

For line on that set-up, I use Seaguar Smackdon 15lb with a Seaguar Tatsu 8lb Fluoro leader. I prefer a leader length that puts the knot just above the reel when I'm ready to make a cast. Are you shore bound, wading or in a boat/yak?

Spot on. Defier has exceeded my most optimistic expectations of what a premium Mono casts, fights and feels like! Honestly, I could never go back to standard mono like Stren, Sufix or Trilene. Defier is in another realm.
