  1. More Pounce to the Ounce, as I like to say. hookset on 3
  2. RW, exceptional post, I agree 100%. These big and wise old giants have never seen anything resembling it! Like you said, they have no previous conditioning to this baitfish pod swimming by and just crash through it with their mouths agape.
  3. Has anyone used these new pegs to hold their soft plastics up on the eye of your hook?
  4. Ditto. Also, home lake has roughly 6ft of visability, so I'm trying for a smaller compact profile, while making long pitches or side-arm casts.
  5. Those SK Cyber Flexxx worms are so deadly because of the buoyancy and like WW2 says, they last through 10-15 bass. Check out all of this years new colors, esp. the tri-laminates. hookset on 3
  6. I can say that the fat worms have a thicker head which holds a twistlock Owner hook better. In addition, by the simple fact of the head being meatier, it won't tear up as easily after a couple of bass have gnawed on them. hookset on 3
  7. I think you're perfectly normal, getting out there in the fresh air. It was 46 degrees out today and I went fishin for a hour or so. didn't catch anything, but sure beats sitting in the office.
  8. In clear cold water you say? Try a Strike King 3x finesse worm in 4inch. they float and have a tendency to stand straight out on an Owner brand drop shot hook. Drag, not hop,it along the bottom slowly. Try watermelon black flake or even a light pumpkinseed color.
  9. GK, man that was inspiring!. I'm 52 years old and that's why I bass fish out of my little car-top canoe on private lakes and ponds all over Southern Rhode Island. Usually, it's me, a Great Blue Heron or King fisher, just takin' it all in. Thanks, hookset on 3
  10. Years from now, you will fondly recall the free time you had with your daughter and goin' fishing. Take it as a blessing, because you work wayyy more than go bass fishing. Nice peacock bass.
  11. stanlje2, welcome to the BR Forums first of all. Way to catch em in early Feb. in 54 degree water. Can you say- Global Climate Change!
  12. B, can I suggest a 10lb mushroom anchor for those windy days. I fish out of a canoe and use an 8lber with no probs. Those are nice size bass for Feb. in OPEN water. Crazy huh!
  13. Is it that little spot on the left side of her lip? I see it easily in both photos. Way to go Paul.
  14. See Shane J.s post. then scroll down to my reply. I'm hittin it HARD tomorrow (Saturday).
  15. X2. I'm hitting one of the golf course ponds in Southern Rhode Island. Drove by this afternoon in the 54 degree rain and a saw plenty of open water. i'm going to put a jig and pork right where the inlet pipe is pouring that relatively warm water into a 2 acre pond that had ice 2 days ago. I'll report back tomorrow night. I'm so pysched to have open water in what is traditionally the coldest few weeks of winter. It's payback from last year's artic tundra conditions. Oh, and I hope your a N.E. Patriots fan Shane J. We're in the Big Dance once again. Life is good!
  16. I agree With BlueBasser86. Sever the spine just like he described, by having the fishes back facing you on a board then stick the knife in and draw it down like a chop saw or paper cutter.
  17. I'm all for it! Here are a couple of soft plastic companies I give my business to, that are made in the Great U.S. of A. Lunker City Netbait Poor Boys Zoom
  18. Paul, I'm curious, what was the air and water temp? Also what color is the water in that lake, because I'm wondering when the Falcon Craw is at it's best? I tend to use browns and reds in tannic stained water and greens in lakes that have more clarity with lots of vegetation.
  19. I picked up the Xuron brand from a site that their website had a link to and have been using them for 4 months. I had the Texas Tackle ones but now they are put away in a drawer. The Xuron are so far superior to all the others because of ease of opening up even the smallest split rings and they are spring loaded, which of coarse means, if you relax your grip they open in your hand perfectly.
  20. Shallow, debris filled bottom lake you say ,in winter? A weightless soft plastic jerkbait is my go to. The bait falls in a horizontal position,so it has less of a tendency to nosedive into rock crevices. My fav. are Slug-Gos, because this generation of bass really has not grown up looking at them all day.
  21. ^^^^^ like most of the replies. They catch bass and have a profile just like most young panfish. Good Crankbait for the money, well built.
  22. Goose, give this online retailer a shot. I use them all the time and have been 100% satisfied. http://www.another site.com/StrikeKing/Strike-King-Red-Eye-Shad-Crankbaits.cfm Good Luck, hookset on 3
  23. Happy Birthday BDog. Yeah, you'll remember that present for a looong time. ain't it great, like Dwight said, it becomes a tradition. It's a total lock for me, because mine falls on April 8th hookset on 3.
  24. Wow! I would like to hear from some other BR members on their thoughts with the silent Red Eye. I have the same rationale as you Crank Crony.
  25. CSimon2, take a look at this article from the website called- Tackle Making.com. It explains the whole color theory and in particular how Contrasting Colors draw the most attention and therefore strikes from bass. Let me know your thoughts on it after. http://www.tacklemaking.com/default.php?pageID=12 hookset on 3
