  1. Look on Bassmaster.com, there is a piece by Bill Dance , where he talks about the effectiveness of a soft jerk in very cold water. Basically, you let it fall through the water colunm unweighted and then switch it back slowly.
  2. That's worth setting the early alarm for! What a Tank, man.
  3. A couple of weeks ago, when our water was in the mid-forties, I had a rattle trap bite going. It took 3 color pattern changes to finally get bit. First was table rock shad-nada, then rusty craw-nope, and finally gold black back -then whacked three bass in a half an hour.
  4. Goose, how ya liking that craw pattern NOW? Happy New Year. p.s. I've got an order in for a few of those Red Eye Shads in Crawfish- Silent and Rattling.
  5. Superlube grease and oil with PTFE (read Teflon) is all I've been using for 4 or 5 years. So, I'm curious as to their viability, as well. Thanks, hookset on 3
  6. I'm another big fan of the Falcon Lowrider crankbait rods. I've had the 6'8 M Fast for two years and it is spectacular.
  7. Bassman, the coloring and patterns of the fish are beautiful. I like when they have those lines on the sides of their face, like indian war paint.
  8. Goose, they say you can tell if your on the right color lure by the way the bass is hooked... That Hawg absolutely choked that craw pattern!
  9. That Story got me pumped. We still have liquid on our ponds (Christmas Eve ). I'm goinin' Tomorrow after Christmas with the family. That is A big league fish you got there. I had the total obsession at your age too, 51 now. It stays with you for life. Good Job! Merry Christmas G.
  10. Blue, that big' un just choked that BBZ. I'm so envious. Those are all stud bass. You are blessed to have a power plant lake.
  11. The Bass Resource Community: Have a Merry Christmas and dreams of lunkers dancing in your head. Happy New Year and wishes for a great 2012 on the water.
  12. Good thinkin' there, baluga I may take a shot at this one. Not a lot of collateral damage, which is nice, in case it doesn't work out. hookset on 3
  13. Sent Pm to Mike at Delaware Valley Tackle.
  14. Id like to know more about that. The rod I picked up is a Powell Endurance 673 and the balance point is north of the reel seat. The butt end of this rod is actually smaller and like Packard said in his reply, very tapered, which then turns into the rod blank.
  15. Has anyone figured out how to use this on a split grip handle? I've got them on all my straight handled rods and it makes a huge difference in feel and less forearm fatigue at the end of the day.
  16. X2. When you snap you rod tip down, make sure you've got enough slack in the line, because the bait will sometimes do a 180 and come up facing backward. This can be a strike trigger sometimes.
  17. Try a Yamamoto Fat Ika. Road Warrior Recommended this for presurred bodies of water. Do a search here, in the tackle forum and you will see the favored rigging options, like backwards for one.
  18. Try the Kicker fish- Kickin Kraw. It floats up perfect, waving those pincers.
  19. Goose, that is a beauty! I'm still fishin too, get 9 on a gold super spot on a local pond from shore like you. Can you say- global warming.
  20. I really enjoy fishing these squarebills in wood or rock cover. The problem is of course, the thin coat of paint used to make the baits look sort of translucent, just does not hold up. Has anyone ever put a clear coat on these KVD cranks, to prolong the lifespan of the paint job? I'm wondering if applying a coating would effect the action or true running efficiency of these productive lures.
  21. A Jay, looks like that fat one has had a few rainbow snacks. What a lunker for up north!!
  22. Alright Ken ! Birthday Big Bass Bonanza. Those are tanks.
  23. I think you would have better success if you went in he afternoon when things are stirring. In addition if there is some light wind to break up the flat surface then that is even better.
  24. Red, it's safe to say you've got one of those "special" crankbaits, that all the pros talk about going through a whole batch of them to find. That'll be the one eyed Bandit, so you won't even have to mark it with a sharpie.
  25. That's a good'un. Those XXX Owner hooks on the Big O jig will slice into anything, plus with that braid your using....lethal.
