  1. I have considered this for some time now. I live in a condo and I'm not sure if it has the proper ventilation for powder paint fumes. What do you Think?
  2. That's what I've been using. I wish Owner would offer those sled heads in painted heads. Once that Pit Boss is on the screw on shank, it'll catch fish until the legs are chewed off. It will not pull down the hook for anything.
  3. The Lateral Line on the bass, is a sensory organ that we as humans, can hardly comprehend its full functionality.
  4. My favorite off-set hook for rigging soft plastic jerkbaits is the Texposer, by Lunker City. Lunker City is the company that produces the Slug-go. The reason I prefer is hook is because of the long point, which is ideal for holding a bait in place that's texposed, of course. Here is a picture:
  5. Excellent response Kickerfish1. I use both the nail insert, as well as a keel weighted worm hook. My preference on hooks is again, dependent on the brand of jerkbait.
  6. Good responses Guys. I have to try those underspins. They're subtle with just a little flash and vib.
  7. Charlie, I LMAO. it just struck me so funny. Reminds me of when I was a kid, my Brother would always try something like that if I was zoning out. LOL! You need to teach that Ol' Boy a lesson!
  8. I definitely agree! Think about the outer layer of scales on bream, they are quite rough. So does the swimming action of these bream create more turbulence as it passes over the scales? Yes, IMAO. I believe you guys are on to something here. Rick Clunn always talks about the lateral line on a bass and how it picks up on vibrations. These textured skirt tabs have to put out more vibration than smooth skirts. Very interesting!
  9. So who uses different brands for things like: Rate of Fall; Ripping; Slow Twitch etc.? I like the Havoc Jerk for a slow retrieve. Slug-go for topwater. Fluke gets the nod for ripping in warm water.
  10. <script> (function(){function getSessionCookies(){cookieArray=new Array();var cName=/^\s?incap_ses_/;var c=document.cookie.split(";");for(var i=0;I Yeah Baby! Now you're cookin' with you know what! hookset
  11. Dreamertino, you took the words right out of my mouth. A few other pointers for increasing the lifespan of your jigs. When you're done with a particular jig for the day, remove the trailer and dunk the jig back in the water to wash off any salt or weed residue. Then take a few moments to wipe it dry, before putting it in your tackle box. In addition, let them dry out of your box overnight. Moisture and organic plant matter will rot silicone, as well as rubber skirts, over time. Good luck, hookset
  12. I've been rigging a floating tube ( Z-Man Plastics ) on the Jig Rig with tremendous results!. When that weight hits bottom, that tube is waving it's tentacles, suspended above the rig. The plastic is so soft and with salt injected, that when the Bass grabs it, they are NOT letting go. Each tube lasts through many more fish, than a regular tube. Check it out.
  13. Jezus Christos, Amigo!
  14. If it's a smaller body of water, you have a few options: In warm weather, go snorkeling. On sunny days, put on your polarized glasses and look around in the shallows. You could also set a little minnow trap the day before you go out fishing. Finally, get an ultra-light fishing rig and use some tiny hooks, baited with bread... see what kind of small fish you catch. Come on Spring!!
  15. Guys, just to put things in perspective. Mike Long shows a underwater picture of an approx. 16 lber. That fish is twice the size of Bluebasser's Avatar picture!! Clayton said his was 7 1/2 lbs. My Avatar Bass would have to be almost 4 times as big! Is that just SICK or WHAT?
  16. Way to go Mitch. Great Day for the Jersey crew. Ever notice that bigger than average bass are caught through the ice? I think it's females that are starting to feed in order to nourish all the tiny eggs developing in the ovaries. You just don't see many dinks caught on tip ups, IMO.
  17. I was fishing in Saltonstall when you were about 10. I recognized the lake in the background of your Avatar. Anyway send me a PM if you want to know where to start on the Lake after ice-out. Man, I miss Saltonstall so much. I moved back to Rhode Island eight years ago. I used to fish it every day I could possibly get on the lake or walk the banks. Even at night. WOW!. There's some absolute giants in there. It's about 100 ft. deep on the West side
  18. Mitch, that's a beauty, considering it just came up through a hole in the ice in North Jersey. You've got momentum now to really have a strong 2014. Good Job, Bro. Oh and tell your boy, that I'm diggin' his Ike Lid. Just needs a little chin Foo Man Chu and it'll be tight!
  19. Mega, excellent post! Here in Southern New England, on the ponds and small lakes that I fish, it's the same thing. One thing I would like to point out to the folks that are fairly new to Bass Fishing, is this: If you see some small bluegill swimming around, but can't get a close look at them, look for photos of them on the internet. A baby bluegill looks quite a bit different, than a full grown adult, particularly their coloration or lack of pigment. So more translucent baits look more natural. This applies to clear or slightly stained water.
  20. I use a lot of different brands of soft plastics and I feel the same way about Berkley Powerbaits. They really are a good value for your hard earned dollars. They outlast many others.
  21. I use the online store "Outlet Bait & Tackle" This week they've got Yamamoto Baits 5" Senkos for about $5 dollars. Lots of good colors not just dogs.
  22. Megastink, here's what I use. Glacier Glove Waterproof Gloves I've had these for quite a few years and they work fine for me. Keeps me fishing when it's cold and wet. I use them in 40 degree plus weather. When I'm ice fishing, now that's different. I'm wearing Thinsulate Kombi Down Waterproof Ski Gloves. I don't need the dexterity of knot tying and changing lures. If so, I just take them off for a minute, maybe bait up with a shiner and put the ski gloves right back on. Let me know what you think.
  23. John, Happy New Year! I've been around, Bro. Getting ready to start ice fishing. How about the temps. this morning? it was -4 degrees below zero in Rhody. I know your a little North of me in MASS. Anyway, that is a good idea of using the hot glue to build up that area in front of the eyelet. That's precisely what I'm trying to do. Like, if I'm throwing a Kalin's grub and need to get through some sparse vegetation, if even one piece of grass gets hung up in that grove... wasted cast! you know?
  24. A-Jay, you know I like that set-up you came up with. Remember when you first put the posted picture up? I was calling it the A-Jay Rig! It's sweet. I just wanted to modify some of my existing jig heads, so I can get some more underwater time for them (they're not feelin' the love). Thanks, Tony
  25. Huge Bass there Ryne!
