Fishing Small Ponds Without Structure
John's post should be framed and hung under the BR Banner on the home page. My 2 cents. FWIW.

Nice catches there. I'd say your buddy caught one of, if not THE, biggest bass in that body of water! Yeah, in New Hampshire that's a toad!

Swimbaits? Yes, Please.
Deep, you are a Beast with a swimbait!. I remember when you started to really go hardcore on the big baits. I commend you because it almost like Musky fishing, where a keeper is a fish of 1,000 casts, as they say.

New Pb And Overall Good Day

Huge Sale!
I picked up the long and short sleeve Bass pattern Fishouflage for fishing from shore or when I'm on a small pond in my one-man canoe. Big believer in camo ever since I was young fishing farm ponds or streams for smallmouth. I never wear bright gaudy clothes or hats. Bass see us just as well, if not better, than we see them. If you're standing on a sunny bank and pitching under the shade of a bush or tree, who do you think is eyeballing who?

Good Friends & Some Smallie Porn
Those are truly Gargantuan Smallmouth! They're so broad from the side that their heads look tiny. If I ever hooked one and it came up to the side of the boat....instant panic-attack! The Scrounga's are having an Epic 2013, wouldn't ya say.

Head Wouldn't Fit!
Big-O, I use the chair leg tip as well, but I use some round lead ingots from some old BPS Rod Balancers. I've got my rods balanced to the point where I can rest it one of my index fingers. Really cuts down on hand and arm fatigue. Oh and Rippin' Bass by the way!

Trouble With Large Soft Plastics Especially Horny Toads
I've been using this Owner Twist-Lock hook that is XXX strong with a Needle Point. This thing's a bad mama jamma! You won't be rolling over the hook point on this one. Once you hook 'em, they're coming in the boat.

Anyone Have A Good Rod Balancing System?
I use the same rubber chair tips, but use the lead weights from a couple of old BPS Rod Balancers that have come off of some off my older rods. I've got it to where I can balance my rod and reel set ups with one finger. It really does cut down on hand and wrist fatigue.

Colors Of Jigs And Lures
Tom's post was very thorough, as always, but the one thing I'd like to expound on, is that bass see much better under water than most people have been lead to believe. Their visual acuity and range is well beyond that of humans in most water clarities except mud, of course. They have extraordinary low light vision, more than most of their prey fish, so that is one of the big reasons that bass are so active at dawn, dusk and overcast days. It is because they have an advantage then and their instinct is to use any edge against baitfish that they can.

New Big O Jig Colors!!!
GMAN, the contrasting colors in the skirts are sweet. This season I'm experimenting with contrast, as I've read that is a strong attractor in lure coloring or shading. I will have to pick up a few. hookset on 3
