Great post. Any green weeds located in or near deep water in Winter, will have the entire food chain based their.The zoo plankton feed on the microscopic critters in the weeds. This in turn attracts small bait fish or small panfish that feed on the zoo plankton and tiny grass shrimp. We know what eats the small fish! You laugh about that Yum Dancing Eel, but I have one that catches bass like crazy. I bought a couple more and they never have produced like that first one. In another post, we talked about certain cranks are "special", well this is one of em. I can throw a few different cranks across a point or wherever and no bumps, put that special Dancing Eel on and catch 'em.

Is it just me or are hooks and other terminal tackle too flashy for clear water bass? I've taken to using different colored Sharpies to match the prevailing lure color, particularly suspending jerk baits. Helps the old confidence thing.

I have a multi-pack of Sharpie colors. I use them on everything from weights,spinnerbaits, crankbaits etc. You can get pretty creative with the color effect. It matters to me, so that's my little confidence thing.
